    Default Mandatory Drink Hustling

I've got a trial shift tomorrow night at club that makes dancers ask customers to buy drinks for them every 15 minutes. I think it's a total bullshit rule, but if I'm gonna work there I'm gonna have to stick to it. Now most of the time I wouldn't spend 15 mins with a guy who wasn't spending on me anyway, but there's still going to be times I have to ask I'm sure. So has anyone got any ideas for how to ask in a polite, non-forceful manner so not to piss off the customer and make him lose interest in me?

    I get commission on drinks.

Most guys at my club offer drinks anyway, I don't even have to hint. But in case they don't, I keep my empty glass, or before I approach I grab an empty from the bar or dressing room and put a straw in it, and give it a little swirl while we're talking. Something subconscious makes them drink up faster, and if they haven't already offered a drink they usually will when they get another for themselves/the group. It works about 80% of the time. Then I get my dances and dump my drink in the dressing room... and onto the next.

If that doesn't work I just go for a more straightforward approach. Giggle, hand on his leg, "So, are you going to buy me a drink?". A wink sometimes helps. Just act like it's the standard 'girl flirting in bar' situation.

Sometimes, post dance is a good time to make your move as well. Thirsty work, all that bollocks.

Is this a club where drinks are really the only option to make money? I worked at a club where we had to hustle and private dances weren't that common. In fact we couldn't even talk to the men unless they were paying. If this is the case I explained it to the men. Told them I enjoyed chatting with them bt I couldn't unless they were buying drinks. I don't drink on the job so I had the bartender mix me a cranberry drink that looked alcoholic. I also worked clubs where hustling drinks happened but not the majority of the money so the owner didn't care about hustling.

We don't make any money on drinks, it's just a mandatory part of what the club expects from us.

Oh then that just sucks. I have worked clubs where it was an option (where we paid and did private dances)and worked clubs where we got a commission but never ones where we didn't get a commission and still have to hustle. In that case I'd rather be pushing dances.

Is this club VENUS???Anyway any club that demands you to order drinks without giving you and comission can fuck off.Its bad enough that you are paying stupid high house fees plus comission on dances etc.

i worked there back in 2007 so things might have changed.I found that there was definetly money there but it was hard to come buy and management was awful. They charge 80 quid PLUS 20%.They have 3 areas the floor which is only table dances and there so strict you cant even rest your foot on a chair. Then there is VIP area which is open and you can do one way contact dances. They also have Extra VIP booths which have curtains.I was told by manager that if you want you can close the curtains and the you can do 'whatever you want' its also the only place where you can take cash tips....so basically it was a brothel but a very expensive one.You could make clean money but of course like any club in london you have to compete with a million other girls...I got sacked from there because i got drunk and called one of the managers a wanker...oops!!!

Yeah, from what I was told today it sounds super strict. They did say it was non-contact in VIP too though so the brothel part might have changed.

Super lame that you have to hustle drinks but don't see anything from it. I don't have any lines to offer, but just realize that the customers who come into the club are probably used to the constant drink hustle, so don't feel bad or awkward about asking!

Also - do you have to have a customer buy you a drink every 15 minutes or just ask for one? Like, you can't FORCE a customer to buy you a drink (especially when there's nothing in it for you), so I'm just curious as to how they check up to make sure you're doing it. Once you know that, you can figure out how to get around the stupid rule and turn that drink money into dance money.

I worked at a juice bar (no alcohol) where we had to hustle drinks. We were supposed to sell 10 drinks/night and each drink cost the customer $10. I hated it with a passion. If we failed to sell all 10 drinks the management would dock $5/drink from the dancer. Only one time did I sell all 10 drinks. The worst part was I had a number of guys that would give me an ultimatum of "either a dance or a drink". Initially I always said dance since I made more off those, but one of the other dancers ratted me out to the management and they threatened to fire me if I turned down drinks.

Luckily I quit that place and worked at a strip club with a bar. The great thing about it is it's actually illegal to "hustle for drinks" since it's alcohol. Of course, if I wanted a guy to buy me a drink there are ways of heavily hinting at it.

Basically, I feel really bad for anyone who is forced to sell drinks. It's a waste of the dancer's time and money out of their pocket and straight to the management.
