Default Underwire Bras & Massage after BA

Hi, There seems to be a lot of conflicting advice online (for a change) about whether I should massage my implants (Textured, CoGel, Overs) which were done March 13th. I know I should follow my PS advice but he's in Thailand, I would like your opinions/experience and will decide what to do from there.

I also wanted to know how long I should wait before wearing underwire bras.

I'm recovering from my third BA now. Of course your doctor is the best source on what to do because each one has different methods. My current one is a different situation from yours, but my previous one was silicone smooth 550 ccs over the muscle. They were big for my frame and I had little natural breast tissue so the only thing holding them in place was the skin. My doctor actually had me in an underwire the whole time.

It hasn't been three months yet for you, which is the general time period in which the implants settle into their final position. Your breasts may go through some more changes, so I would not choose a bra that will push them up at this time, just support them. I would go with the original type of bra until the 3 month period is over just to be sure.

As far as massage, some doctors don't believe in it, some do. As you know implants over the muscle and textured are more susceptible to capsular contracture. Massage supposedly helps to prevent this from occuring. The doctor who did my overs prescribed his massage technique to be done twice a day. One of my breasts capsuled early on despite the massage. If your doctor gave you instructions for massage after a certain point in your recovery, it is best to do it.

If you didn't get adequate instructions from your doctor and you can't reach him, I would go to the justbreastimplants.com forum and ask your questions in the ask a plastic surgeon section. There are a lot of doctors on there and they're usually helpful.
