    Default Getting Started with Payoneer

Ok, so after a check went missing in the mail, I am thinking I should switch to getting paid by payoneer. I've done my research on the forum, but I couldn't find an answer to this question (maybe I didn't look hard enough...I suck with the search function sometimes!).

Is there a delay in payments when you sign up?

I'm with SM. If I go to my payment options, and switch it to payoneer, I have to sign up for payoneer. (I haven't clicked it yet, because I don't want to get into a situation where payments are affected, but I am assuming that when you do that, it will link you through to the website to sign up, or do you have to do that separately?) But in another thread, OJenni mentioned that it took 2 MONTHS to get her card to her in Canada. Well, I'm in Canada too, and I can't wait two freaking months without getting paid - this is my only job!!!

So how does that work? Do you edit your payment option to payoneer to do the sign up, and then switch it back to check until your card arrives, at which point, you would switch it back again? Or do you have to sign up and not get payments until your card arrives? I would really like to switch, at this point, but I can't really afford to miss a single check - we just moved, I just paid my taxes, and that tapped me OUT!
I take cash, debit or credit. I just don't take shit.

I got my card while I was with ImLive. So I didn't have to wait for a payment, my card arrived before my next imlive payment which is twice a month. If you have another site that you are inactive on you can sign up with that cam company and then wait to switch your SM to payoneer. I hope you understand what I mean... That way you don't miss any SM payments, and you're signing up with someone else, and then on SM you can switch it to payoneer and say 'I already have a payoneer acct, please use this one (SM will send you to payonner and there is a link for this.).

It sounds way more confusing than it is.

    Hope I helped lol

what I personally did was change the method of payment , work on the site that paid me with it just enough so that there is a + balance ( they take out $25-$45 to issue the card),,, and then meawhile, work my other 2 sites that were paying me by wire.......
so yes i have waited... there was a bit of a delay in the begining maybe 3 weeks or so , everyting all together..
but, ManyRoses, now I am looking to get rid of the card and get checks .........
There is a total of 2-3% in fees to withdraw $ from ATMS'... that means that our already low commision from sites that pay with Payoneer , got EVEN LOWER!....
    2-3 % lower........ ridiculous......

I signed up for the card with an old LJ account and altough I never ever got payed with that account, I got the card totally free. No card issuing fee, no activation fee, no nothing. LJ advertises in their FAQ how cool they are, cause it is free for their models and it seems to be true.

Yep, different partners have different fee's. Our activation fee is $12.95.

If you use your card instore (not all accept so remember to test/check it) then its free to use.

We can issue you a card if you wish. Sent a PM to your inbox.

There's def. going to be a delay, but just for getting your card. I'm in the US and it took me 7 days to get the card (being on the east coast). Just remember that even though payoneer says they are out of NY, NY the cards get issued from Chicago, IL. From what they said they average the shipping time at 2 weeks. Granted I'm not sure how it works for Canada.

If you order your card and it gets accepted on a weekend it won't be printed out or shipped then. It take 1-2 business days to ship out your card once it's printed. They kept telling me my card was shipped the same day it got accepted which was a saturday. Then later I was told they don't print or ship out on weekends. So those days have to be included before it even gets shipped.

On a side note- not sure how this works. If you get accepted to payoneer for the card, they may be able to set up ACH or regular bank transfers through to your bank until you get your card. Just a thought, not sure if it would work for you.

Thanks ladies! I think that I am going to take PJ up on her offer, get a card that way, and then once it is up and running, I can switch my SM account and not worry about any delays or hiccups!!

@TM1975 - that actually made perfect sense! lol And that's basically what I am going to do.
@Glasses - you are right about OJenni...I did some more digging, and found out that the delay WAS due to the postal strike. Phew!
@Fridays - I know that the fee is there, but honestly, I'm kind of OK with it, if it means getting my money easier, faster, and with no problems with the damn postal system! Especially because I would just let the money sit around on the card, and then pull it all once a month on the first, and use that for the rest of the month - I wouldn't be using the ATMS etc every day, so it would minimize the fees. I think that the fee also stands for transferring into your bank, so I would do that. If I make $1000 a week (nice round number!) and pull my money once a month, then I pay around $100 of that as a fee. Yeah, I would rather not pay it, but I'd rather pay $100 and have a stress-free life, than save $100 and deal with the kind of stress I've had in the past couple weeks. $100 a month is worth it!
@PrincessJenny - Got your PM! Thanks - replied.

The other thing that is nice about Payoneer is that you can switch the SM payments on payoneer to get direct deposited to your bank account. I don't get my payments until Tuesday now because it is an extra transfer, but the SM fee to transfer from payoneer to your bank account is $3.00.

So basically this way, your SM goes to payoneer and then transfer it to your bank account, which does take a couple of extra days, but you don't have to deal with the conversion fees, and you pay $3 ($5 if you want immediate load) to load the money to payoneer anyway, so you're saving quite a bit for waiting a few extra days, if you're able to.

I was also talking to Nissam, and although fees range from company to company, it looks like the fee to transfer to a bank account (as a one-off, not an auto transfer like TM1975 mentions above) is $5-10 a pop. So.....I could save my payments on my payoneer card, and dump it over to my bank once a month for $10??? Um, yes please. That is totally worth the money, and is less than the SM fee for direct bank transfer, even if that option was available to everywhere in the world!

I didn't realize we could just transfer it whenever we wanted without setting up a DD scenario. Interesting information ManyRoses Thanks!

Well, I'm not 100%. Because fees etc change depending on country and who you get it through, and I am not signed up just yet, I haven't read through T&C fully. But that is what it sounds like to me! It would also be pretty useful - depending on how much you make!

Hmmm...math moment. Assuming that you pay a load fee of $3 a pop, and the bank transfer fee is $10 a pop....if you don't need the money each week, but can do one big dump every month for rent etc, you would save money! Not a huge amount, but based on 4weeks p/month, you would save $2 a month doing one big transfer. That may be pennies, but over a year, thats a couple glasses of wine!

Hmmm...I shall have a look - I don't think that I actually have an active account with LJ, so depending on what fees are from PJ, I'm not sure it would be worth the trouble of signing up...but Ill definitely check!
