    Default PNF (isometric) Stretching

hey guys, i tried to do a search with no luck, but i was wondering if anyone had any luck with PNF stretching to do the splits? i am NOWHERE near the splits, and i have been stretching but i don't feel like i'm making much progress. i did some PNF stretching for front splits today, in addition to my normal static stretching, and i'm feeling pretty good about it. so, yeah, just wondering if anyone else used PNF stretching.

how often do you do them? i've been reading conflicting information. some sites say it's okay to do it everyday and other sites say only to do them like 4 - 5x weekly.

I just looked up PNF stretching and found that I have been doing it for years without knowing what it was called lol. When I was first trying to get my splits, I would:

-get in a split position and hold it for 30 sec to 1 minute (both right and left legs)
-lying on my back, pull one leg up (imagine pulling knee/shin up to your face) with the other leg still on the floor. Keeping the lifted knee straight, hold this position for 30 sec to 1 minute and switch leg, repeating.

Just doing those, I was able to achieve both left and right splits in about 3 months. The key is consistency and repeating these throughout the day. (watching tv, after shower).

    Hope I could help

I don't do it every time for every stretch. I alternate which stretches I do it for. Then for the actual split stretch, I do it every other day.
