    Default Embarassingly clueless hair question

Ok so... you know when you straighten your hair in your house and it's all flat and sleek, and then you go outside and it's humid or kinda misty, and in 10mins your hair is all puffy and wavy again? How does one go about stopping that? Some kind of mousse or hairspray? Normally if it's that kind of weather my hair is tied back anyway, but earlier this week I had a date and I had my hair looking all good, and by the time I got to the restaurant it looked like I hadn't straightened it in the slightest, argh! So now I'm finally motivated to figure out how to stop it from happening. My hair is colored blonde too, if that matters.

    Thanks gals!!!

I know a lot of ladies who swear by chi silk infusion as a heat protectant. It's the alcohol in it that's supposed to combat humidity/frizz.

    Is that a spray?

    It's more like a leave-in treatment. http://www.amazon.com/CHI-Silk-Infus...8068377&sr=8-1

I would try that or the Straight Guard. They're both supposed to be really good.

ETA: I actually just saw that the Silk Infusion doesn't have any alcohol in it! I must be thinking of the generic brand sold at Sally's. That's where they differed ingredients-wise if I recall correctly.

I'm in Houston, so I deal with humidity every day. Plus, I have naturally wavy hair; it gets scary. Aquage is a line of products specifically for humid climates; it's pretty great. As far as keeping your hair as you style it, even if you don't use Aquage, I recommend using a deep conditioner beforehand, styling, then using hair spray after you're done with the heat. If you use too many products before you style, then your hair doesn't hold as well.

I use silicone based shine serum, but I have very dense and fluffy hair. Some people are opposed to silicone based products but I've never had a problem.

^^ Which one do you use? Is there a reason people are opposed to silicon products?

Silicone products are very dense, have the potential to weigh the hair down, and can be hell to wash out unless you want to use a clarifying shampoo (which can strip the hair and make it very dry). But that's why they work against humidity. They coat the hair shaft in such a way that moisture can't get in.

Moroccan oil... I put it on my hair dry daily.
