    Default Thin-spiration... Weight Loss blog

Hey so I stumbled across this blog/website, I dunno if other girls have seen this... www.skinnygossip.com ?
Its pretty provocative in terms of how it presents body issues. What I found most intriguing was the message board, and "starving tips of the day" I'm not totally sure how I feel about this site, there seems to be a lot of body dysmorphia issues, but then again I've lost a couple lbs since following some of their weight loss tips so I probably shouldn't judge...

Noooo! Those sites are terrible, and they usually feature girls who are WAY too thin. Stay healthy!

Having been on sites like that before, it's very clear you’re dealing with people with serious emotional/cognitive disorders who use this as a maladaptive way to cope. The poor souls operate on some very basic but insane and dangerous assumptions. First, they go on about the health risks of being overweight, except you quickly realize their definition of overweight is basically anyone who is above 100 lbs and not at least borderline anorexic. Everything is black and white in that world: you’re either “healthy” (anorexic) or “fat” (not anorexic).

Second, they live in a twilight zone where eating disorders are simply “healthy eating” and there is never such a thing as being underweight, which naturally means there is no acknowledgment that A) it’s just as unhealthy as being overweight, and B) women medically need 4 times the minimum amount of body fat as men do just to be able to menstruate and produce enough estrogen to prevent osteoporosis and many other diseases.

Even when they pretend to care about health and medical issues, their “facts” are all assbackward and blatantly distorted if not downright made up. Pretty sad but dangerous at the same time, considering how easy it is for young girls to be brainwashed by this nonsense before they're old enough to know better.

I don't like this blog at all. She shouldn't be calling thin/normal girls fat. It pisses me off.

Barabara Palvin is like a perfect ten, no 20...& she is considered fat???? This Blogger is out of her mind! There was another model on there with a nice ass, someone said it was too big. Shit, if they saw mine. Lol.

I don't like it. Spending that much time hating on anyone or anything on the internet gets my back up, even if it is 'fat' people.... And a lot of these people aren't fat.

Yeah, I thought it was provocative to say the least. Ive never seen that type of site before, I was surprised at the number of contributors as well...

But ^BOTM, agreed on the visuals, And I found some good suggestions for using diluted organic apple cider vinegar as a facial toner, also to drink it for digestive health...

I've been reading shape.com for great healthy tips and advice. I used to read blogs and websites like the one u posted when I was sixteen and with eating disorders I'm way past that stage of my life and realized it did way more harm to me than good.

I agree.... Lindsay Lohan went from super skeletor thin, to average-ish body, but pure flab! Which is even more reason and inspiration for me to lift weights and eat meat. I NEVER want to be skinny-fat, or worse average-fat, I like to be firm and tight

I did like some of the tips, and overall some of the stuff I read, little things that teach more not to indulge yourself with food so much, not to be emotionally bound to food, stuff like that. The crazy is stuff is easily recognizable and I just kind of laughed at it....

I think a group of us should get together, preferably in the Ladies Only section, or outside of here, and do a body transformation countdown motivational group..... We've seen threads like this, but we should change it up..... like have 2 week, one month, two month goals, all of us get on fitday, and we all have to enter everything we eat.... I don't know, I'm rambling.

But it wouldn't have to be just for getting in shape. If you want to get skeletor thin, that's okay, or even gain weight, muscle, ,lose specific inches in some part of your body, whatever......

I didn't really see anything helpful on that site, nothing about exploring your relationship with food. Just reductive labeling of eating as "bad behavior" and starving as "good behavior". Also when they discussed the baby food diet I sort of smirked because that was something I had dabbled in myself (a few months later I was hospitalized for Anorexia that I had been ignoring for four years but I digress).

I think that it is possible to love your body while still wanting to "improve" it whether that means increasing tone for vanity or decreasing fat for health but that website was just full of yucky vibes.

I just spent the past hour on the fitspo tumblr, and I think I saved about a million pictures from it to my computer

One that I loved that was along the lines of what I was thinking during my workout, is the one that said "Sweat is fat crying"

I was sweating SO hard today, and I was all...yeah thats right, thats my fat going "screw this! Im out of here!" and pouring out of my body...yeah thats right, get the hell out! I was so dying today...not only did I decide for the first time I was going to do an hour instead of half an hour of interval training, the tvs on all the ellipitals were only showing a sports channel, and the music on my phone wouldnt play...so I was working out with only my thoughts to keep me entertained, so I had a lot of goofy stuff going on in my brain in the last 20 or so minutes hehe!

    I love thinspiration.
I finally got that thigh gap, reached my goal weight and am happy.
No ribs are showing, I don't look like a walking skeleton, I just look like my skinny 'ole self again.
and I believe I've been doing it in a healthy way. I don't make myself puke. I eat when I'm hungry, stop when I'm full.
    I don't think that's weird or unhealthy... :/

Someone like me who was born without curves (no tits or ass) and was born naturally thin, I can appreciate other thin girls.
and have been working hard to maintain the figure that I was born with...even after having 2 kids.

I didn't read anything on the site, I have my own personal favorite thin-spiration sites that I just go to for the pics and the little motivational sayings.

back when i first joined stripperweb, this thread would not even be allowed. they had a strict policy on no proana sites. there were a group of girls at the time that were openly battling eating disorders and if your thread had anything to do with dieting a lot of girls would write something a long the lines of "trigger" in the title. i know there are girls on this site that struggle with this disease (though not openly) and it is a shame that we have girls on here promoting a disease that is very real.

That blog is dumb. They just idolize girls who are built like runway models, and call every girl who is not built like one fat. Not everyone wants to look like a runway model. Not everyone is built like one either. I'd much rather look like a lingerie model than a runway model. Yet that would still be called "fat" by them even if the girl had the same exact percentage of fat on her body as a runway model. Delusional, really. However, some of the weight loss tips were good, but there was far too much delusion and BDD for me to be able to take the blog seriously lol.
