    Default Junior Seau RIP

Junior was found today with a gunshot to the chest and couldn't be revived. They are suggesting suicide. He was a great seasoned vet of football for 20 frickin' years. Very sad. He left a girlfriend, ex-wife and kids. They must be inconsolable. He just retired 2 years ago and now he's gone. Pretty crazy.

Sounds fishy to me, if I was going to shoot myself, it wouldn't be in the chest. Too many survive those types of wounds.
Sorry I missed church. I was too busy practicing witchcraft and becoming a lesbian.

Dave Duerson, formerly of the Bears did the same thing..... He wanted them to study his brian..... I suspect Seau wanted the same thing done..... In the last 12 months or so a few hockey players have taken their own lives..... We know very little about brain injuries.

There's been studies showing a connection between concussions and mental issues, including depression and suicide. Like mikef said he probably did it because he wanted to leave his brain intact.

IMO the helmets do as much harm as good. They might protect the skull against the fractures that were more common in the leather helmet days but those things are HARD when used offensively. You are basically giving them a deadly weapon to protect themselves, they should be just a padded on the outside as they are inside.

yeah, I agree. I think it had to do with wanting his brain to be studied. Poor guy.

On the other hand, it sucks that his restaurant reviews have been going down the past few years-- don't get me wrong-- has nothing to do with his death. I just think it's sad because he's HUGE in San Diego, and his restaurant kinda went down the crapper quality-wise. I know one closed, not sure if he had other locations.

But wow-- he had a twenty year career with three separate teams. Poor guy. Poor family. I'll be interested to see if his brain is studied. I wish he'd left a note, if only so there's no question of foul play via someone else.

The problem is with the way the game is played people are launching themselves in the air, and getting slammed to the ground. Everyone is too big. That's why the hard helmet is necessary. The way the game is played would have to be changed, not just the gear.

I agree with all of the above. I liked football too until I started watching Real Sports and saw all these tragic stories about guys with broken bodies and flat broke 5-10 years later. Even a billion isn't worth it if you lose you mind/body.

Fiendish, who knows, the failure of his businesses probably made his depression way worse. Terrible stuff all the way around.
