Default is 29 too old to begin stripping (dancing) ?

First of all, thank you ladies in advance for taking the time to read my post and for your professional advise. The truth is I have been thinking of auditioning for two years now. What stops me? Well... I am worred about my age. I am worried that when I call and ask for an audition theyll ask for my age and as soon as I say 29 they'll tell me theyre not hiring. :/ I'm 5'6", 120 pounds, toned and semi skilled at the beginner/near intermediate pole tricks. I have long black hair, pale to medium complexion, and green eyes. I love feeling sexy, being naked and dancing. I would love to hear what you ladies think. Youve been there and are there. Will I be teased or scoffed at or turned down and rejected due to my age? Or do I need to get over this fear and give this a shot?
-again, thank u for your honesty.
    XOXO,

29 is on the upper end of average age. You'll be fine. I retired at 28 and was in no way shape or form the oldest girl at the club I was working at.

    ^This.

Not to mention, you've got way more life experience to draw on than younger girl, and many older customers (read: those with $$$) prefer someone they can have a conversation with and relate to, so you've got an advantage there!

Age is just a number anyway... If you can rock it, so be it.

The main reason why a club would ask your age over the phone is to check if you're over 21. You're 29, not 89. You'll be fine.

There was just recently a poster several years older than you... and the posters here were more than encouraging in her case.
I'd assume that means it's likely no one here will think you too old, so you may as well head on down to the clubs and see what they think.

As long as you look good and are in shape age doesn't matter.

    I did it

I was exactly 29 at my first audition, which was at Barely Legal. The DJ announced me "Here's our brand new dancer, she just turned 18..." or something like that. In my head I'm thinking, "yeah, 11 years ago" haha. Anyway, my point is that it didn't matter, I was hired, I made money, everything was fine. Besides, not every man is looking for an 18 or 21 year old. Some men prefer women a little older, or find it hard to relate to a woman just barely out of her teens.

I started at 28. You can do this if you want to and look good.

Absolutely not, I went back to dancing at 29 years old after approx 10 year break. I do look younger.(well on my good days..lol) I had the same concerns beforehand, but I made more money than I did years ago. Mainly because I am smarter about reading customers and not drinking too much. Also, I think sex appeal often comes more naturally at this stage in our life. I do feel that it takes a bigger toll on me if I work a very long night. Go for it! Keep us posted

I'm 30! I don't think any club is going to reject you on your age. Plenty of women in there late 20's still look 22 while some look 39. So it can go both ways. Some clubs want to have some dancers that have a little bit of age on them to cater to the clients who prefer older women.

Although I am 23, I have worked with many 30 to even 40 year old women who were just amazing, they taught me so much! with your hair done and make up and the lights there you will be awesome, besides not everyone is looking for 18 year olds! Soooo many times ive seen the older girls kill it because they just know how to work it, they know how to get what they want from men

Wow!!!! I have to say, you all have blessed the socks off of me! You all are so genuine and so straight forward and so thoughtful and sweet! I really thank you with all my heart for taking your time to answer my question! -Forgive me for sounding completely clueless but... what is considered a "dive"? Kisca had made reference to a "Dive" and I literally scratched my head wondering 'what on eart is that?!' lol

I'd classify a "dive" as a lower-end club, not necessarily a bad one. Just like a dive bar -- no bells and whistles, no VIP rooms, might be a little looser with their hiring standards, a little slower, in an out-of-the-way area, etc. I work in a total dive and I love it.

Edit: And I'm older than you. You'll be fine at 29.

I'd suggest check out the place(s) you want to work at, feel where you're most comfortable and start from there. Good luck

I started last year when I was 29. I am making killer money. Go for it! I can't wait to hear how it goes for you :-)

And P.S. a dive doesn't necessarily mean less money...it just has a different feel to it. I have worked at a few different clubs and sometimes the dives are complete goldmines!

I started at 28 and will be 32 next month and I make good money. I also have the same look but blue eyes! Being a tad older can be a bonus. Our top earner is 46! Get your hot ass in there and get your money.

I definitely don't think 29 is too old to strip, but I do think it may be more difficult starting at 29 compared with starting younger. By 29, most dancers have been stripping a number of years and have their sales skills and hustle perfected. Starting young I think you can get away with having less sales skills because you can often sell a lot of dances of your looks alone (limited hustle). Obviously it depends what you look like and the club you're working at though.

Also, a lot of older men prefer girls that are older than 18/19/20 and would rather a woman they can better relate to and converse with. Often it's these men that have the most money as well.

There's a lot to think about but if you look after yourself and are willing to make an effort and work hard I'm sure you can do very well starting at 29. Good luck

Dives are smaller clubs. Some are complete shitholes where they hire anything with a pussyhole that can contribute another housefee. They are usually smaller and low key, but in terms of drama, in my personal experience the smaller the club, the bigger the drama. -_- Everyone knows everyone's business. If you do go that route, avoid the DR, be polite and friendly but don't get involved.
