    Default Puppies!

    Finally I found a new apartment, and it's pet friendly! I am an animal lover, but the next step now is to find some furbabies.

    I do plan on adopting if possible, but am not discounting breeders in my area. I live in the city, but there is a large park next door and the city is very walkable. This dog is coming with me -everywhere-, so something smaller would be ideal. One of my friends does a program where she takes her puppy to visit with the elderly, I think that's so sweet! Just something to keep in mind...

    I've narrowed my choices to a yorkie or a king charles cavalier. Hoping for a girl. Could anyone recommend a breed or share their experiences here? Pictures to follow!

    I love King Charles Cavaliers but every single one that I've known has been prone to 'excitement weeing'... you know;

    MUM MUM, I'M SO GLAD YOU'RE HOME... and you have a wet carpet. Or MUM MUM THE POSTMAN IS HERE... wet carpet. ANOTHER DOG WENT PAST OUTSIDE! ... wet carpet.

    I'm not sure if that's something you can fix with training... My friend's mum used to breed them and they are such beautiful dogs, so loving and full of personality!

    Go to a shelter or rescue group there are many purebred available through these groups.

    The peeing thing? You can't really train it out of them. Both of my dogs did it, and NOTHING I did (even took them to a professional-twice) it didn't work. Cavaliers are also really excitable in general.

    I'd get the Yorkie, or go to a shelter.

    After Maltese, Yorkies are my favorite breed. I've never owned a Yorkie so I can't offer advice, but I love their energy.
