    Default Suppliments,helpful or pointless!

    I have done some research on natural suppliments like pure coffee bean extract,l-carnitine,l-arginine,calcium pyruvate and forskolin to name afew. Has anyone tried and natural suppliments with any success. I took cla back in the day,and it worked pretty well but its too many pills a day for me,anyway. I am looking to add a suppliment to my unprocessd diet and cardio workouts. Please share any experience!

    I'd like to know too. My pharmacist told me forskolin is safe but I'd like to know if it actually works.

    Most supplements I had felt like bullshit - I can't tell the difference. However one that really did help, IME, was bromelain. It helped with heartburns and quicker recovery after workout. Another is whey and gelatin. IME, food sources are better.

    I'm not sure what kinds of supplements you're looking for, but I take alpha-lipoic acid, DMAE, and Hyalauronic acid for my skin. I can tell the difference when I'm taking them, and my skin looks less dry when I am.

    Alpha-lipoic acid is a great antioxidant,too.

    It says to take 3 a day, but I usually take 1. I'm also taking the liver/kidney drops, (it's a tincture, you add it to water)
    The capsules above contain mushrooms,(3 kinds) cranberry juice powder, wheatgrass etc.

    Totally depends on the supplement. I've used mineral and vitamin supplements to save myself from deficiencies (iron-deficiency anemia as well as multiple zinc deficiencies, b-complex, A, D). I've taken supplements for sleep that definitely make a difference for me (melatonin, Luna, 5-HTP). I take some things that probably do make a difference - they have the scientific studies to back them up - but work slowly, so you have no way of verifying their efficacy (probiotics, n-acetyl cysteine, pharmaceutical-grade fish oil, magnesium citrate in water). And I've taken other supplements that seem to either not work or even cause trouble (CLA - gives me acne).

    Biotin for hair, skin, and nails. That stuff makes mine grow like a weed with significantly more thickness and volume. My nails were like iron on that stuff!

    I take vit B complex and multivitamins, both of them have a biotin and other goodies. I do see the different,im less tired nowdays, but my nails did not get any better, hair also same slow grower as before.If your gut is compromised, some vit may not get absorbed.
    I also take raw liver! I tried liver before period it did not go too well. So when my period started i begun taking it again, and my period this time was shorter, i was not anemic this time, now i take it for over 2 weeks and i exersise everyday for 2 hours and i have still energy to work and do home stuff.
    Raw liver has all vit already easy to digest like vit A as retinol, not carotenoid like in carrots. Vit D, lets see if it will help me with SAD(if day is cloudy im not even able to wake up)also liver has that anti fatigue benefit. I think ani fatigue really works on me. And before taking i had my slow down time everyday by 2 pm.
    I take raw grass fed bison liver, which i buy from a farmer.

    I take lysine every day to prevent cold sores. It really witless and if I stop taking it for a week cuz I ran out I'll get one.

    Some guy I met at the club told me he made 10 grand a day reselling supplements online and knocking up the prices. Ones that he knew had been promoted heavily such as fish oil. I don't know if he was serious or not, but I think a lot are kind of fads and a good diet and exercise are key. I've taken lot of supplements in the past. Biotin did make my hair grow a little, but it also gave me terrible acne. Other than that I would say you probably don't need to take too many unless your doctor recommends it because you have a deficiency or something.

    I noticed a huge difference just by eating a fresh grapefruit, @ least 3 X's a week, w/a cup of coffee. Very cleansing! I was beyond stumped/upset w/having IBS..I went up like 3 -4 pant sizes (not weight gain just my tum). I been buying jeasn/pants/skirts left & right. Well, I was donating stuff, I held a couple prs bk cause I couldn't bear to part w/'em..last night, I tried on & FIT IN my smaller sizes..EXSTACY!!! Not only for 'shrinking' but I LOVED those pants..you know how hard it is to find something you really like to replace something you had.
    Also, plain yogurt a couple times a week. Anyway, yeast in your gut is responsible for a lot, from acne to fungus & even joint pain.
    I'm now going to an accupuncturist, I showed her what I'm taking, she wrote everything down & is going to look up the ingredients, so we'll see.

    Everyday I take a multi vitamin, vitamin C 400mg and vitamin D 5000mg. Especially in the winter when we don't get enough sun, we especially need vitamin D. Also 12 mg of astaxanthin which is like a fish oil that helps with everything like eye health, energy etc.) I also put a spoonful of turmeric every day in my smoothie. I heard it's an anti inflammatory and acts like an anti depressant.

    i just want to add about turmeric.
    When you take turmeric in powder you expirience only 1% of curcumin.
    You have to simmer turmeric with milk(cow,coconut,almond) or water with added fat(coconut, ghee) and black pepper for 20 mins.

    I always add a few pepper corns with it as well. I also make golden milk with the turmeric which I love. Found the recipe on line.

    I take a multi, an D, K & Calcium supplement, glycosamine and right now, some vit. C.

    I had a test earlier this year for Vit. D difficiency and I was fine. So the Vit. D works. Biotin works wonders for my hair, need to get more. I believe glycosamine has kept me out of the hospital. I've been an energetic stage dancer, snow boarder (who used to do tricks) and competition level poler for years. Therefore, lots of injuries!. But I've never broken anything or was reliant on a PT. I've been taking glycosamine for over 10 years. Protein supplements also seem to make a difference in workout recovery. Probiotics truly help with getting your digestive system on track.

    I used to take B6 for bloating and Evening Primrose for cramps, moodiness and general cycle stuff. TBH, not sure if either really worked.

    Others that I have taken: fish oil, vit B complex, B 12, Vit A,....don't really seem to make a huge difference.
