Default taxes: 1099-payer's federal ID number: where to put? (esp SF CLUBS)

    Hello girls!

I danced in san francisco and i got a bunch of 1099's.
I am using taxslayer and am filing out a schedule C but NOWHERE does it show me where to put the payer (gold club SF, BT, Hustler club SF, etc)'s payer's federal identification number!??

for those girls that do their own taxes, can you tell me where you guys put the payer's federal identitfication number?

It only shows to put how much, but i know we need to put the payer's ID number too!!! (somehwere....sigh..)

    thanks!!

I don't use taxslayer. But, most software has two different ways to put income in schedule C. One, enter each 1099 individually. It usually comes up before the business income questions. But, some programs have it after. The other way, is to enter a total number for income on Schedule C. So long as that is higher than the total of your 1099s, you should be alright. However, all the programs I am familiar with do add in the 1099s, so don't double income yourself. If you manually enter the 1099s, the TPIN should be the second question. If you don't enter 1099s, the good news is you never have to enter the TPIN. A huge caveat though, the service will do a match of 1099s to your SSN or TPIN and if they come up with 1099s you don't list, that is usually an audit trigger.

TurboTax allows the entry of multiple 1099's ... with these entries translating into a 'supporting detail' attachment to Schedule C which lists each separate 1099 payer, each individual 1099 amount, etc. H&R Block does the same ( human or software ). No idea about TaxSlayer, unfortunately.

As Zofia correctly pointed out, if the IRS receives a 1099 report with a particular name and SS#, IRS computers will automatically attempt to match up a corresponding 1099 inclusion on a tax return with the same particular name and SS#. If this automatic computer match attempt is unsuccessful, a 'yellow flag' will be waved at a human IRS auditor. Whether or not that 'yellow flag' turns into a 'red flag' precipitating an audit depends on the human IRS auditor's judgement once the tax return with the same particular name and SS# is looked at. Indeed a total Schedule C income listing that more than covers the amount reported on the unmatched 1099 will be less 'risky' than a total Schedule C income listing that appears to have 'forgotten' to include income from that ( and potentially other ) 1099's.
