Default Anyone Else Throwup After Work?

Last night wasn't by any means my worst night. I did have a guy doing a lap dance stick his tongue out and try to lick my nipple and I had another guy shove his hand into my crotch and then lick his finger . Like he didn't even consider that I might be on the rag or have a disease and of course he was married. I tried to fight him off but he was a strong one and the private dance area wasn't being watched.

So anyway.. when I got home and peeled off my eyelashes and took a shower I started retching and gagging. And then I realized that once this begins (the throwing up) it just keeps happening. Before I quit at a different club I would regularly throw up in my car on the way home. I always keep empty paper cups in my car so I just keep driving, one hand on the wheel, one hand on a paper cup.

Does this happen to anyone else?

No. Honey, if this is what this job is doing to you, find a clean club with bouncers that do their job or maybe consider a different line of work. This post really suggests to me this might not be the industry for you. You shouldn't be subjected to assaults that no one does anything about (so much so you mention it as casually as you'd mention the weather) nor should you be made so ill by the goings on that you're having physical reactions. It's not ok. The damage you're doing to yourself (psychological and physical) isn't worth it. You deserve better.
Sorry I missed church. I was too busy practicing witchcraft and becoming a lesbian.

No, it's not normal and is a huge sign that something isn't right. Unless it's an unrelated health issue, your body is basically telling you that it can't handle the stress and anxiety you're putting it through. Switch clubs, or switch industries.

Whoa, what's going on with the comments about "what you're putting your body through" and the "damage you're doing yourself?" The OP is being sexually assaulted in a club that fosters that kind of atmosphere and most likely normalizes it to the point that she's asking if everyone experiences it. The other posts smack of victim-blaming,to me. Yes, if she continues to work in the club, that would be a kind of self flagellation. The fact that she's posting here suggests she's seeking help.

Anyway, Lifetravelergirl,to answer your question, I never barfed after a shift, but I did experience things like the ones you describe. You need to get out of that club ASAP and get some help. Call the Rape Abuse and Incest Hotline - they can counsel you immediately and hook you up with local resources. 1-800-656-HOPE. http://www.rainn.org/

It doesn't mean you're "not cut out for the industry" if you become physically sick after getting sexually assaulted. It means you're a human being stuck in toxic surroundings.

It may be stress related but I don't think it's just one thing. Being molested every night is (as far as I can tell) completely normal in the stripper industry. I spend half my time removing hands from parts of my body whether it is a private dance or sitting at a table or even just standing or walking sometimes. I won't be leaving the industry any time soon, I can't afford to quit.

I suggest you read or re-read the thread "Preserving your emotional/psychological wellbeing." It seems as though you're making an excuse as to why you're getting physically ill after work. Think back to a time before you started dancing and you were stressed out. Did that stress make you throw up?

Being molested every night is NOT normal! Yes we are sex workers but we have to understand it is imperative to stand our ground and walk away from any situation that makes us feel uncomfortable. Make it a habit to collect the money before you dance and listen to your gut. If something doesn't feel right, stop. The more you continue to put up with bullshit, the closer you are to shattering your self esteem and self worth. $20 or $2,000, its not worth it if it's making you sick.

You shouldn't have to spend half your shift dodging hands. Walk away in the middle of the dance if you have to. Guys can sense when you're vulnerable and they can see that you aren't strong enough to protect what is yours. These men are sick and a lot of them get off knowing they're making you feel like a piece of meat.

If you can't stop dancing, please learn to be assertive and learn to defend yourself and your body.

this makes me sad. The only time Ive thrown up after work is after drinking too much alcohol... I do feel violated sometimes though. For me sleeping helps and just remember the money is not worth your stress... When you start getting run down and thus not enforcing your boundaries enough a break always helps to revive your spirit.

No babe, it's not normal. In the 9 years I danced, I never had a guy grab my crotch. I had a few sneaky lickers, but not many. I chose clubs very carefully, and I know my own limits. I would rather make $300 in an air dance club than $2k in a full contact club.

You need to find a new club. This shouldn't be happening to you.

The comments were about what she's doing to herself by staying in that type of environment if she's not cut out for it. Some people are ok in extras clubs. Clearly she isn't. Try not to make things out to be anything more than what they are. Obviously she came here for help. No one blamed her.
