Default Getting my 25% TCA peel (the facial acid to end all acids) in the mail tomorrow

I'm not really worried about using this at home. I've read all of the 83 amazon reviews for the one I ordered 2-3 times.

Still, has anyone had this done? Currently I'm reading the reviews for a fourth time and since I finally figured out how to look
at pictures people post of their results (you have to go to that person's amazon profile and then you can see the pictures) I'm
looking at the progression so I know what to expect.

I've already done several 35% glycolic peels at home-- I'd say maybe eight in the last two months.

I haven't tried the one from Amazon....but I did use the TCA peel from MUAC. I was using peels to get rid of some sun damage from years of tanning, and because i am on a quest for perfect skin. I could post a picture of my skin a few days after...if I can figure out how to do that.

I was using glycolic and lactic acid peels at 40% for at least 6 months before moving on to this. With the 40% Glycolic, I can tolerate up to 12 minutes with some redness. I stopped getting much peeling and my skin no longer burn. So I decided i was ready for the TCA.

I started with the 12.5%. It definitely hurts alot more than the Glycolic. The first day, my face felt tight but no peeling, no redness. The second day, I started seeing some peels along my nose... as the days passed, the peeling gradually move from my nose area to my cheek. I used my regular cleanser and clarisonic (set to gentle) to gently exfoliate. I think this routine worked really well because everytime a spot start peeling, it's very light and it heals quick. Overall, I observed fresh, glowing skin and a more even skintone. I think I will repeat this 1 layer 5 minutes routine a few more times before I move on the 2 layers.

Just did a test spot on my left hand and will be seeing how things go.

It actually didn't sting very much on my first coating. Like, hardly at all. I put a much thicker coating on the second coating and it only frosted in one part and started stinging a bunch but not snot and tears heinous.

I rinsed it off and applied emu oil. It feels like I scraped it on stucco and the skin looks a little tight but it's not red or anything.

    so.......I did my face.

I made it thirty seconds before I went diving for the sink to wash my face.

No frosting before washing my face, but now my skin is that chalky white color....

so did I just frost really freaking quickly while washing?

oh man. trying it out on my hand did NOT prepare me for this.

yowsers! And this is after 8 35% glycolic peels in the past two months.

    *le sigh*

Did you apply only one layer? I would think that one layer for only 30 seconds wouldn't be effective enough for you to peel, but everyone's skin will react different.

If I were you, I would wait 4-5 days and see if you peel at all. If not, try another peel, and either leave it on longer, OR try layering it. After the second layer, you should see it frost almost right away.

I know what you mean about the chalky white face....it sucks when your body is nice and tan and your face is ghostly white...

eh, I'll wait several days and see what the skin obsessions person says via email about waiting one week versus four weeks. Oh man it burned!

I'm going to dilute it and cut it down to 12.5% and then maybe I'll have a shot of making it to the frosting point. Either that or I'm going to have my boyfriend pin me down until my face frosts.

When I did my left hand first as a test patch to see what would happen, that hand now looks 20-30 years older than my right hand because the skin's going on wrinkly and slightly scaly. It's fun to compare my left and right hand and know that there's a big difference. As far as my face...

I decided that since I'd only been able to wear the 25% first-layer of TCA for thirty seconds, that I would try to dilute it by half with water to get 12.5% and do the whole peel.

So the next day, I tried it again with a cool blowing hair dryer. I was able to get through the first layer. The second layer, I was bouncing up and down on my knees with the blowdryer aimed at my face trying to distract myself from the pain but I think I only made it 45 seconds.

My skin doesn't look that bad but it does get insanely dry, and there's a few patches that look a little pink underneath the toplayer so I'm really hoping that's not hyperpigmentation (though, with an IPL like someone suggested, or later keeping up with the TCA peels, it wouldn't be a problem so I'm not going to borrow trouble now by freaking out before the skin's actually peeled.) I did go out in the sun yesterday for awhile because there was stuff that HAD to get done, and I wore a 35 SPF on, I'm hoping that didn't fuck me over.

Before I do it the next time I'm definitely going to get a big hat and a powerful standing fan BEFORE doing this next month (or so the plan is.)

oh, and like a dip, I forgot both times to put vaseline on my lips. Once it hit my lips the second time, I ran to the bathroom, rinsed my lips and neutralized them with baking soda. There's still a little bit of peeling going.

Sometimes it itches and I have to try really hard to remember to press with my fingertips and not itch and tear the patches off. I have some chin stuff that's already curling up like it's starting to peel. The rest of it is hanging on. With the pink patches, it looks like my boyfriend's been beating me routinely for several weeks previous to this but not lately, so I'm curious what people who see me think.

I did burn a tiny patch underneath my chin because I must not have rinsed it off when I got everything else, so that's getting extra attention. It's just like a little scab the size of a pencil-top eraser.

Of course, the irony is, normally I sleep through the day, but lately I've been waking up between seven and nine am and going to bed around ten or eleven pm. This is unheard of for me, and follows some sort of twisted murphy's law because now I HAVE to go out during the day or go crazy inside. I'm going to try to trigger my period early so that at least I can get the pseudo crappy stuff out of the way with the crappy skin stuff.
