I missed Easter with my boyfriend's Catholic family today too. I had a legit reason as well (migraine + defending my thesis soon), and while they "understood," it was still with a hint of "Why doesn't she like us?" Some families are just like that, and often, they're just so group-centric that they need constant confirmation. If nothing else, they often perpetuate minor interpersonal drama in the spirit of some perverse unspoken fun. I'm sure they're just being typical overbearing parents and making something that isn't about them be about them; the mother probably doesn't even think that you dislike them at all. If they're not the super evil overbearing ones, you'll be fine. And I will envy you. Oh, future in-laws...
I'm like you, I love my family to death but i don't need to constantly see them. You didn't mess anything up, if it was that important to them your bf should have warned you. Either way I am sure they will get over it if you show up next time they invite you.
"Well done. Here are the test results: You are a horrible person. I'm serious, that's what it says: 'A horrible person.' We weren't even testing for that."

Oh I wouldnt worry about it. It has only been 6mths, and Im sure they are still just getting to know you, are curious about you and probably were looking forward to seeing you..and with that holiday being important to them, they probably took it a bit personally but I really dont think it will have any affect if you all have a nice time and pleasant towards each other. As you all get to know each other, then they will understand you, you them, and know that stuff like this isnt too much of a big deal to get worried about.
I absolutely adore my almost in-lawsI would have been the luckiest girl in the world if my ex and I had gotten married. Well, not so much cause of him
He just has the most awesome family....they still call me their daughter in law anyway. lol
Don't blink. Don't even blink. Blink and you're dead. Don't turn your back. Don't look away. And don't blink!
