Hey guys,
Home and bored so making my first post. Why am I bored, you ask? Because I broke myself. Twice.
Took 5 days off a few weeks ago because I randomly woke up with a pinched nerve in my shoulder. Not surprising really, being a crazy stage monkey at times. Got better, and was cruising off to work for the first time that week when I stepped off the edge of the path, rolled over on my ankle with a big crunch, and landed on my ass. Went from "OMG that hurt!" to "actually it's OK, maybe I'm fine" to "oh bugger, nope, I can't walk..."
Hobbled back to the house and didn't walk for a week. Got X-rays, discovering that whilst it was not broken, I have previously fractured it (being unaware of this, it was left untreated) and that I had torn 3 of the ligaments in the lower ankle this time. Started physio a week ago, and with 2 sessions under my belt, I still swell up at the slightest strain or effort, I have way too limited balance, and heels are absolutely not an option. I have a great pain tolerance, but I am worried about re-injury. Went to see my manager at the end of last week, and asked about working in flats as part of a costume (nurse) and he kinda just pulled a face at me. I know the club are strict on dress code, but I have customers constantly asking when I'll be back....
At this point I am wondering whether to bring my BA forward and do it while I am recovering from my ankle injury, since I am off work anyway.
So, I guess some questions for the ladies. Have you ever injured your ankle badly? How long did you take to recover and what measures did you take to ensure you didn't re-injure it? Any Australian girls financed their BA's? (as I wasn't planning it until later this year, I have not reached my savings goals for it yet) If so, who did you finance with? I'd be paying it off in full come December this year at the latest.
Anyone tried camming whilst injured as an alternative source as income? I am terribly worried about being recorded, however, as I have a strong online identity and following with my modelling work, and a big, distinctive tattoo, and would hate to see the 2 connected together. I've already been recognised at my dancing job a few times because of this. Fortunately my modelling identity is also an alias, so I haven't been recognised by my real name just yet. I just really need a payday, as using my savings to pay my bills is rather unsettling.
Looking for any tips, advice, finance options or suggestions anyone may have, or your experiences with camming as an alternative to dancing whilst injured.
Thanks...
