Default Please help...I'm really new :(

I want to be an exotic dancer and I've been reading the stickies and I'm still confused on how to start. I live in SoCal and the girls are pretty and I just feel like I'm not going to be up to their level. I'm cute but not sexy. I've never even worn makeup or heels, I'm usually walking around with messy curls, converse, and a skateboard. I'm in excellent shape but no boobs. I'm 24 (25 next month) but I still look and feel like I'm stuck in high school and I hate it. I really want to do this not just for money (I want to pay for school, new car) but also for myself--I need to break out of my shell, be confident, and do something exciting, YOLO. I'm also African-american and I'm not sure if anyone would be interested in seeing me. I have a nice job, so I want this to be on the side. What's the first thing I should do if I want to start? What are some important things I should know? I'm really serious about this. Help?

If you have read all the stickies you wouldn't be asking about having small breasts or what you need to do to get started or what the important things you need to know are..... I think what you really want is one-to-one reassurance.
Why don't you post a photo and ask us if we think you should do it if that's the case? Why should it matter what we think.
Just do it, or dont do it.
You are not different from any other newbie that has come on this site asking for reassurance or from the veterans when we first started out- Why don;'t you ring the clubs in your area and ask them the questions- its them that will hire you not us.

Sounds like you have some serious self esteem issues, and this isn't an industry for the weak. The first thing you should do is work on yourself and your confidence issues. If you don't believe in the product (that being yourself in the club), no one else will either, and you'll have a hard time making money and getting through the shift. Focus on your positive attributes, do things that make you feel sexy and good about yourself, and honestly, sometimes you just have to fake it til you make it.

^ ShannaD, that was a much more gentle response in the same vein as my answer. I am just starting to get a little nuts reading the same question over and over from 'Curious Guests'.

I agree that working on your confidence first is the key. I got into this industry at a bad time in my life where I wasn't so mentally prepared (and I was only a cocktail waitress and danced a couple times). I ended up skipping out on it and it took over a year for me to come back. I have worked on my confidence and self esteem issues and I am back dancing again and really enjoying it. I feel less nervous then I did last time because I know people are there to see ME. If they dont like what they see, no one is going to make fun of you- and if they do, they are probably sleazebags that have a 2 inch pecker. Good luck.

You know what...I'm going to do it! I was really doubting myself and now I feel stupid that I did. I think I'm just really nervous
I'm going to start preparing now...and my first step is to go to Sephora for makeup tutorial and color matching (or whatever they call it). This is something that I've always wanted to do and I should just go for it. I'm just a pretty as the other girls and if not, makeup can do wonders

Thanks for the tough love and getting me back to my senses, I needed the push.
