Thumbs down "You look like a girl I had in my class...

Woke up to this comment on one of my blog posts from my site:
"You look like a girl I had in my class at [school I attended] in [city I lived in]"
SO of course this threw me into a bit of a panic mode. I don't recognize his name (but then again, I can't remember ALL the guys I talk to in my classes!)... I even tried googling the email address he listed (because you need to post your email to leave a comment) but nothing came up. Tried looking on facebook for mutual friends, nothing.
    Now what??

ETA: I haven't even approved his Comment yet, it's still sitting in my "Pending" list. BUT if I don't approve it, that'd make it look like he was right, right? I guess I could edit it to delete out the school and city, and approve it...?

Id be tempted to dismiss it totally in one short sentance leaving no room for him to come back with anything, a simple 'you wish i did' would suffice

Normally I would just think he was doing that blackmail crap, but since he actually listed correct info...

On the other hand you dont want to fiercely deny it or its going to make him think you have something to hide Im sure it'll be fine, if he's not certain its you i very much doubt he will make a stink over it all x
Luckily never happened to me, but i blur my face in all of my photos for this very reason!

personally if i were you, i'd just not approve it.
avoid it altogether.. i mean he has obviously seen you and has no way of knowing if its really you.
whether you reply or not, he may ask other ppl for opinions, but maybe he's too shy to admit what he looks at on the internet as well.

do whatever feels right! but that's what i would do.
maybe reply to the email saying "sorry i cant post comments about locations on the blog for safety reasons (or whatever) :p but im not from there, shame! itd be cool if i knew one of my followers by some chance of fate! " or whatever >.> lol maybe a terrible idea though idk, and idk if you give your email to followers so yea.

If it were me personally I'd probably just ignore it completely, and if he's human he'll realize what a dick move it was.

lol i had a nightmare about a similar situation last nite lol...
ok, ignore him, maybe cover your ass by sending him a message telling him that either way you don't appreciate him posting personal info that could possibly be about you BECAUSE THAT'S NOT THE PLACE
    or something
seriously if anyone i knew found out and posted personal info to see if it was me...I'd go find them and gut them for being so stupid....

If he didnt post locations I'd approve it, and reply with something like "oh everyone likes to imagine that I went to their school"

Honestly, Miss Ego you look like a girl I went to HS with too. I think you just have one of those school girl faces.

but since he was all exact about it I'd go with the other girls and ignore it. If he contacts you more directly or privately just explain that you do not share or make reference to any locations other than your county and you expect your fans to do the same.

I suspect this happens a lot, just guys usually don't say anything because its also awkward for them. I had it happen to me within 5 minutes of turning off geoblock. But geoblock doesn't work all the time anyway.

omgosh!!!!! i dont know what i would do!!!! I think maybe i would just say that people often say that I look like someone they know...they play it up and say its really annoying and that i often think i should dye my hair just so that i dont look like everyone else. idk if this helps-i really hope everything is ok!

Alright. I'll just leave the comment off my site, and if he says anything else I'll just say I hear that all the time.

I think I remembered who the guy is - we had an English class together in 2009 (and to be completely honest I only went to about six of the classes...) so for him to recognize me it's pretty crazy.

Thanks for your advice girls <3

you can also block his IP from viewing your site. There is a tutorial about it in verified. Usual disclaimer about geographic restrictions and other ways to lurk (like twitter) apply but can be satisfying to do anyway.
