Question What is Your Pole of Choice?

Hey ladies. I'm seriously considering buying a pole for my home, and I want advice on what brand and type of pole I should get! I've had my eyes set on a Lil' Mynx for awhile now, but I've been out of the game for a few years, so I'm not sure if they are still a leading quality brand.

I'm also not sure on what type I should get. I see there are "petite" poles but I'm pretty sure I want a standard one. I'm leaning more towards stainless steel because that is what I'm used to, although more grip doesn't sound bad. And the colors are cute. I'm not sure if I should get a fully portable pole or just get a rotating pole for this house (even though I'm not sure if I'll be moving in the future). I'm actually a little confused by the Mynx website because they claim that their poles are removable but only a couple of their poles are "portable." Might sound like a stupid question lol but I'm not sure what the difference is.

So what's your favorite pole? Any advice for pole shopping is very much appreciated!

I just ordered a pole today...! I got a 45 mm x pole xpert titanium pole, the titanium is supposed to give a much better grip...I will get it in 1-2 days and will give you a review then. X pole is supposed to be the best from what I have heard, the pole studio where I danced had them. The xpert is both static and spinning and it comes with a bag so it is totally portable!

I've used a Lil' Mynx before and was very underwhelmed. It didn't spin well at all. You'd mount and it would maybe spin around twice before it would slow down to a stop, almost like it kept getting stuck. It also wobbled pretty badly...I saw a video of me on it and it was alarming--it almost looked like it was going to fall over.

I ordered an X-pole in titanium gold, but I haven't had the opportunity to install it yet. I'll update as soon as I set it up.

Well thanks for recommending X pole! They look to cost about the same and even if they're more expensive it's totally worth it for a quality pole. I'm looking forward to your reviews! Happy pole dancing!

I would prefer a 50mm BRASS platinum stage. X pole does not make brass poles in 50mm, and I don't like thinner poles.

Personally, i like a slightly slimmer pole, i have little hands and i find it much easier to grip/do tricks on thinner ones.Having said that, id always recommend x-pole as i have one (currently in my Mums loft) and i never had any problems etc with it.

I have a lil minx stationary removable pole. It is still technically "portable"--I've moved it back and forth between my place and a friend's a few times, it's just not very easily portable because the metal is all in one piece, unlike the x pole which comes in pieces. At one point I lived with a girl that had an x pole and I found it very sturdy but also a bit slippery in comparison to my lil minx. Also note that we had problems with the x joints in the x pole amd having the pieces get stuck together. I think you'll probably be happy with a purchase from either company, x pole is easier to set up by yourself but it can be done with lil minx as well.

^I love Lil Minx due to how sticky they are, but I'm moving to a larger house, and I think the platinum stage (brass 50mm) will be the best choice.

I would recommend getting a spinning pole that can be locked because some clubs have spinning poles and some clubs have stationary poles but if you get a pole that does both you can practice either way.

Yeah I'm personally interested in a rotating pole myself, but I've worked in clubs that have both. And I just love spinning lol. Thank you so much for the input I'm most likely looking at a titanium (the chrome is sold out atm lol) 50mm x pole. It's claiming that the titanium gold is good for grip so I'm excited to see how this works out.

Welp I just ordered my pole so in 4-8 business days I'll either be spinning around happily or desperately trying to insall it. I suck at most things mechanical (besides maybe computers lol) so I am a little worried that I might need some extra help. The website made it sound like it's easier to install but knowing me I'll be confused easily lol. I'm so excited guys! I hardly make big purchases online so I'm a little nervous, just bought 400 dollars worth of pole lol. Oh and I did decide on the x pert titanium gold 50mm. Thanks for all the help! I'm still looking foward to any reviews anyone wants to chime in.

I should have just asked the lady I just ordered from, but are the xpoles removable too? Like, it'd be nice if I could take it with me when/if I move but I'm willing to have just bought a permanent upgrade to this house lol.

You can remove x-poles. They are more slippery, but I like that. It makes the poles at the clubs that I work in easy to dance on because they are stickier.

50 mm chrome xpert xpole.....I also love the brass poles in my studio, not sure which brand they are since they're bolted to the ceiling and floor...For sturdiness, you can't go wrong with an xpole, one thing I do dislike about it, is that they tend to be more slippery than some but just get urself some "dry hands" and it works wonderfully

yeah I keep on hearing about the slipperyness but honestly I'm not too worried about it. I've never tried "dry hands" though is that a particular brand or what is it exactly? I remember one dancer I use to work with would wear lotion and the pole was pretty much ruined the whole shift even if you did clean it lol. So if I can dance with lotion pole I'm sure the slipperyness wont be that bad!

The one I have is removable. It's a pressure pole... with a very wide attachment at the top. It's insanely sturdy and for all intensive purposes, portable.

Welp I just looked it up because I've been getting lazy having people do research for me lol. Dry hands looks really nice I should have ordered some! I'm just looking at the xpole website again, though, so I might find it even cheaper somewhere else. Speaking of lotion, I noticed they had some PolePhysics "no slip" lotion and I thought that's a pretty nifty idea if it really works. I just usually skip lotion if I know I'm pole dancing but it'd be nice to be able to lotion in the morning again! Anyone have any experience with this supposedly non slipping lotion?

The ones in that studio sounds like Platinum Stage. Most studios I've been to use them. Also, PS give us (SW members) discounts on certain times of the year.

I sell all the products from the X-Pole site too and $9 for dry hands is pretty much the standard price. You can get other brands cheaper at sporting goods stores. It's the same as you'd use for golf or baseball. Make sure you get a chalk not a resin.
The Pole Physics works pretty well. You still have to put it on a couple hours in advance of any pole work though. I'm pretty sure using just a water based lotion like Lubriderm or Vaseline a couple hours before will work the same for a lot cheaper.

    What a stupid girl!

If I was her, I'd keep the pole to lose the baby weight and to tone up after losing it. I feel like punching that girl.

Just wanted to let you know that I have had my x-pole for about a week now and it is great! I had some problems at first with finding a good place to put it up as my ceilings are false...the only solid ceiling is not in an ideal place but it works!
