    Default High-end Custom Dancewear-Input Please!

    Hey Ladies,

I am looking to start up a high-end custom dancewear business in the next couple months to supplement my income and I would really value the opinions of girls on the site for market research. The product I want to sell would be aimed towards dancers working at mid-higher end clubs, or simply those with tastes that are not satisfied by the offerings of mainstream online retailers (snaz, yandy, etc.). The focus would be more on trendier gowns and lingerie and dancewear sets, literally built to make you look your best (I'm talking full bra support and boost for the girls, built-in corsets, and excellent construction). It irritates the shit out of me when my stuff from the store breaks/rips whatever after one or two nights of work. Not neccessarily because of the money I spent on it, most mainstream dancewear is relatively cheap, but because then I have to go out and buy more stuff which just seems wasteful, not to mention its annoying constantly having to shop to replace outfits. I figure this must annoy other girls too?

How much would you be willing to spend on a product like this? For example a gown, corset and panties, or 3-piece dancewear set (bra, panties, skirt).

    -under $100
    -$100-$200
    -$200-$300
    -$300+

So tell me what you think, do you think there is a market for this kind of dancewear? I was thinking of just starting on etsy and maybe calling a couple local clubs to see if they would let me bring some samples in to show the girls once I have some. Any input greatly appreciated

Bra/panties/skirt up to 200 but it better be fabulous.

I get dance stuff from the house mom at a club I dont even work at for 20-40 bucks. For some reason the 'hood' outfits have upped my $.

I'd buy nice clothing for sure, I already spend a lot at trashy but most of their stuff isn't made for dancers. They don't have easy to take off with zippers ect.

I'm so happy you're doing this, girl! Personally I wouldn't spend more than 100$ for a bra/skirt/panty set, but if there's a corset or gown involved then I'd for sure be willing to shell out up to 200$ or so, depending.

I usually only buy the bra with small shorts and thong combo when I get outfits. In my area the costume ladies sell them for 50 - 70.. I wouldnt go over 70. As for gowns and fuller peices, a high price would be noted for the use of fabic.. but I dont buy them so I cannot say what I would pay.

Yeah, the fabulousness is key I love working with metal (chains, zippers, trims) and other cool trims, and combining that with softer feminine components like feathers, lace, silk chiffons. I would describe the product as "designer" stripper wear, like if you could go shopping at holts for your outfits, you'd find this line

Cool idea. I vote for the 'under $100' price range.

Love to see your site when it's up!
I'd spend $200+ for a gown, as far as outfits, I'm rough on my clothes and I like variety so I tend to buy cheaply, $50 max for an outfit for me.

How about some pics of stuff you've already made? Internationally available?

I can't really say for smaller skimpier outfits but I always buy my gowns anywhere from $120-$160 and I don't even bat a lash.

I'd spend whatever if it fit me. I'm so tired of having to alter my stuff.

i think its a great idea! i wish i knew somebody who could custom make outfits for me at a decent price! i don't mind shelling out money for a fancy, super flattering, perfect, durable, one-of-a-kind outfit made to fit me perfectly , but at my club the people who come in sell boring, unflattering tube dresses ( that all look alike) for like 50 bucks or more. i usually buy pretty cheap ( 60-70 max) but if its an amazing outfit like a fancy gown that will last years i would definitely shell out 100-200. oh and i love etsy

This sounds like a really good idea! The most important thing about looking hot is having clothes that fit properly. I would be interested in a 3 piece set with skirt instead of gown. Depending on the fabric and embellishments I would spend $100-$200 on a set I really like. Good luck with your business venture!

I chose $100-200 but that is with gowns. I'll easily spend that on a beautiful, well-made gown.
