Default Question for anyone w/ the Paragard IUD --

I've had it in for almost a year now and my periods have definitely gotten waaayyy heavier and cramps hurt 10x more. But my PMS is practically gone and I have no weight gain or other side effects. My sex life with my boyfriend has also improved a lot. So overall I'm really happy with it.

However, I've noticed that today (day 2 of bleeding; changing my tampon every hour) I have been incredibly tired and foggy. I slept for 12 hours and had weird dreams. Have any of you had issues with the exponentially increased levels of blood loss that come along with the Paragard and/or experienced anemia after having it for awhile? Or maybe it's a zinc-copper inbalance (which I am probably prone to from eating so many plant foods)?

I've had my Paragard since 2003, and I have very easy periods so this has never happened to me (even with my Paragard all I need is light tampons, never get cramps etc) BUT heavier bleeding and more cramping is pretty normal. The rule of thumb is if you're changing a tampon or a pad every hour and it is SOAKED, you need to get looked at. Call PP or your regular dr.

I had these issues for a year before I got it pulled. I was filling up my mooncup every half hour to hour on my worst day, and bleeding 3 weeks on one week off. Tired as hell plus anemic but apparently it was all in my head/i was causing it.

After I give birth to bubs I'm going to try this form of birth control, since its the step under permanent sterilization and I have gotten pregnant on the pill and depo and hormones can mess with breast feeding. Out of the few people I know that have them none have complained about bleeding but I would certainly see my Dr if your having effects like that.
