You can work for whomever you want on the internet, and you are not actually the sites employee, you are a private, independent contractor, self employed, not employed by the site.
Imagine if only american lady's would be allowed to work on an USA based cam site, they would have it golden, with no competition.
I'm Canadian, and work on an American-based site. So, yes![]()

Yes this is the case ... right now at least. However, several attempts have already been made in Washington DC to enact 'anti-piracy' laws which could affect the future ability of US streaming video servers to conduct cross-border paid video streams. If and when enacted, these 'anti-piracy' laws could restrict the future ability of non US-based camgirls to work through US based webcam hosts, by more directly restricting the ability of non-US based camgirls to access money from 'paying' US webcam customers ( by the blocking of cross-border credit card transactions ). The reverse could also be true, with US based camgirls no longer being able to access money from 'paying' European webcam customers.
Search for SOPA , PIPA etc.
It would appear that after the last attempt at passing these new laws failed last January, that further efforts have been 'shelved'. Since the root of this new legislation appears to be US mainstream movie, US recording industry, and US labor union driven, there is a big potential political element involved.

So would i be paying tax to US?Do you have to do your own tax or is it just taken from your paycheck?Sorry im totally clueless!!!

As a totally independent worker you are not "employed" by any of the sites. You have to keep track of your earnings, your outgoings, register for self assessed tax in your country, and complete a tax return at the end of the year. You pay tax to YOUR country, not the sites. All the sites report your earnings as part of THEIR earnings, so you must register for and pay tax one way or another otherwise you may find yourself in trouble down the line.

I think only the US reports individual earnings, AW etc would report the performers earnings as one lump sum, same with DP, we dont report to anyone who we pay monies to. SM wouldnt report individual earnings to the UK gov.
Not sure if you meant SM report the performers earning individually.
Also DP members dont have their earnings reported to the US (even if the performer is in the US), no 1099's are created or sent out for them.
You pay tax in the country you are living in, regardless of which site it was earnt on.

I meant that sites have a record of who you are and your earnings, so there is a direct line from the performer to the tax man via the site, should anyone look into it.

Ah okies, quite a rarity but could definitely happen if the tax man was out to get you.

So,I would pay tax in mexico?or UK?
You know Fridays that only US based company's report, so yeah, daily pay it not us based, of course, they should pay taxes, but they might get lucky if they don't get caught by not paying.
I would pay my taxes in the country that is my residence.

You pay taxes in the country where you are resident, so if you are living in Mexico, you pay taxes in Mexico.
I take cash, debit or credit. I just don't take shit.

I hope PJ replies....
I am STILL confused...
Im in the US and im supposed to pay taxes...
so If I sign up with Daily pay I wont pay taxes? what?

You ALWAYS pay taxes!!
The difference is just in how SM (or any other cam company) reports them. In the US, the company will send you a 1099 which (I'm sure Melonie can correct me if I am wrong, as I have never actually gotten this!) basically is a piece of paper that confirms your earnings for the year, taxes that you have paid on those earnings (which for us, would be a 0) and the company that you have earned them from. You attach this to your taxes when you file.
If you do not live in the US, or if you are paid by DP, you do not get one of these forms. You are responsible for keeping an accurate record of your earnings for the tax year and reporting them as such.
That is the ONLY difference. You are still paying taxes in exactly the same way, you just don't get sent a piece of paper.
I take cash, debit or credit. I just don't take shit.

I know how a 1099 looks like... lol... but but but...
I want PJ to reply.... because........
if SM does not send the IRS a copy of your earned income then.. technically , IRS does not know about it.
Im not asking if SM is sending the model a 1099, but if SM is sending the IRS a copy of your 1099.
that is the question...
where is princessjenny

From my understanding if they send a copy then you get one too, there no point for them reporting if they don't let you know about it, here's the key word "copy"
Half my income was from overseas, and i still reported everything, for my own good: i need to show pretty high earnings in order to get great loans for my business, so yeah, everyone with their own interests.

Yes it is technically true that the IRS will not be directly informed by DP that American camgirl ABC has earned X thousand dollars. However, thanks to automatic reporting to the IRS by college bursars' offices, state property and motor vehicle agencies, US banks, money order sellers etc. the IRS will be informed that American camgirl ABC has spent Y thousand dollars. Combined with an IRS database which has calculated typical costs of living for every zip code area, the IRS will also know that American camgirl ABC spent another Z thousand dollars on basic costs of living. Thus when IRS computers combine Y and Z, go looking for a tax return from camgirl ABC, and find the amount of reported income to be too small to explain how spending Y and Z were possible in the first place, odds are than an IRS auditor will come looking for X !!!if DP = IRS doesn't know about it... I'm totally getting DP and opening a swiss bank account with a debit card... Shit 5% is way better than 30+
As to opening a Swiss bank account, that's NOT happening ! Thanks to IRS pressure, UBS and other foreign banks which have ANY branches / operations within the USA are now required to report financial details on accounts held in the names of all US Citizens. Due to the extra costs of complying with these new IRS reporting requirements, Swiss banks are now closing / turning away US accounts of less than $1 million ( which caused my own Swiss bank account to be forcibly closed ) ! Yes there are still a few offshore banks which do NOT have US operations that will allow new accounts by US citizens without incredibly high minimum balances. But then there are new problems as to how to 'access' that money from inside US borders ( i.e. foreign vacation bringing back < $10k at a time in your purse - which still gets reported to the IRS via US Customs ! ).
