Long story short -- my 22 1/2 year old sister has a long history of drug use and abuse. Two and a half years ago she started using oxy and was able to get off it a year later. She moved to another city and things looked better. But then she moved back home and started hanging out with the same people, leading to her trying meth a year ago and quickly becoming addicted.
Her looks and mind have deteriorated at an impossibly fast rate.
It is REALLY HARD dealing with it and I'm not proud to say that for this reason I have kind of tuned it out. There is only so much you can do and I've done my best to help in the past...but now that she's unrecognizable in every way and launches into hysterical screaming at insults whenever any of us try to have a conversation I have given up. The only people allowed in, that she feels safe with, are other addicts. I get it.
ANYWAYS -- the important part:
An acquaintance told me about the Teen Challenge rehab centers which are free and have a high success rate but very Christian and very strict. My mom has been pushing her to go and finally -- after weeks of paperwork and preparation and hours of screaming and resisting at the last minute this morning -- she got in the car and my mom drove her to Southern California to drop her off.
I was all for the rehab and MY acquaintance told me about it and helped convince her to go. However, there are some scary things written about it (mind control, abuse, etc.) which I only just now stumbled upon:

I KNOW that at the root of my sister's addictions are some hardcore trauma. She has been raped, multiple abortions, very low self-esteem but covers it up with false confidence. Covering this shit up with "God" without exploring it and working through it is not gonna help.
So now I feel sick. I tried to help -- my parents were gonna kick her out, she would just keep using and living in motels and with junkies to get by...or this. It worries me that it is hard to get in contact with them once they are in. I don't know what to do, I doubt she'll stay anyway...ugh.
Has anyone been to or known of someone who has attended a rehab through this organization?
