Default Quick important questions to prep myself...

I just have a few questions...I'm ready to start dancing but I want to go to amateur nights for fun before I actually audition.
I want to know a few things:

Do I need to invest in everything now (like shoes, outfits, etc..)? Or can I just wing it with shoes?
Is it okay if I wear a wig...I don't want anyone to recognize me. I work a a public library, that would embarrassing if someone did...
If I do go to talk to the club in person for an audition, should I already come prepared to dance or just my regular street clothes (I want to look really nice when I audition so I don't want to be caught off guard)?
Do I bring my own music? I would really prefer this

I'm really ready to do this

I didn't invest in professional shoes until after my first night of work, just to make sure it was going to work out. Wear the highest, most comfortable heels you have for the first night. Trust me, you're going to want more comfy shoes right away. Get real stripper shoes as soon as possible.

It's best to bring a couple nice outfits for the audition. I'd bring a nice bra and panty set, a bikini set, and a short dress also... if you can. Some clubs wear mostly bikinis, some are lingerie, and clubs (like wear I work now) require some kind of one-piece outfit (mostly dresses). Just look around and see what all the dancers are wearing, and try to fit in. Go buy new stuff if you need to. Don't wear anything that looks worn out. I'm not sure what the rules are in so-cal, but when I danced in SF there was a "two finger" rule for the thongs, meaning the thickness of the thong had to be no less than two fingers width all the way through the crotch (to totally cover everything up). You might want to have something like that.

The first club wear I worked was a total dive, and they allowed dancers to bring their own iPods and cd's for the dj. Higher-end clubs don't allow this. Don't freak out, the dj's generally ask girls what their favorite genre of music of music is and what kind of songs they like, and they'll try to play it for you. They want the biggest tip possible from you at the end of the night, while still staying within the boundaries the manager has set for them. Just go with the flow. It's been my experience that once you've been at the club for a while you'll have more say in your music. And who knows, you'll probably start to evolve as a dancer quite quickly. I started off dancing to heavy rock music, transitioned to hip hop, then r&b, then electronic remixes of hip hop songs, then dubstep... Now I dance to a little bit of every genre as long as it's sexxxy! and it's made me a better dancer

Um, wear some nice street clothes to the club... have your hair and makeup ready to go... bring your dance outfits and shoes and everything (there are tons of threads on this) in a bag, and if they have time to audition you that night (which is most likely) they'll have you change in the dressing room and then you'll do it. I think that's what you were asking? Not sure.

As for wearing a wig, I guess that depends on off your wig looks hot or not. There are some girls who can really pull it off, but I've seen girls with wigs that look so excruciatingly fake that I was actually embarrassed for them. Remember that you want to look awesome, so make sure the color is right for your skin tone and the wig is in good shape. And remember that you want to fit in pretty well at first, so you probably don't want to start off wearing some crazy neon colored wig right out of the gate. Unless that's what makes you feel the sexiest, then go for it.
