I just couldn't believe this. I mean this guy has issues. I still can't believe this police department was so lenient. They should have been sued!!!!!! I mean what If her father died?

Wow, this really pissed me off. What a bitter, awful person. I'm surprised he wasn't sued.

Are you fucking kidding? Why isn't this making national headlines? OMFG!!!! I hope she gets that guy kicked off the damn force. WTF. I'm in total shock.

Unreal.
Only a 2 week suspension? Really? This ass clown shoulda been fired. You don't put peoples' lives at risk because you wanna play some "discipline the foul-mouthed teenager" game while you're running 911 dispatch. Un-fucking-believable.

In our EMS system 911 is so abused that it can be difficult to determine whether a call is a prank or not.
A smaller area may only have 2 ALS (paramedic trucks) and 2 BLS (EMT trucks). EMTs can't do everything paramedics can (serious situations. life or death ones) so the dispatcher probably honestly mistook her for a prank caller or person high on drugs. She was hostile as soon as he asked her to stop swearing. She could have responded better and said "please send me an ambulance" or "send an ambulance". She didn't have to continue swearing. 911 dispatchers are abused verbally and receive a lot or false/non emergency calls a day. That ties up emergency personnel and can lead to someone else dying because that are busy.
Also, paramedics and EMTs do NOT legally have to enter an emergency scene if dispatch advises them that the situation is hostile/dangerous/etc. Also, if the EMTs/paramedics see/hear something concerning to our safety we do NOT have to enter the scene. (downed power lines, person with a weapon, hear shouting, etc). We are NOT legally required to enter a scene if it is unsafe.
The first two steps for EMS personnel on emergency calls are (in this order):
BSI/PPE (body substance isolation procedures/personal protective equipment) which means gloves, mask, etc
and Scene size up/scene safety (do NOT enter scene unless it is safe to do so)
We are trained to wait nearby for law enforcement to arrive. It doesn't matter if someone is dying, bleeding to death, having a heart attack, not breathing. If we do not feel safe we do not enter.
This is because EMS is unarmed and there is little ways we have to protect ourselves. If we are injured then we cannot help others.
So I guarantee you that dispatch would have told EMS to wait nearby for LE to arrive first, so the girl delayed her father's care by swearing and acting hostile as it is. People think that EMS has to respond to any call immediately but that is not true if it unsafe. "Duty to act" only applies when it is safe to do so, and because of her behavior I would have waited for the police to arrive.
All I'm saying is that the dispatcher wasn't 100% right but the girl wasn't 100% right either, she could have handled the situation more respectfully to the dispatcher. The dispatcher's job is to relay information to EMS, fire, and police and protect us/prepare us for what we are walking into.
If you are willing to do for one year what other's won't, you can spend a lifetime doing what other's cant.

That is just wrong. I understand they get cussed and yelled at but in the first call he should of asked what was wrong and if the cussing doesn't go to the problem then hang up..
I been hung up by them more than once and I was polite... The only time I wasn't "polite" was when I cussed when the guy finally broke down my door. I stopped calling at a young age.. I tried last year to call for help and they hung up on me cause I wasn't in the right area.. I will call help for others, but for me I believe I'm on my own.
How he reacted was completely in the wrong. 911 dispatch isn't my job so I'm not 100% sure, but I am about 99% sure that they tell you to be controlled, calm and clear (something that this man was NOT!) on the other end of the line when they deal with panicked people all day. Common sense that a negative reaction stirs up more negativity.
After she swore he should have said something like, "Ma'am, please calm down. What is your emergency?" Thus allowing the girl to tell him about her father. If he had continually been cussed out then it obviously would be something he could hang up on.
But by shutting HER down, not asking what her emergency is, and trying to correct her mouth he left her no window for explanation and his reaction only heated things.
It is common sense to know that when people are in high stress situations, they normally swear! lol. It doesn't take having to be a dispatch officer to figure that one out.
This man was a fucking tool. This was his job and he failed to handle it maturely, responsibly and professionally.
This is way old, I saw this video years ago.
Old or not my opinion of police is 20 years is to long to be on the force. Police are people & after a while it has to get to you no matter how your temperment. It was clear he was pulling some power trip & wanted her to act a certain way before he was going to listen to her. He needs to move on to another job or retire.
The thing that gets me about this is that she wasn't hostile to him until he decided to "correct her mouth." He got all pissy because before he spoke, she said "what the fuck" - clearly to herself, not HIM, because he hadn't said anything to indicate that he was on the other end of the line yet. As soon as he actually said "911" she spoke respectfully to him until he decided it was a good time to lecture her. If he hadn't said anything yet, he had to know she wasn't swearing at him, because how would she know he was on the line yet? To go and tell her not to swear, when any idiot would've realized she was swearing to herself, not him, is power-tripping. Saying "alright, stay calm and tell me what's wrong," is one thing, - lecturing her on her wayward cursing and telling her to "calm down" when she was calm when asking for the ambulance once she started talking to him, was just unnecessary. There was absolutely no reason for him to back the conversation up and go the lecture route when she was calm when telling him she needed an ambulance. And then when she calls back, he starts purposely swearing at her and calling her a "stupid ass"... I don't blame someone who's panicking for getting shitty when the 911 dispatcher starts calling them a stupid ass. I don't feel like that's something he was doing to get proper information on the situation.
Now, the part where she calls back just to ask his name and tell him he's getting sued, made me want to slap her and be like "Now that's a fantastic use of your time while your dad is unconscious on the floor." But other than that, I think the guy was completely in the wrong.

He needs to be fired. He is a poor cop and needs to be in prison for this. What a piece of scum. Probably hates women too.
^ This I understand by the problem is that as most people didn't know , the recording started before he even picked up the phone. So she cursed and said "fuck" while the phone was still ringing. He's been doing this for how long and didn't know that? I don't and I'm pretty sure most people don't either but that's beside the point. After he picks up she asks without using foul language for an ambulance. He then decides that he's going to make her jump through hoops before he helps her wtf is that? His wasted time of talking shit is when the girl said " can you send me a fucking ambulance", after she asked nicely the first time. He should know that most people don't know how that system works and then uses it against her because he didn't get his coffee? I see this as abuse of power. Even at some part in the 3rd or 4th call he decided to REFUSE TO GIVE HER AN AMBULANCE? REALLY? Her father could have died with this bullshit. He was 100% in the wrong. Even on the 2nd call " are you going to send me an ambulance.... not until you...? what? That's not his job! Then he lies to dispatch a few times saying she was "hostile"? Then she gets arrested on a trumped up charge that he came out and did himself? Really so he unplugs from 911 dispatch to get this girl and lock her up? And makes up a law that doesn't even exist? All at the hospital? After she had to find her brother to get her father there? Umm n guy should be under a jail. He put a life in danger and he could have had a number of fellow police officers laid off due to a mega lawsuit. He never even publicly apologized. That man can have additional brain injury just because of all that bullshitting he was doing.

I actually went through the same thing with a local courthouse where the woman kept telling me to take her off speakerphone and I kept telling her she wasn't on speakerphone, and she kept hanging up on me even though she could understand what I was saying because she was replying to my questions. I hate hate HATE dealing with people in power positions because they use it to their advantage and often have superiority complexes.
@ Laurisa and others who said the girl was in the wrong too....really???? the first two times she called 911 NO ONE ANSWERED and she freaked out and said "Fuck"...i think if YOUR dad or loved one was unconscious on the floor and no one is answering THE EMERGENCY LINE- i think a few words would come out your mouth too. i cant even wrap my brain around around anyone saying "well she wasnt right either..." really??? i cannot believe you guys would say that, she was in an emergency situation and didnt get help right away- her dad could of died! the cop even called her stupid bitch and bafoon WHILE HER DAD WAS ON THE FLOOR. how would YOU like to me called names while your loved one is possibly dying??? she was in a very stressful situation. just wow.

edit..

This is unbelievable. I called emergncy services today because i saw three children under 5 playing in the road unsupervised. I had a police officer in my home within ten minutes. She had already been to the home in question, came to take my details, then went back to the home to ask more questions of the parents. Then she rang me to tell me what i had said was being investigated, less than an hour later i had a message in my inbox from the same PC saying she was putting in a child protection order, telling me i had done the right thing to call and thank you, the father had lied and said the children hadnt been outside at all, but that they were wearing exactly what i had described and that she had looked into it and found i had called both social services and the police on other occasions to report the same incident.
Its people like the officer in the story who make me lose faith, the girl was clearly panicked and swearing to herself when she couldnt get an answer, the officer felt the need to be demonstrative and completely escalated an already hazardous situation.
''I love fake boobs''
''They're not fake! I grew them myself!''
I'm going to say exactly what I said on another forum talking about the same thing:
Wow, just wow.
She was terrified about the health of her father.
You know, even the FCC had the sense to not do anything when someone was caught in a news clip yelling "Oh, sh!it!" as the Twin Towers fell.
I don't know what I would do if I were in that poor girl's situation. At some point, though, I would imagine I'd be yelling something like, "What is WRONG with you!?! My father needs help!"
Yes, this is old, but my opinion then is my opinion now: fuck that guy. 911 is an emergency number and emergencies are usually high-stress situations. The last thing on my mind when trying to summon help for a person in distress would be to mind my tongue.![]()

If something were happening to my daughter, and I couldnt get ahold of anyone at 911, I would be freaking the fuck out, oh yeah I would... and by the third time I call, yeah I would be in full freak out panic mode. Shes small enough that I would be desperate enough to just put her in the car and drive to emergency (helps that the hospital is right across the street from me, but anyway...) this girl didnt have that option... I dont see how anyone in the world can blame her for being scared, freaked out, and letting out a curse word before the guy came on the line.
Anyway, its good that her dad recovered, and I do hope that more than a slap on the wrist suspension happend to that cop. If the dad would have died, I wonder if he would have been charged with manslaughter..I know if I were on that jury, I would say he was beyond guilty...
Don't blink. Don't even blink. Blink and you're dead. Don't turn your back. Don't look away. And don't blink!

I used to live in that state, near there, and their unprofessionalism does NOT surprise me!
You can call the cops there and it may be over an hour before they even show. If you live on that side of the state you are pretty much fucked in some areas if you need emergency assistance fast.
I read they recently cut the police force there in half too, due to lack of funding (place is fucking broke - about the worst economy in the country) but still to me there is no excuse for a dispatcher behaving that way.
