"scared money, don't make no money"

Because it's confusing.
If customers come in to see Sophia... and another Sophia is up on the stage... they get befuddled. In this internet-heavy life we all lead, my stage name gets excellent reviews. I'd hate for a customer to come in to see the original Sophia and get stuck with Sophia #2... then give that sophia (the only one as far as he knows) a poor review.
In my club reputation matters. Customers call in to see if a certain girl is working. If there is another Sophia there, they get upset... if they don't know me, they get confused... it has happened before.
That and the fact that when the DJ calls Sophia up to the stage or to the VIP rooms, I have to wonder whether it is me or the other Sophia(s). It's fucking irritating.

I've worked with other "Sophias"... at one point in my career, I was working with 3 other "Sophias" during the course of a shift.
Last names aren't common here... but last initials are. Initials like Sophia X, Sophia Y, and Sophia Z.... are annoying to say the least.
*NOTE* Not my club, and Sophia is not my stage name FYI.
Check out this club (the one with the most last initials I have ever seen on a roster) http://www.gogonj.com/schedule-2/ and their schedule for the following week: http://www.gogonj.com/schedule/
Fuck that.
I deal with enough bullshit questions regarding my "real" name, I deal with other nonsense when guys don't believe my "real" name is my REAL name... now I have to keep track of another letter... which I don't even care to waste my breath on... all thanks to ladies who don't how to get creative and find ANOTHER name of the bazillion-gajjilions of names that are out there. No thanks... it's a pain in the butt, confusing to customers, annoying for DJ's, and all things considered, causes problems for the same-named-dancer.

Most clubs I ever worked at had a rule where there were no two dancers with the same name. At one club I even had to change my normal dancer name from Kelly to Candy because there was a Kelly but no Candy (I know, Candy ugh). At clubs that didn't have this rule it could cause confusion because guys might come in just to see one dancer then find another one. Not to mention that if one dancer with the same name gets arrested or gets a dirty rep the other dancer with the same name might find herself in trouble too.

I've changed my stage name several times before. I always had a list in my mind of the top 10 names I'd like to have when auditioning for a new club. My latest club doesn't allow name-double-dipping... so I thought for a moment and got a different name that I was happy with, even though it wasn't my first choice.
Those are the club rules. I guess those rules exist so that there is NO conflict or animosity between dancers.

Ar one club they even kept a baby book in the dressing room for stage names because there were a lot of dancers and no double names. The one club where I had to change my name they actually gave names to new girls and they decided to call me Candy. I hated that and ended up hating the club because they were too strict (and stupid) over some things and too lenient on things they shouldn't have been. I always had other names available and danced under these names too: Rio, Roxanne, Misty and a few others I forget.

Most clubs won't allow two dnacers with the same stage name for the reasons Sophia mentioned. They don't want to risk losing customers or having them upset. I don't like it personaly because I put alot of thought and energy into developing regulars. If they asked for me and another dancer going by the same name approached their table, it would be awkward at best. Most of our customers are repeats and it took me six to eight months after comming out of retirement to cultivate a base clientele. I don't want my efforts ruined by someone who may not take the same care.
When I first moved here and worked for one of the four Talent's West clubs, I wasn't allowed to use the name I'd chosen because it was already taken at one of their other clubs-not the one I intended to work at. But knowing the potential confusion caused by duplicate names, management told me to choose something else. So, I made one up. It wasn't a problem. Be creative, think of something different- it's not the end of the world.

My club didn't have a baby-name book, (though they probably should have invested in one) they did, however have a list of names that were taken. I cross-referenced that list against my top ten names and found a happy compromise.
It's not that big of a deal, really... but when reputations get involved that is when I get ticked off. Once, at a different club, I worked with a woman who had the same stage name as me... she began working there about a year after me... her name was spelled differently but pronounced the same way... she was a gap-toothed-skank... customers got word that "MyName" did this and that and then some... then I had to deal with the scum-bags due to her reputation, customer confusion, and all that jazz.
My club irritates me because they allow dancers that work on different shifts to use the same stage name. For example, my name at work is Danica. I work on night shift, but they recently hired a day shift dancer who wanted to go by Danica as well. They allow her to use the name because they assume since we work on different shifts that it wouldn't be problem. Well, 1) If I ever decide to work on dayshift I will now have to use a different name 2) Men check the website for the list of girls working, and I've had several guys tell me they came in during the day because they saw my name on the list only to be disappointed when they realize I'm not there and they see what day-shift Danica looks like.
It's just unnecessary confusion. I think they should make it so if a stage name is being used, it's taken for both shifts.

I've never met another Tempestbwah hah hah!

If a stage name is so inconsequential.... why don't you just choose another stage name?
If another dancer is upset, why risk inspiring her ire?
It's just a name, after all. Right?
*i don't know who had the name first, but honestly, if it is a big deal then why not just diffuse the situation? i am assuming that gotti didn't have the name first (in that club)... i could be wrong... but if i am correct then what i've written above applies.*

Ugh I had to change my name when I moved clubs, and the girl using my old name has not worked since I started! I don't even really like my new name, my second choice ws also taken so I went with my old fake-real-name, which was bland. I want a stripper name again![]()

It's important for many of the reasons posted above. In my case, principally, because of customer confusion and its effect on reputation. It's not cool to have customers coming up, asking me for extras because they heard (my name) gives out hand jobs. uuuughhhhh.
All the reasons already stated. And as Sophia said, if it's "just a name," pick another one. One of the reasons it's so annoying is because it shouldn't be that difficult to get creative and think up another name if the one you want is already in use at that club. There are a bazillion names out there. And a bazillion more if you consider the fact that strippers have the gift of being able to give themselves ridiculous "inanimate object/thing" names without it sounding stupid (most of the time). This isn't the name you got by being named after your great-great-grandmother... it's a stage name...no sentimental value... if it's already taken, move on, it's not the end of the world. Creating confusion and pissing off an already established dancer because you don't want to pick a different name out of the infinite options is just plain lazy. A dancer who was at the club long before you could start war over many more things... Starting off in a new place by creating drama over a FAKE name is not going to make your life there any easier.
Don't try to win over the haters. You are not the Jerk Whisperer.
Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you.
I don't think a club should ever let two dancers have the same name. Whoever had it first gets it, and the new girl has to pick something new.
That said, I've kept my name at all the clubs I've worked at... I'd be pretty bummed if my name was taken although I've never met another dancer with it.
Every club Ive worked in didnt allow double names..even if 100 girls worked in one night they wouldn't let 2 girls have the same name, even if those girls worked different shifts. I can't believe other clubs don't work like that! It's just too confusing if a guy shows up asking for "Andrea " and there's 3 of them, you know?
There are so many names in the world, every club should only let one girl use one name. I've gotten hired at places and I had to work under a different name because another girl took my stage name. Big deal, as much as I liked my stage name, I can find another I like just as much. Most clubs would wait until a dancer hadn't shown up for a few months/quit then they'd let another girl take her name.
I think that's fair. Because why have 3,4 or more girls with the same name working? Confusing and annoying for everyone.

Maybe it has something to do with having a big ego?
My club doesn't allow double names but if they did and someone had my name I wouldn't care really.

actually i was the first gotti in my home club, but i found out soon enough there was another gotti who now dances in charlotte, so I know the feeling.. just that I have seen other dancers get extremely upset and it to the point that i will sit there with a BLANKSTARE mind blown by the reactions I see...
im known for having many stage names for this reason oh and the fact that when i do work in the white club GOTTI doesnt fit so Ill go by Hollywood or Brooklynn
