    Default Natural, Aluminum-Free, Paraben-Free Deodorant?

So I just found out that Origins discontinued this amazing stick deodorant and now only have this spray. So I need a new natural deodorant. Or at least as natural as possible without aluminum or parabens. And good smelling. I'd prefer a stick, but I'm open-minded. Online or in person, and price doesn't matter too much.

I've tried Burts Bees (didn't like the scent) and Toms (peels too much) which work, but they aren't ideal. And I've tried the homemade coconut one, but I don't like it because I already use coconut oil all over my body. And the ones that make you never sweat scare me lol.

    Suggestions?

I don't know. I've been meaning to try the coconut oil one. I only pat on baking soda and I'm good. I only wear regular deoderant maybe 2-3 times a month, mostly less, and that's just if I'm in a run to go work and didn't get to the baking soda.

    here's lush's:

did you just not like the coconut one? Did you add essential oils at all to help smell pretty?

I like to slather on the deodorant so it lasts all day, and the coconut oil one takes forever to absorb so its pretty pointless for me.

I pat on the baking soda and go. Might have to check it later to make sure that I don't have any white powder left over.

You can get some ideas here:
    http://www.earthclinic.com/CURES/body_odor4.html#FS

I'm curious about the hydrogen peroxide and rose water mix as well as the decolorized iodine, but it sucks because some people don't shave their underarms so what might work for them could irritate the shit out of my underarms.

edit: what about substituting aloe for the coconut oil? I wonder if it would be sticky. Maybe aloe vera juice just as a binder for the powder and oils?

I think I'm going to do two things. Try LaVanila's line, and also try making my own again only this time adding seaweed powder.

I have LaVanilas deodorant and I love love love it! It's all natural and it smells wonderful. It also keeps you dry unlike other deodorants bc cornstarch is one of the listed ingredients.

^ Ingredients of LaVanilla for those, like me, who want to try their hand at another make-at-home deoderant concoction:

Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice (Aloe Juice, Water), Propanediol (Corn Derived), Zea Mays (Corn) Starch, Sodium Stearate (Coconut Derived), Silica, Carrageenan (Seaweed Derived), Stearyl Behenate (Coconut Derived), Citrus Medica Limonum (Lemon Peel Oil), Inulin (Artichoke Derived), Saccharomyces Ferment, Alpha-Glucan Oligosaccharide (Sugar Derived), Yeast Beta Glucan, Lonicera Caprifolium (Honeysuckle) Flower Extract, Usnea Barbata (Lichen) Extract, Valeriana Officinalis Root Extract (Valerian), Hydrastis Canadensis (Goldenseal) Extract, Melaleuca Alternifolia (Tea Tree) Flower/Leaf/Stem Extract, Lycium Barbarum Fruit Extract (Goji Berry), Botanical Fragrance Blend.
    http://www.sephora.com/browse/produc...b2dsZS5jb20%3d

Interesting that it has Valerian since the powder stinks to high heaven of musty old-man feet. I wonder if it's a distilled essence, and how that negates the bad smell.

Still, for $10, I might pick some up for myself.

soooo...i really want to look into a natural deodorant as well...first off... the off the shelf kind is bad for your kidneys and as a diabetic i don't need anything extra lol. but my other issue is i need an antiperspirent and deodorant combo for i sweat big time, and have amounts of testosterone in me like that of a 14 yr old boy due to my P.O.S. grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr so i've been using that clinical deodorant that is pretty scary in keeping you from sweating...period....yet...i still stink if i don't suffocate my underarm w/ it. i'm afraid natural stuff just won't have the ummpphh to keep me from being stinky ((((

^ if you start adding some zinc to your diet (be careful and add slowly because it does have some side effects if you take a 25-50mg pill off the bat but I don't remember what the side effect is) it helps with BO. Some people use zinc baby but lotion for underarms but that didn't work for me. Have you tried vinegar or colloidal silver?

no fiendish i haven't! thx! i'll run it by my dr. since my levels are off anyway, see what i can get away with. it's so embarrassing!!! i shower twice a day, scrub like crazy and nothing helps since it's hormonal. also, i have an issue with absorption, not lack of anything, just absorption. so that blows as well.

Sweating is a good, natural thing. Releases toxins. But corn starch will do the trick.

    Check this out:
    http://www.earthclinic.com/CURES/body_odor6.html#ZINC

Bottom of page for zinc. You can use the boudreaux's butt paste without worrying about any side effects more serious than perhaps some skin irritation if you're sensitive. It'sbeen awhile since I tried it. I recall a few tiny superficial zits.

As far as the pills, ask your doctor and start out with 10-25 mg a day which is a pain since most zinc pills are 50mg.

Maybe look for cold zinc lozenges? Not sure themg dose in those. 50mg though...can't remember if it causes stomacheache or unpleasant wired feeling or what. Been there done that bit it's been two or three years. Just don't take a 50mg pill right off the bat with no food

Have you been tested for candida/thrush?

i have problems with yeast because of my diabetes...but not the normal vaginal yeast infections. my issues are internal, i've had thrush before i was very young, like 10 or so. all down my throat, cuz of diabetes as well. it appears elsewhere, never vaginal.
thx so much for the options!!!

    I glanced over this:
    http://www.earthclinic.com/CURES/sweat.html

Seems a few people wrote in for what did and didn't work for their sweating (and some mentioned specifically having hyperhydrosis.

"05/25/2011: Dancejunkie35 from Enid, Ok : "I never leave feedback on these sites but after two days of trying organic apple cider vinegar & raw organic honey I swear my excessive facial & head sweating is WAY better! I am a dance instructor & getting ready for our big show & tonight for the first time in rehearsal I wasn't soaking wet and spraying everyone with my wet head! I have been drinking the Apple Cider Vinegar & water and it's also helped my dancers feet! I have tried prescription steroid creams & every other over the counter ointment to relieve the athletes foot/eczema I get from sweating & dancing! I haven't put this on my feet I drank it & noticed 6 days later my feet r smooth & pretty again! It's a flat out miracle! It may b all in my head but I swear it works! I drink 2 teaspoons of Apple Cider Vinegar & 2 teaspoons of raw organic honey the thick kind in 8oz of room temp bottled water about 2-3 times a day! I have been drinking 2 tsp of Apple Cider Vinegar & 1/4th tsp of bs 2-3 times a day & I swear it has helped me a TON!""

"08/09/2010: Rachel from Charleston, Sc: "I started using iodine/iodide and my hyperhydrosis disappeared. I no longer suffer from excessive sweating on my hands and feet and I no longer have cold extremities.""

There's also some mention of using magnesium which might be useful. Just be careful about sage if you try that as someone mentioned an issue with that causing unusual vaginal bleeding.

Yeah I put that I already tried theirs. It makes me peel for some reason. LaVanila is okay so I'm going to stick with it.

*BUMP* I'm pretty happy with LaVanila's Vanilla Coconut scent, but if you have any others you really like, please post! I have to apply that one like 2x a day because it doesn't last that long, but I really do like it.

I just started using "Crystal Essence", bought it from CVS(or was it Walgreen's?) I really like it!!! It works great. I do have to keep it in my makeup bag to reapply if needed, but really the only days I *need* to reapply are heavy workout or yoga days.

Nivea or Weleda make good ones. IDK if they are paraben free though, but they work well.
