Default Switching internet providers... question on modems...

I have been having issues with my internet this past week. Pretty much have had no internet the majority of the time, so I've been working over one of my fellow cam girl's places. A tech came out yesterday and said there were 4 other calls from my street alone so they were going to do some work on the lines. They informed us it will be another 3 days or so before it's fixed. A week without internet!? Not cool with me. I set up an appointment to get a new ISP for friday, but I have to get a new modem to do so. I was thinking about getting the Motorola-SURFboard DOCSIS 3.0 High-Speed Cable Modem. I already have a great netgear router so I'm good on that. I just want to have the best equipment I can.. This motorola seems to have good ratings. Any ladies know if this modem is worth it or suggestions on another one? I'll probably be going to buy it tomorrow or so. Thank you sooo much

Oh my God, do you live in Arizona? Because this EXACT same thing happened to me this past week! Wow, that's weird. My ISP (Cox) just sent out a crew yesterday to fix the lines and now my internet's perfect again. I had to bug them to move me up in the queue by explaining that I work online from home so I NEED my internet or else I can't make money, and I think they'd like me to be abe to continue paying them on time every month! If you're having to wait more than a day I'd ask to speak to a supervisor and explain the situation to see if they can speed things up for you.

I have a Motorola SURFboard, I've had it for about a year and a half and I never had any problems with my connection up until last week, but that was due to the wires outside of my apartment, not the modem. I don't really know a lot about technology so I don't know if it's the best modem out there but I have absolutely no complains with it.

I actually live in Alabama. We called last week sometime and kept calling trying to get a sooner appointment than yesterday. NO DICE. They came out and with all the complaints on my street they brought people to work on the lines outside. It is 100% on their end. They admitted it. I just hate having to travel to work when I could be at home working, but I can't because my internet is being sketchy.

More info :I've had problems with them on and off since we got them about a year ago. When the internet has a crappy connection I don't even bother to get online, but when it's good it's GREAT. We have had a lot of storms/tornadoes since last April(we were hit with the April 27 tornadoes and then again this past month) but they claimed to have fixed it. We have been calling them every single day SEVERAL times a day. We have our internet/phone/cable bundled. The phone does the same thing when the internet is bad. Everything coming in is just fine it's just the outward signal is bad. It's been happening a couple times a week and it's obvious when the internet is having issues. We pay 200 a month for our service so that is just way too much for it to not be working half the time. The funny thing is the cable works just fine. Keeping the cable, but switching over the phone/internet to Knology. I have been working over a friends' house off and on for the past year and she has knology. Great connection and VERY consistent except for when they do maintenance. I so cannot wait to have new internet. I will be one happy bee

I live in Louisiana and have Cox also. When it storms in Texas, my upload speed goes to shit. It makes no sense to me, so unless they come and check the lines when it's storming in texas they say everything is just fine *sigh*

From everything i've read and heard the Motorola Surfboard 3.0 DOCSIS is one of the best 3.0 modems available for now If anyone knows of a better one, please enlighten all of us

I have a Motorola surfboard cable modem as well I'm not sure if it's 3.0 or whatever but I've had mines for a few months and so far so good,
the only thing I didn't like about it was that it so damn big LOL!!! but long as it works I'm cool with the size!!!

I switched over my ISP today and the download speed seems to be about the same (maybe istead of 28 download-when my old internet worked- it's around 31 now) The upload has drastically changed. Went from anywhere between 2.5-3.5.. It's averaging between 5-7. I was told it was because of the modem, so I'm VERY pleased. Thanks for the input on the modem ladies. I would have to say between the modem and switching internet I'm going to be much happier and make loads of more money. Yay for improvements

Update: I've had my new internet officially a few weeks ago and I have seen a major difference in my earnings because now I can actually consistently work. I am very happy with my first $1,200 week. Fuck yeah
