    Dizzy iPhone or Droid

    I actually have 2 questions:

1--- If I were to upgrade to a brand new smartphone would it be in my best interest to go with an droid or a iphone?

2--- Verizon vs. AT&T: who's the better cellular service provider in terms of cost, coverage, and quality?

Unless you already own a bunch of apple stuff... I prefer the droid. - I have the Razr Maxx
If you already own primarily apple products, though, it's convenient to be able to sync EVERY DEVICE YOU OWN. lolz

Verizon. Verizon. Verizon. OMG they are so superior to AT&T it's not even funny.
I had AT&T twice. Once a decade ago... and then again 3-4 years ago when it was the only way to have an iphone. Both times I had TERRIBLE service. Dropped calls constantly... hardly ever had signal (even though they claim to have more signal in more places than Verizon)... My iphone dropped internet connection constantly... it was just a nightmare.
I've had zero problems with Verizon, though. Ever.

My ex had a droid and I have an iPhone. I genuinely think it's just personal preference... If you can have a play about with both I totally suggest that. I love my iPhone but then I have always liked apple things. They suit my brain better.

He claimed his drone was more technically advanced than the iphone... That doesn't really matter to me. I liked the iphone because it does everything I want (and more) and doesn't hurt my brain. And it's so shallow, but all the pretty cases and accessories and the fact it's also my ipod was massively attractive to me. And if something breaks (which it hasn't) I can just take it directly to an apple store and have it fixed or exchanged.

I can't help with your package deals since i'm in the UK. I don't even know if what I have said is useful at all, but since you're in a hurry I thought I'd take a shot.

    Yup. Pretty much.
For me - the iphones are cool... but I picked up my droid and in the first 10 seconds we just 'clicked'. I was like "Oh shit. This makes way more sense to me!"

I have a Droid and like the other comments say it really depends on how your brain works. It sounds weird but it's totally true. My brothers went from Droids to iPhones and like them way better. I played around with their iPhones and didn't understand any of it. My brother just gave me his old iPod Touch and I'm having trouble understading that. My Apple just are compatible I guess. Lol.

As far as Verizon vs AT&T, Verizon has better coverage and service for sure.

I don't think AT&T even sells the Droid (Motorola) unless you're talking about Android phones. I just got the HTC Vivid LTE. Pretty nice and I prefer it over iPhone as I'm not a fan of Apple products. My roommate just got the LG Nitro. Also nice and has a simpler interface than mine. Samsung phones seem to be dominating the Android and rightful so, Galaxy S II is probably the best phone out there. They are much less user friendly than iPhones but you'll get the hang of them within a few hours of usage.

AT&T or Verizon. I've had both, never an issue with either another than At&t straight garbage in NYC. I went with at&t again recently because not too many people are using 4G "LTE" (Both providers have it, At&t LTE is extremely limited though and is actually HSPA+) yet it's still ridiculous fast and Verizon is a bit more expensive.

How is the droid better than the iphone? Or vice versa? I'm so confused.

I have verizon now. I live in the NYC metro area.

Does one phone have better features than the other--- based on your personal experience... the sales-people in the stores think everything is better than jesus. Ugh.

I need some straight talk real deal TRUTH and I have no one else to turn to but the amazing members of this board.

As far as AT&T vs. Verizon goes I'm trying to save some dough.... Are the short-falls of AT&T mitigated by the price difference when compared to Verizon?

Simply put, iPhone is simpler to use for the average consumer. It's very easy to work with and has a massive app store. Very reliable phones and well polished. All iPhones past or present use the iOS so it's easy to use if you've become familiar. It's a much less confusing product while being very good.

Androids are a bit different in the sense they all don't use the same tech or OS (Operating System) However a lot of Androids have integration with Google. So email, searching, youtube, etc are easy. Plus you can actually use Flash which is all over the internet. App store is still not as good as Apples. Can be a bit buggy but again, there's probably an app to fix it.

The biggest factor for me in picking an Android phone over an iPhone is the customizable aspect. It's far better (Unless you jailbreak your iPhone). You can make the phone "yours" and fit your style. Again, I recommend playing with both an iPhone and Android phone without a salemans jabbing at you. Just have them point out options within the phone as you use it.

If you live in NYC my advice is don't even waste your time with At&t. I'm not joking. It's straight terrible. Verizon has good service there as does T-Mobile and Spirit if I can remember.

Oh another thing is size. Androids can be a bit big. Battery life can suck depending on which phone.

Blehhhhhh. Why does this stuff have to be so complicated?

I guess I'm shy in terms of telephones...... this would be my 3rd cell phone. I've had a motorola krazr and a samsung rogue (which I loathe by the way). I don't want to make a bad decision and I feel as though Verizon is charging me up the wazoo for nothing. I just don't want to get stuck for another 2+ year contract for a phone that I detest.

My step mom uses T-Mobile and she's in NYC. She seems to like it and I can't recall her having connection or drop call issues.

The rates are all going to be around the same depending on your contract. Verizon has the best coverage and At&t has the worst in NYC (Of major networks). If you're in NYC plus travel a lot, Verizon is your safest bet but as you know it can be a bit more expensive.

There's also Metro PCS and Virgin (Division of Spirit). They're cheaper but I don't know much about their service and coverage. I know a lot of people in NYC use them though.

I just got iphone through work to replace a blackberry, and I really enjoy it. I don't really use many features, and I can get a day and a half out of the battery which is nice.

Personally... I prefer Motorola droids... because they seem to be made a bit tougher. I broke 2 Galazy S's in a week by magic. Like... Get in the car. Put phone in purse. Get out of car. Check phone. Shattered screen. My Motorola, though, has survived being thrown (by accident, lol) and dropped about a bajillion times with zero issues.

This is a valid point... BUT. There are new droid phones like the Razr Maxx that are designed to have greater battery life.

It's called Swype... and it's the shit.

I'm just saying the Galaxy S II by actual hardware specs is the probably best phone in the market. Which isn't saying much because a new phone is the best every few monthes haha. Samsung is gaining a ton of shares in the market cause their phones are overall really really good. HTC has fallen off quite a bit but I like mine. Never used a recent Droid so can't comment.

But hey, that's why they offer insurance for $10/month so when you throw it. You can get a new one.

No question. My Vivid has good battery life even with heavy use. However it's the TS first smartphone so I assume she might not aware of the difference in battery life from her phone of now to upgrading into a smartphone. My old phone could go days upon days without charging. My HTC.....yeah....not so much

Oh absolutely. I was just pointing out that the durability is definitely lacking on those new Samsung phones. Which is surprising and disappointing because Samsung is typically a very good quality phone.

T-Mobile has month to month plans in case you're worried about signing a contract. The only drawback is that you have to buy the phone. So you'd probably be talking like $250-400 up front. Their highest priced plan is only like $70, and that's for unlimited talk, text, and data.

I ran over my galaxy phone in the snow and didn't even have a cracked screen. Dropped it repeatedly (I have dropsy I swear), never broke. Never had to replace it. I dropped my new iPhone on the kitchen floor and shattered the screen. got a new iPhone, dropped it while getting out of my car. Shattered the screen again. Got a new phone, dropped it AGAIN (sensing a pattern?) shattered screen. Again.

    I prefer droid.
