I am always freshly showered, exfoliated and shaved before I get sprayed. I do this right before I leave to get sprayed. I get sprayed once a week. I do not moisturize before my spray as this may act as a barrier for the tan. I wear very loose clothing to the spa, no bra. I do not shower until the next day. After my spray I do not use a loofah or wash cloth, I only use moisturizing bar soap until I am ready for another spray. I use lotion on my body at least twice a day to keep a better color. I pay $30 a spray, which is a deal since I buy 5 at a time ($150). I believe the sprays are $40-50 a piece if purchased individually. I personally would not dance without one, I consider it part of my "work uniform". My spray tan does not look the best in natural sunlight, but it looks AMAZING on stage. I have not had body contouring. The color I get from the spray contours me as is.

thank you sooo much for sharing your routine!! part of my concern is with my extra extra dry skin, and if i dont moisturize right before it'll be patchy. but, alas as you stated this will create a problem with the color attaching.

i believe the cost is 25 a session at the place i checked. i worry about natural light as well..i hope it isn't to the point of looking foolish! what effects do sweat have on the color? can i kill it on the treadmill and not wash my color off?

Sweat will take the tan off but if she uses a good product that won't happen till about day 4. I spray tan every week and go to the gym with no problems. The tan will dry ur skin a little too so moisturize every day except the day you get your tan.

Since I get sprayed so often, my color doesn't really have a chance to wear off. I do not work out the day I get sprayed. But after that first day, I am fine with breaking a good sweat. I don't notice it on my clothing. I wear really loose clothing, like an old maxi-dress or sweats and a baggy tee. I pay special attention to what I am wearing about 6 hours or so after I get sprayed. If you wear tight clothing the day of you spray, you may notice color on your clothes. It seems that it washes out fine though.

I don't think my color looks foolish in natural light, just a tad unnartural (since it's not). I live in SoCal, so spray tan is the norm. I have lived in the NW where a spray tan might stand out a little too much. My BF likes it. And it makes me feel sexier. It is healthier than tanning beds. And it makes me more $$ (fact). Enjoy it! And if you don't like it, wait a few days and it'll wash off

Nicc you don't take ur tan off before reapplying? Doesn't that make it uneven in spots? I always scrub 2-3 days before reapplying to start with fresh skin. Spots where old tan residue are left show up darker so I try to get it all off. Every 3 weeks I'll have a week off to get every last bit off and start 100% fresh again. Looks flawless. Obscurity keep in mind the person doing it and the product will have everything to do with
the outcome. Try and get someone off a recommendation. I've gone to some really shitty tanners.

My place puts lotion on palms of your hands, elbows and ankles so you don't get build up of gross tan. Sprays everywhere, then baby wipes your palms, nails, toe nails, elbows. They then blend tan at wrists with a brush do it looks natural as possible. They have over 50 shades of tan and can mix colors to get the shade you want.

You want somewhere with that level of care in their service.

What lotion do you girls use to avoid the tan sweating off when working out? I work out everyday and find the tan sweats off a bit, especially around my sports bra and sometimes it leaves a mark (around the straps or under my breasts)..
Some mistakes are too much fun to only make once.

My tan comes off evenly. I rarely get uneven spots. If I do get uneven spots, they are the usual wrists/ankles. The day I get sprayed I have a long shower routine. I use loofah, wash cloth, body scrub, and a body brush. All very gently of course. I'll spend about an hour in the shower just prepping for the spray. I don't spray weekly during the summer. My color looks even and good. Through trial and error on my part, I believe for me its all about keeping your skin moisturized. Not only but using lotion but drinking tons of H2O as well.

The shade you choose is also important. I usually go for a lighter color and it builds so I don't end up orange.

I've never had my wrists brushed, that is a brilliant idea!!

^ How do you guys do it so often? It takes me 3 good scrubs and soaking in my garden tub to get the blotchy areas off. I always spray before a trip(since I travel to dance and usua ally take 3 weeks of in between trips) but I'm blotchy in the chest around day 6 and day 4 my hands look horendous. She doesn't like to do hands but I like them done. I think because there's so much alcohol and because my skins so dry I just cant get the blotching off for a while. It takes me scrubbing my hands and chest a few days. If I'm gone for a few weeks I need to tan in beds and use bronzer to make it look normal. Though I like to be black and she uses a high pressure sprayer so there's lots of over spray and spray on me I take a good half hour to dry.

^sounds like she uses a shit product. My tan always looks flawless. Most people think its real. First week of uni everyone was asking where I went. Lol. I choose naked tan in choc fudge - its an australian brand, st. Tropez is a good brand though that's American that usually gives a safe, decent colour. It's not as good but if naked tan was not available I'd try that. Also sounds like you girl might be spraying to thick? Mine use high pressure air brush machines but spray from far away lightly and takes 2 mins to dry with a hair dryer. Also I find a bristled scrub brush works best to get the tan off. But I do take at least 2 days carefully scrubbing it all off before re-spray.

ask her to spray inbetween your ass cheeks or if you are too embarrassed, ask her to spray your hand and then wipe some in your buttcrack. My friend didn't do that once and her asscrack was WHITE WHITE WHITE. It glowed in the blacklight.

^ Jessie, no I've tried different people and product and the same thing happens about day 4-5. I do think because I like to be black she uses tons of product on me because she just did my sister and she was lighter and looked different. Mine looks flawless too until day 4-5 on my hands. I just traveled and worked at a high end club with a girl from here and she can vouch mine looks good. The boucers at the club were commenting how dark I was, they were like you must spend a shit ton of time at the beach and I'm like no it's spray and the bouncer was like damn I'm getting it done I didn't know it looked that good. Lol.

I guess it's just cause you do it do thick and prob a big contrast of the dark tan and your light skin. Mine doesn't go blotchy except in areas I've sweat and something has been rubbing ie. feet get strap marks from stripper shoes. Do you use a lotion to extend the tan? I used to when I tanned once every 2 weeks but now I don't because I want the tan to start coming off day 5 so I'm ready to spray again on day 7.

As well as a dancer, I am a licensed esthetician in Texas, so trust what I have to say! The spray tans I used at a spa I used to work at were about $30. Before you go, exfoliate and shave in the shower. Wear a bra and underwear you don't really care if it gets dirty, *however* the formula should not stain your clothes, it will wash right out. Wear a loose fitting dress that's easy to take off. You can either get completely naked or if you're shy just wear your bra and undies. The esthetician will tell you to put your body in different positions, and will blot the color if it gets runny. *Important*: Your color will look darker when you leave the spa than it will after your first shower, so don't panic! Let it rest for 24 hours then take a shower. If she missed any spots you can go back and they should touch you up for free. Ask them what formula they use; Fake Bake is an excellent line, they also sell some of their take home products at Sephora and Ulta. Hope that helps!

If you live in a state that has a Facelogic Spa, try going there, each location offers slightly different prices and services, but that is the spa I used to work at; they used St. Tropez formula and had reasonable prices, they also offered the tans in a package deal.

Also if the place has quick-dry brands use one of them. Mine only takes 2 hours to develop and I can wash it off so don't have to hide in the house all day or worry about sleeping with it on or sweating and wrecking the development. I find these ones actually continue to develop several hours after washing them too so if u do get a quick developing one don't freak if at first when u shower it looks to light... It may get darker still.
