Question Am I doing something wrong?

I feel like I'm doing something wrong with my escorting I put my base ad up on Eros last Friday, and on Monday they upgraded it to a VIP ad for me, and then I have an ad in the NYC section of TER and an ad on the Date-Check message board that I update nightly. I've also been trying to participate a little bit on the NYC discussion board on TER so people can see I'm legit. I've had 3 emails on TER, two of which asked if I had reviews yet (I don't) and 3 emails to my gmail. One passed screening and I'm waiting for him to get back to me when he wants to see me, one I'm still screening, and one wanted me to go to him immediately which I couldn't do without screening. I know I can't expect to put my ads up and have my inbox overflowing within the hour, but I thought there'd be more interest . I think I have a good ad/website/pics and my rates are standard for Manhattan.... I don't know what else to do. In the past I've seen girls talk about doing some kind of "TOFTT Special".... I'm interested in this because I think if I could get a few appointments and a classy review or two, it would really help. But I don't want to seem cheap or like I'm discounting myself or something. Any advice?? I don't want to post my ad/website here since it's open for lurkers, but I can PM it to anyone that wants to see.

Oh, and while I'm on the subject... I'm really debating whether to see one of the guys that emailed me. He gave me his name and cell phone number and said he was new to the "experience". I couldn't find anything on google/VerifyHim at all and he has no datecheck/TER handles etc, so I asked him for employment info or provider refs. He says he's an independent consultant and gave me two provider refs, both of which said they'd seen him and he was a nice guy and they're legit providers with recent reviews etc. He's from Houston and travels to NYC for work, apparently. I just can't find anything on him as a person, and when I asked for the provider refs/employment info, in his reply email he said "you're not law enforcement are you? " which made me wary. What do you guys think, would you see him?

When I work on the east coast it always helps when I select the "available now" option on Eros. Obviously you still have to screen them, but it gets them to call at least, lol. As far as the guy, I usually don't see clients I have a bad gut feeling about even if their references do check out. Sometimes girls are afraid to say anything negative about the guy because they're afraid you'll tell him what they said (sucks but that's the way it goes sometimes). You might want to ask for a few more references to see if it helps you feel more comfortable. Hope this helps!

You are probably not doing anything wrong but I wouldn't know without looking at your ads/website.
You will just have to wait until someone TOFTT! PLEASE for crying out loud, do not offer a TOFTT special.
When you start offering discounts guys start to feel like they're entitled. Trust me. Good luck.

I have heard that some guys are a little leery of a new ad so they wait to see if it stays around for a bit. Maybe that is the reason. If you don't feel it just pass or ask for more info. In my area pictures that are to "professional" looking sometimes get overlooked because the guys think they are not really going to get the girl in the picture. Just stuff i have heard from a couple of guys. Of course I am far from New York. IDK - I agree don't start off at a big discount.

Get at least two good reviews by big hobbyists and you're good.
Nothing wrong with pro pics. A professional needs
professional pics. Pro pics more money. No one complained about mine.

to get your foot in the door - it might be easier to sign on with an agency (under a different name) just for the time being. I did that until I was able to get to a meet and greet, where I made several contacts and was able to get someone to TOFTT! after he posted my first review, I was able to get approved with P411 and RS2K which helped my legitimacy A LOT! So get creative and figure out how to be "verified" in as many ways as possible

    good luck!

So if you want to be with me
With these things there’s no telling
We just have to wait and see
But I’d rather be working for a paycheck
Than waiting to win the lottery
Besides maybe this time is different
I mean I really think you like me

As I was doing research on joining the business, I spent a lot of time researching the New York ads/websites - do you think it could be partly that Manhattan has just so many providers? I think there's potential to do very well there since there are so many high earning men, but at the same time, there's a lot of competition, particularly at the mid level, from what I can see.

Also, do you think perhaps men are wary due to the Anna Gristina mess? Any time there's a big scandal like that I would think people are nervous to reach out to anyone new.

As far as the guy who's an independent consultant - regardless if he's independent or not, if he's worked with any sort of big name client companies, he should have some Google presence, articles or papers on projects he's worked on. If there's nothing at all out there, something's fishy. Either he's not really a consultant or something else is up.

At the *very* least, he should have a LinkedIn profile - he *needs* that as a consultant. If there's not one for him, there's a problem.

^^ Very true about LinkedIn LMB. I'm going to start from scratch and re-do all my screening for him, and then decide if I feel comfortable enough seeing him in my gut. His two provider refs do put me at ease, especially since both girls have other very recent reviews and so are obviously still in the biz, etc. But having no forum handles, and even mentioning LE, counteracts that. Both he and one of his refs said he's new to this, so it could be that he just doesn't know better... but who knows.

Obviously with offering a discount, I wasn't planning on being like "TOFFT Special Offer Discountz!!" or anything like that. I just considered posting something along the lines of, "offering an introductory rate for my special first gentlemen" or something. But I'm going to hold off a bit longer. I'm anxious that I haven't had any appointments yet after paying for all my ads and things, but I have had a few different ladies have told me that it was a few weeks until they started getting appointments, and to be patient initially, so I'm trying to stick to that. It's weird, last night I was thinking about how I didn't know what to do, and another provider I've become friends with emailed me to see how it was going and told me to stick with it and have faith that it would work out. Later that night I got two different emails from interested guys.

I do have professional pics, and my website and ad are well put together. I just wish there was something I could do to generate interest, besides waiting patiently.

There's a meet and greet coming up in my area in May, have any of you ladies every been to one of those, and did it help? I'm considering signing up for it, but I'm not sure if it would be a good idea or bad, to mingle with various prospective clients. A few girls who went to the last one said they came home with several tentative appointments, so perhaps it would be helpful.

I agree with getting quality pictures. I was just sharing comments I have heard from guys about them. Not saying it is right or wrong. Maybe until you get reviewed they think that way. IDK - Don't get discouraged , they will come , just keep taking your time to screen the ones who do contact you.

Mckenna, What are your rates now? If they are $400 an hour and you have no reviews - it could take months before you even get your first client. A lot of girls think they can start escorting at $400-$500 an hour. They have a very warped view of how this works. That is not how it works. If you don't have any reviews you should offer some sort of "Introductory rate" NOT a "toftt special". Toftt specials are tacky and you will only attract cheap hobbyists. You can even start a blog on your website to showcase your personality. Blogs are GREAT for your search engine rating and popularity in the industry. Good luck.

^ I agree. I totally thought once I put myself on the "market" that the men would just be flocking. It was such a huge personal decision for me, I though there was no way my arrival on the scene would just be like any other day to everyone else, and blend in with the many other profiles.

Patience. If you've marked your price too high, I'd suggest starting out at $100 less. You can learn the ropes and not be expected to give a 100% flawless performance (though I've made blunders in the $400 range too that the guys have been forgiving of.) After a month or two, then you can up your price and grandfather in the previous fellas for a couple of months while you make the transition higher, be it by $25/50/100.
    Ungoogle yourself:

    Also, now offering phone sexins!

You may not be doing anything wrong. Manhattan is a highly competitive market. You may want to let another member here review your ad just in case. Also, if you change the photos on your Eros ad, they'll put you back on their 'What's New' page which may help you get more views.

As far as the client asking if you're LE, there's an old myth floating around that if you ask someone if they're a cop, they have to respond with the truth. I don't believe he's LE, just misinformed. I don't see him as a risk especially if his references check out. Just to be on the safe side I'd make sure the providers are legit as well (ads, website). But if you feel uncomfortable about seeing him, don't.
