    Default Computer malfunction question

So 16 days ago I bought a Toshiba laptop. It had good specs, capable to do everything I needed it to do with camming and everything else. This morning it took a nose dive! I had a 1 year warranty with it, but was actually able to take it back and get my money back. Which I'm thankful for since I can't afford to send my computer to who knows where, and not know when I'd get it back. I have a business to run here!

Okay....so to the question. All last night and before everything happened this morning I was only on C4S. I was uploading clips the entire night and continued on into this morning. I just want to make sure that, that was not what caused my computer to malfunction. I get that it was most likely a hardware problem, but I guess I'm just scared to go uploading clips and have the same thing happen on my new laptop! If anyone has any insight that would be great. Thank you.

Normally no pc gets broke, just from uploading files, certainly not a new one. Older ones could probably get overheated. With a new laptop, unless you block the ventilation space in any way, this should not happenl.

Could you more specific tell what happened ?

I had shut it down. I went to restart it and it gave me an error page saying it couldn't start windows successfully. It gave me the option to try restarting it normally, or to fix the problem. I tried fixing the problem and it went to a blank screen. It stayed that way for a few hours before I finally gave up and shut it down. I could restart it but it would just bring me to the error page, and kept saying it was unable to start windows.

Thank you for the reassurance. I was freaking out thinking OMG, I ruined my computer uploading clips. I'm not that worried about the malfunctions of the old computer as I did get a new one. I just want to make sure that it wasn't from me uploading clips all night long, cause I'm a little nervous to start uploading clips on my new laptop.

Ooh, that sounds like a hard disk failure. That usually what it means when windows won't load at all, from my understanding.

You should be good to upload vids on your new computer. Uploading videos isn't what did that. Faulty manufacturing or a hard shock (from dropping it, which is how I fucked up one of mine) is what brings that on.

That sounds indeed as a harddisk failure, if windows files, like drivers or libraries are not able to load, then windows will not be able to start up.

With previous versions of Windows you could start it from a startup disc, but nowadays most backups are on the HD too, so unreachable as well.

Ange, if you get a blue screen (the blank screen you described) on a Windows computer, this is a 'blue screen of death' or bsod. I've gotten them before and fixed the computer, so don't lose hope! Usually there is an accompanying error message with the screen, so if you can, try to get the 'error code' or STOP code. You can read about the different codes and what they might mean (and how to fix them) at this link http://www.geekstogo.com/forum/topic...th-stop-codes/, but I also suggest googling your specific code and seeing what has worked for other people. It worked for me once upon a time
