If you ran-
Ef that heat! That was not the race we qualified and signed up for. Just finishing today was an accomplishment. The elite, Mutai, pulled out of the race!
If you cheered-
Thank you! It was like Mardi Gras out there!

I didn't make it out to cheer this year but that heat was unbelievable! I was working about ten miles from Boston and when I went outside for lunch my first thoughts were of the runners. The Marathon committee actually offered to let anyone who wanted to bow-out run next year with a waived registration fee.
Congratulations on finishing!
They actually weren't waiving the registration fee. They were just giving peeps a guaranteed entry for 2013. Still really awesome of them tho. Most of us runners are from out of town tho (or out of the country), so it is expensive to get here and stay... I think most people ran. But their were tons who just stopped to walk. And these are the best crop of runners around. Qualifying is not a cake walk. I did not walk. Oh, how I wanted to stop! But, my cousin's middle school class was watching my progress online. There was NO WAY I was going to teach those middle schoolers to give up!

Congrats! Just showing up is half the battle
And like ly old marathoner gf used to say "the first 26 miles is easy...its the last 0.2 that fuck you up."

I was in Ashland\Hopkinton where it started with a few friends. Was a good time
