Tired not as new but new club

ive danced a total of 3 months in the past all in a non urban club. "oasis" "follies" in atl im working at Diamonds of Atlanta (think King of Diamonds) and I am not the best dancer by far I can talk my way to money not necesarrily dance my way to it. Ive been killing myself stretching and I havent been able to learn pole tricks. My question is to dancers in similiar situations what should i expect n a super urban club where pole tricks are everything and rappers are always in an out? I feel super intimidated about this job because I am sooo not a good dancer. I know i will pick up eventually but I think I'll look stupid initially.... give me your feelings and how you felt when you started working in an urban club, am i over reacting?

we are in the same boat girl... all i can say is fake it till you make it, alot of eye contact seems to get the guys at my club... i noticed girls are so busy flipping around they don't connect with the customers. practice practice practice ....i know you probably feel a little out of place; i literally was sitting in the owners office telling him i think i might not be cut out for this style of club but he assured me that different is good ...so what every chick in there dances like their in a BET Uncut video. You can be that one girl thats known for bringing the grown & sexy to everything.

Hey! I'm an ATL dancer as well - also a former Oasis girl, now at Pink Pony.

I'm big on the pole, because I take classes at a studio. If you didn't know already, Vertical Joe's in midtown is very closely associated with Diamonds of Atlanta. Before DoA opened, they used to send their girls over to VJs to train them up on pole tricks. I don't know why they don't do that anymore - might've been too big of an investment, considering their opening got pushed back and they had to recruit a whole new crop of dancers when they opened for real.

If your club really emphasizes the pole tricks, make the investment in yourself and start taking classes. There are a lot of girls who can learn on the fly and by watching other girls, but I'm not one of them. However, I'm probably one of the top 5 polers at Pink Pony because I DO make the effort to get good. Though, to be honest, Pink Pony isn't one of those clubs where pole tricks are really expected or encouraged; I just enjoy doing them for their own sake.
