Default Amazon Wishlist Address Saftey Problem

Ok I know I learned a lesson the hard way. Amazon is really strict and wont give out your address and such on a wishlist item BUT the outside vendors will. Most of the toys and lingerie are not fufilled and shipped by Amazon. A guy managed to get my address by calling the company who did fill it and giving them the confirmation number. He has sent me mail directly. Nothing threatening so nothing I can do about it but it is really scary. To test this I bought an item off my list and called the company that sells through Amazon. I said I needed shipping info and gave the confirmation number. The re-ply "Oh that item sent to XXX Street in XXX in Texas will be there on May 8" WOW! Since then I have gotten a UPS box (I picked one an hour away from home). They know my alias and all packages come there under my cam name. I just wanted to make sure you ladies knew your address is NOT safe with Amazon. The UPS box is a tax write off and so worth it I think.

    Anyone else deal with this?

I haven't personally had this happen. But I've heard of girls who have. Lots of guys ask for you to put 3rd party items on your wishlist just so they can call and ask for your address. Same way they ask for Paypal to find your real info.

The safest way of getting gifts is creating a wishlist but do not link an address to it at all. And make them send you e-giftcards instead. I use this and it has worked out for me just fine.

Yes, this has been discussed a few times in the forum. It also in Amazon's wishlist FAQs about using 3rd party vendors.

I haven't had this happen to me.

Normally when I do something on Amazon wishlist wise, I make sure that I do things just from Amazon so I can avoid the vendor issues. I knew that was a possibility so I made sure that anything I asked for, I didn't have to deal with that in the future.

Also, I have a physical address and a PO Box that I use for safety. I totally love the PO Box affect and pay on $50 a year for it.

You always have to research what you are buying, before you add it to that wishlist.

Just to say, that even AMAZON products can have this issue. If the buyer opts for the faster sending options, they can get tracking info and fed ex info that gives your full address. It happened to me!

Same here. I do not even list a mailing address.

If they can't send an email gift card then too bad. Not worth compromising my safety.

How does this work exactly? I mean can I give my husband's info for my whishlist? I don't wanna have my real name on the packages, but even if I rent a box, I cannot use my cam name, firstly because I don't think they allow it, secondly because those boxes are like the size of a happy meal box, only letters fit in, bigger stuff need to fetched by showing the ID, and obviously I don't have an ID with my cam name..

So can I create a whislist for like Camgirl Glasses Whislist, and have the shipping info like this:

    Mr Husband
    city
    PO 942351
    country?

My husband's name is very common and he is not present anywhere online at all, I think that would be safe to use.

I have an Amazon account in my cam name and that's where my wishlist is. I only add items sold by Amazon but I check my list daily as some items change and are no longer sold by Amazon but remain on my list...I delete these. You have to check the item via your wishlist as sometimes that's the only way the true vendor shows.

I'd like to add that even if you only add items sold by Amazon themselves.... a customer can add the item... add another item of his choice, meaning it doesnt even need to be on your wishlist, and ship it to your wishlist address with the other items, or remove your actually wanted item and just send the other item. Therefore he can purchase any 3rd party item and send it to you without it even being on your wishlist. I do not know exactly how they do this, but I did have 1 guy do it to me. He said he had me a suprise gift. When it got to my address it was something I had never put on my wishlist, I said they sent the wrong item but thanks and he told me, "no i simply edited the items beforing checking out"... so there you go.. you are never safe.

Can you set up a PO Box address like you can in the UK? Then your address would not be revealed

    1. Most PO Boxes through UPS or Mailboxes also collect packages for you at no extra charge. So no worries about the teeny tiny size of the box! Just make sure that you will not be charged extra for this service (I'm not)
    2. You CAN use your cam name for a PO box. There are two ways to do it - either you set up a business PO Box and list your cam name as your business name (which is usually more expensive) or you open a personal box. Most personal PO Boxes can have 1-3 names on them (mine allows two) and you just need ID for one of the names to pick up anything for the PO Box. So use your personal ID to set up the box, add your cam name as a second person, then use your own ID to pick up packages under your cam name.

    Simple!!

And no, I wouldn't use my SO's name AT ALL. Common or not, if someone has done some snooping, and thinks that they know who you "really" are, they can use this name as confirmation, or as another way to snoop altogether. If someone finds his name on the wishlist, then they search fb, twitter, google etc for info. Then they can find his wife's name. Then they can find you. SUPER unsafe .

I've never dealt with this, but this is the reason I refuse to do the Amazon wishlist thing. That plus the fact that some guys will buy wishlist items INSTEAD OF giving you money on the cam site...and that would not be cool with me (Money is what pays my bills and other expenses).

I just wanted to threadjack slightly and bring this one up.

No, you cannot live off wishlist items. Yes, you need "actual" money to pay your bills. But wishlist items make at least ONE of those bills smaller at the end of the day - your tax bill!!!!!

Monetary gifts you can only write off to a certain extent, over around 5K (depending on where you are) you have to declare and pay taxes on them. But actual, physical gifts? Tax free goodness. SO for some things, I actually would MUCH rather have someone else buy them for me, instead of sending me the money, because if they send me money, and I buy it, I also end up paying tax on that money.

SO I just fill my wishlist with stuff that I would actually buy anyway. Stuff that I am planning to buy, but that is not urgent. If your wishlist is full of random crap that you would never buy, well, it saves you nothing. But if you end up bringing in enough money to pay your bills, buy food, and go out and have a social life, but then have EVERYTHING ELSE bought for you, you will save yourself a bunch of money when it comes to tax time.

I'm hoping this makes sense, but just in case, here is a little (made up) example.

Lets say that Cammie the Cam Girl needs a grand a month to pay her rent and bills, and wants another grand for food and a social life. Then, she wants a third grand to buy clothing, furniture for the house, beauty products, jewelry, treats and toys for her dog, and electronics. She then spends another few hundred on sex toys, outfits and stuff for cam that she can write off on her taxes. She therefore earns 3K a month that is taxable income, and pays (lets say) 25% of that to taxes. So Cammie pays $750 per month to tax.

Now, Smartie the Cam Girl has the same rent, bills, and social/food expenses. However, she saves a grand a month in a tax-free investment plan, and uses her wishlist to have fans buy all the clothes, house stuff, and electronics she wants. She DOES buy her own camming products, but that is because those are tax-deductible. So she earns 3K a month, but thanks to her wishlist, can put 1K into a tax-free investment, and so only pays tax on 2K. At 25% of that, Smartie the Cam Girl only pays $500 a month on taxes, AND is able to save money.

So at the end of the year, Cammie has paid $750 a month, and saved nothing.
Earning the same, and paying the same taxes, but using wishlists, Smartie has paid $500 a month in taxes, and saved $1000 a month in a tax-free investment.

Would you still rather have the money?

This is probably a weird question, but I don't use my wishlist for camming and no one has bought anything off my list in a long time, so I can't remember.

If someone buys something from your wishlist, what CUSTOMER info shows up? I mean, if I buy something off of someone else's wishlist, can they see my name, address, etc? Or can I just put a note or fake name in there?

    Easiest thing to do is:

Buy a gift card and apply the balance to your account.

Set up a fake name and address to use as the 'invoice address' for the gift.

Use the gift card balance to buy the gift and use the fake invoice address.

    Voila!

OMG I would move! I just do what was suggested here and use e-gift cards. Another plus is that you can redeem those right away, so they can't really just take it back as easily as they could for an actual item they bought you. If they really want you to have something in particular, they can just give you the appropriate amount for the item in gift cards. I would never put actual items on my Wishlist.

I was thinking about getting a P.O. box but with all the horror stories I'm even second guessing that. I know its suppose to be confidential but if these crazies wanted your address bad enough they could probably find a way to get it from the post office. Littlebee posted the above in the P.O. box thread. It looks like a good option but its way more expensive then a P.O. box. You have to pay for rental which is $30-$156 for 3mths to a year. Each time you request your packages its $2 for mail forward, $0.42-$ 2.87 for shipping, plus handling. The best options seems to just have your fans send you giftcards.

    This is what I did.
Go to a local po box (or google search for "mailbox rentals" in your area, because those addresses just look like suites, ie #426 3456 Fake Street, instead of PO Box 426, blahblah). Ask if you can use multiple names on one box. (Yes, you can.) Ask what the smallest box is. Make sure if you "happen to" receive packages that are larger than your box, they will be held behind the counter. I flat out told the manager I use a pseudonym for online purchases, and wanted to know if anyone would be able to inquire about the REAL name on the box. He said that information is only available via a court order.
    Perfecto.
Sign up with your real name, show real ID, add your cam name(s) as "receive mail addressed to".
On your Amazon wishlist, enter your cam name and new mailbox address as the wishlist recipient.
I get zillions of packages from my wishlist all the time, and I've never had a problem. An added bonus of using a mailbox rental place instead of a post office - they don't check ID once you rent the box. I go in every week and pick up all my packages. If you have the key, you can get your packages.

Yeah, the safest way is to get a UPS box. Not all of them are okay with aliases but you can talk to the owner and explain that you are in the entertainment business and would like to stay safe. UPS (at leas the one in my area) uses actual addresses for their boxes so even if they did try and stalk, the address would lead to nowhere. USPS doesn't always allow packages unless it comes through USPS. UPS will ship ANYTHING to your home address or you can go pick it up yourself. They accept packages from USPS, UPS, DHL, FedEx, the works. If you still don't feel safe, have the guys purchase amazon giftcards instead. That way, you can send yourself your own items and still be safe. I know personally I have furniture on my wishlist (I'm greedy) so the furniture has to come to my house, no exceptions. Be safe ladies, as the OP mentioned, 3rd party sellers will give out your info to anyone who has a confirmation number. You have to pay close attention to your items because you never know when amazon will sell out, etc. And don't be giving away FREE shows just because some asshole said he paid for something and it shows up. If you didn't get the item on your doorstep or P O Box, IT DIDN'T HAPPEN!

Default Re: Amazon Wishlist Address Saftey Problem

Did a little googling and came up with this site. Looks like they will scan your mail and recieve packages for you then you can have them forwarded to you for $2 (for an entire shipment, not per piece).

    http://travelingmailbox.com/

$15 a month is the cheapest package they offer
