I was already sold on menstrual cups from a health standpoint, but this...this has me freaking out.

OMFG.

Grossest thread title ever. And I once started a thread about roadkill art.

This just makes me love my mooncup even more.

God, their response to her is just as gross... Nothing to be concerned about, its the same mold that grows on vegetables, WTF?! That is nasty..seriously.
I do use tampons sometimes...really rarely, just depends, but when I do, I use o.b., it was my ex bf crazily enough who got me hooked on those, because he didnt like seeing the applicators in the trashbin, and they are more discrete if I have to change out at someone home or what have you.
But 80% of the time I use Instead, Ive been using that brand for about 10y now...I started out only using it if I was going to get laid during "that time of the month" and now I use it almost exclusively.
The other 15% (I dont know...just playing with statistics here) I use sea sponges. Started using it for escorting, and love it so much Ive started using them more.
But Ive also started using pads again for the first time since I was a teenager..maybe cause Im sick of always having something stuck in me, I dont know lol
Don't blink. Don't even blink. Blink and you're dead. Don't turn your back. Don't look away. And don't blink!
I'm going to see the Moldy Tampons at Lollapalooza this year.

Yikes! Time to get some soft cups.
Just wanna throw my vote for the Intstead Cups too! As camgirls/sex workers we need this option. Since discovering them it's the rare occasion I use a tampon... keep a box for guests lol! Haven't tried the sea sponges yet but I do plan to invest in some to try nextAnd can I just say in case you didn't already know the bleach they put in tampons can make you have a longer period cuz ur body rejects it or something was what I read somewhere? I used to have regualr periods last 5 or 6 days. Since switching I've noticed they last 3 or 4 days only. AND best for the environment lol I know gross but for real
I'm a total convert haha!

I use ob tampons and you can see them because there's no applicator. I'm sure you'd tell if they were moldy.

http://www.jadeandpearl.com/catalog/...products_id=18 These guys need to start paying me for spruiking their products so much, I prefer sponges to cups as they are superior in comfort and insertion.

Not sure whether to gross out my fb and post this as a warning.
I don't use applicators and only on work nights, but gets me thinking again about the sponges.

ugh. i tried the cups a couple times and it was like nothing was there. i couldn't get them in the right position to work properly. waahhhh :/
I use jade and Pearl sea sponges. Best option for me. Comfortable, reusable, don't dry me out.

In times like these, I feel grateful for being born a male.

I should check into that cup but I stick to tampons and as of late pads. Most of you are too young to remember this (and I barely remember it myself)but tampons caused many women to get toxic shock syndrome and many women died. The product called Rely was pulled from the shelf but even to this day I know women who will avoid tampons.
Just quickly replying to say that this moldy tampon thing has been cracking me up. I have had my Diva Cup (reusable menstrual cup made out of silicone) for 4 years now and I LOOOOOOOOOOOOVE it. It has revolutionized my whole period. I can't imagine ever going back to tampons, and I thought I adored OB products, but for me they've got nothing on menstrual cups. Plus it's so freaking cheap! You buy it once (I got mine on sale for like 17 bucks, plus maybe 5 bucks shipping) and you can use it for the rest of your natural life. I've been dancing for one year and my Diva Cup has saved my ass so many times. I can't imagine cutting the string of a tampon all the time, what a hassle! Can you tell I'm evangelical about this product? It's definitely not for everyone (your anatomy might make it uncomfortable, and abuse/rape survivors might find it triggering - it wasn't for me but it is for some people) but if it's right for you it can change your life.

I hate tampons or anything else shoved up my twat that isn't my mans cock. There's just something up w/my nerve endings in there ever since I gave birth to my daughter. So I stick to pads. My period only lasts 3 days if that anyways.

I love it! Others are all about the sea sponge. It's the greatest thing ever! Way cheaper then tampons and way cleaner.
I didn't want to get the cup because I didn't think plastic would fit very well and some people mentioned they couldn't get them to fit properly. Since sponges are so comfortable and cheap, I never bothered with the cup.
