Default How much to markup wholesale costumes?

Not sure if I have this in the right forum. A fav of mine and I are going into business doing logo-branded thongs, gowns, etc. We can get em for $2 (for garters), $5 (for thongs), $16 (for sets). How much should we mark em up?

The market is rather low end. Most girls make $200-1100 on a "medium to good" night. Yes, there are girls who walk out with just over tip out 2 to 3 days a week. Many (like my partner) do better, but we need to balance markup with being able to move product.

    Thoughts?

Observe your client base (girls at your club) and analyze their spending habits. Are they shopoholics? Do they buy a shitload off the house mom (if you have one) when they're drunk? You can ask them where they shop. The answers you get will influence how much you can mark your items. If girls are more savvy, and you're selling common items, you'd probably have to sell them cheaper than what they can get them for online or at the stores. If your items are unlike anything else out there, you can mark em up high. If girls' have a good night, and they see something absolutely cute and unique, THEY WILL PAY! (Especially when they're drunk lol!)

I'd say make at least a 50% profit and depending on how sales go, you can mark up the price and offer deals for multiple items purchased.
So for example, since you get garters for $2, you can sell them for $5 each or two $9, as is. You can customize pieces and charge more. You'll make more money this way and you'll build your reputation as a logo. So one custom garter for $15, or 2 for $25.

I'd mark my prices high but throw in deals. For example, for every $50 spent, throw in a free item. For every $100 spent, two free items or one "bigger/more expensive" item.

You can also make punch cards like what some restaurants and stores do. There's many ways to structure the punch cards. For example, the clothing store Buckle punches every $10 spent until they reach $200, then they give you $10 off your next purchase.

Punch cards work well with items that are bought repeatedly, like false lashes. EX: Buy 6, the 7th pair is free.

    Good luck!

I would say easily double that, and maybe 2.5x your base prices which would make it $5/12ish/40.

Then occasionally I would tack on extra if they look extra fancy. This way, if you have to clearance them out at 2x, or only add half, you're still making a slight profit.

i'd say double what you paid for it. if you bought the dress wholesale for $20, sell it for $40. maybe 2.5x for fancy, like FG said.

I study this and typically it's double or triple the wholesale price, depending on if you have extra expenses. I'd say get as much out of it as you can. Here, a typical price for garters is 5, thongs 10 to 12 and I'd sell a set for at least 30-35. You have to be realistic though. If it's fancier and super hot, charge more than others do. if it's lower quality or they know they can get the same thing around the corner, you obviously should price it more competitively.

I have my own business so I can buy stripper outfits at wholesale prices. I have noticed that retailers generally sell the same outfits with a 50% markup.

I typically pay $40-50 dollars for outfits that sell for
    $90-112 dollars
