how often are you dyeing your hair?
Are you waiting a few days for scalp oil to build up before bleaching?
Are you deep conditioning or doing a protein treatment occasionally?

It could be psoriasis or eczema on your scalp, in fact I would bet money that's what it is.... You should go to a doctor for some topical ointment

Are you using or toner or just bleaching the fuck out of it to maintain that color? Toner will get any yellowing out of your hair resulting in needing way less bleach.
Platinum blond drove me crazy but I adored it. My hair is naturally brown so it's like BAM roots in two weeks.
I got the spray that lightens hair in the sun so I wouldn't have to bleach the roots as often. I've heard just some citrus juice (lime/lemon) on your roots and some time in the sun will help hair lighten up as well. It would be good to help with spacing out your bleach sessions. I went from twice to just once a month.
also go to a salon supply store (such as sallys if you are able) and ask for special shampoos and conditioners that will be good for your blond but are also easy on the scalp.

Sounds like you're using off -bleach on the scalp. This would cause burns and other irritations.

My suggestion for you would be to consult a trichologist immediately to address your hair loss. They may recommend laser therapy to prevent and reverse the hair loss. Also in the session, you should try to identify a safe mechanism to color your hair platinum.

Before going to a doctor give this a try:

Oil/massage your scalp with coconut oil and tea tree essential oil. Take a quarter size (or more) amount of CO, add 1 or 2 drops of TTO and rub your palms together. Apply this to your scalp with your fingertips in sections. Concentrate on the irritated areas but oil your entire scalp. Coconut and tea tree oil are both antibacterial/antifungal and massaging your scalp will stimulate the hair follicles, which will help your hair grow. Try to do this about two hours before you shampoo. I leave this in overnight whenever my scalp is acting up. You should notice an improvement after three sessions.

Also, an apple cider vinegar rinse can help balance the ph levels of your scalp and help smooth out you hairs' cuticles, therefore making your hair look less damaged. Take 2 tablespoons of RAW apple cider vinegar (I use Braggs Raw ACV w/the "Mother") and add it to 8-12 oz. of water. Pour this over your whole head. DO NOT RINSE IT OUT. The smell will go away as your hair dries.

Stressing out will make anything worse. Mind over matter. Eat a healthy, balanced diet and drink plenty of alkaline water. A multivitamin and Omega 3 fish oil supplement will benefit you as well.

Aww, I'm so sorry that's happening to you honey. Hugs. I would also say go to a doctor or follow Ariah's advice. When I was about 10 years old I sometimes would nervously scratch my scalp and I got a few small scabs. My mom took me to a doctor and he gave me an ointment (which was a vaseline like texture) to put on the scabs and when I reached my to scratch my scalp I'd get that yucky stuff on my fingers and that got me to stop scratching and all the scabs healed.
I think I remember that you're bleaching your hair yourself with a Sallys product. When I was 20 years old I also bleached my own hair platiunum (because I loved Marilyn Monroe) with a Sallys product I think it was called QuickBlue. I bleached it for about 9 months then I met my bf and he wanted me to change my color. So I went to hairstylist to make it closer to my natural color. When I left her a back section of my hair (about 15% of all my hair) was broken a couple inches from the scalp and was really noticeable. It sucked. I will say that when I was bleaching my hair, I was really clueless about it. I'd was randomly guessing what volume developer to use and was not deep conditioning. My hair is naturally very fine and fragile though so it breaks more easily. Platinum blonde hair with a deep tan is really beautiful but you have to be careful because it can me very damaging. I worked with a beautiful girl with platinum hair and extensions and when she took out the extensions to have them redone her hair was only chin length form the damage from bleaching and extensions.
Sorry I don't have any better advice. I hope you can find a solution to keep your pretty blonde hair and have a healthy scalp.

Are you bleaching your own hair? If so, then maybe try a color specialist. I think it's worth the money. They are very careful when doing touch-ups not to overlap the color so that you have weak spots that might cause breakage.

I have waist length light blond hair and even going to a professional, I end up with a few raw places on my scalp after having it done. Those chemicals are so harsh! You could try Argon oil for your skin and hair strands. I love it. It helps calm and heal those spots on my scalp (maybe caused by dry skin?) You can buy it at Natural Supplements for around $15.00 and you only need a few drops per application.

This is how to stop that from happening. Before coloring, don't wash your hair for 3 days so that enough oil builds up on your scalp and gives you a bit of protection. Don't brush your hair too roughly during those 3 days and definitely don't brush it harshly right before... you don't want to scratch your scalp with anything sharp. If you're using a level 40 developer, switch to a 30. If you're using level 30 make sure that you don't overload the mix with too much of the bleach powder. Sometimes when it's too concentrated you get chemical burns. You may spend more time waiting for the bleach to get to the color you want but it's healthier for your hair and for your scalp in the long-run. When rinsing the bleach out, be careful not to pull on your hair or scratch your scalp with your fingernails. Use lukewarm water, not hot. Rinse gently but very thoroughly. Apply a great conditioner or conditioning treatment. Consider investing a scalp treatment of some sort to soothe your skin. Allow your hair to air dry (no irons, curlers, or blowdryers).

That should prevent those nasty little chemical burns. For the spotty situation you have going on now, I suggest neosporin, mederma, and any other healing/antimicrobial-types of products. There are various oils that supposedly help with growing hair back, but as long as you don't pick at the scabs the hair grows back on its own. Let the spots heal up, don't pick the scabs, treat them nightly with a cotton swab and some neosporin/mederma and take care to prevent them in the future.

I was gonna tell you that it sounds like psoriasis. I've had it for more than 10 years and your symptoms sound exactly like mine.

I definitely agree with AriahsPariah on coconut oil. It has ability to penetrate deeper into skin and it really is good for healing dry skin/scalp. Coconut oil is a household item in India where I grew up. So I have seen its benefit firsthand. I will also stand by tea tree oil.

Go to you hair stylist and ask her what color your hair will turn if you use a hi-lift in 12. I had to stop using bleach on my hair due to the damage and got it colored (roots) yesterday, she used a 12 and it got my hair light blonde. Then if you want it lighter use a toner.

If you want to continue using bleach try using the creme-oil bleach its safer on the scalp and not as harsh. Try waiting longer than 3 weeks to color your hair.

so i went to my dr and i don't have psoriasis or a scalp fungus. she said my scalp is severely dry and it is just flaking and cracking, then the cracks are bleeding and turning into scabs. she said i could just have dry skin and it might not be related to bleaching my hair, but would suggest a gentler coloring method or stop bleaching it to stop the discomfort. she also wrote me a prescription for a scalp oil but i'll just use my coconut oil.

i've been bleaching my hair at home with good results but i think its time for me to dish out $$ to just get it done professionally.. they will probably have higher quality/less harsh stuff to color my hair with. and i could get a scalp treatment while i'm there.

i have an appointment for 1:00 tomorrow at the salon, we will see how that goes and see what the stylists recommend as far as a plan of action... whether my scalp is at the point of no return and i should go back to dark brown or if its salvageable and i can stay blonde.

I used QB for years. It's the harshest bleach you can buy. My scalp scabbed and lost 70-80% of my hair. I quit useing it 4 years ago and my hair has now grown back.

How did your hair dresser's appointment go missdancy? Hmm, I wonder if my hairdresser uses hi lift 12 on my hair when she puts in medium blonde highlights? I never asked what she uses. I'm always looking for ways to prevent damaging my hair.
