Dizzy how much do you tip out? mandatory?

Ok, so the club i used to work at was a 20 house fee for my shift, 15 or 20 dj fee depending on what day of the week. And that was it. Im at a club now, that even tho the money is good and consistent, i cant get over how much i am expected to pay on a nightly basis. Maybe im not used to it but it just boggles my mind... last night, i "made" 500, which is a decent, not awesome, night. I payed my 20 to the house, 5 to the housemom, 50 bucks to the dj (percentage club ugh) 5 to the bouncer, and 2 to to the valet. Then i ended up being harrassed by any and everyone about not tipping enough cuz i had such an awesome night....? I already had to dish out over 80 bucks out of 500, and everyone was wanting 10+ extra.... call me selfish or whatever, but last i knew, it was me making my money. I feel like im being pimped out sometimes cuz so much of my money goes to the club. Nights that we do drink specials, i end up paying 20 more to the club. Luckily last night during the special, i was in vip so that saved me some money. But on average, i normally pay anywhere between 90 to 200 a night just for tipout. Last week i ended up making 1300 hundred one night, and walked with 5 bucks over a grand. I dont mind tipping people extra when they help me, but i do get kinda irritated when they think they r entitled to a piece of the pie just because i made it. I dont get pissed off when i see a customers wallet full of hundreds and he only tips me a 10. It is his money, he earns it, he is free to tip whatever he chooses. Theres been some nights ill toss the dj a little extra cuz he helped, or was just being cooperative. Same with the bouncers and every now and then the house mom...

I guess my question is, is this normal tip out amounts and i just got spoiled working in a flat 40 mandatory club, or is this a little much? I have been trying not to let it get to me, but i got to thinking about how much money per week i fork over to the club. Id really like to think im not being greedy, like i said i dont mind tipping out extra when people help me, but i do get erked when just cuz i made money, everyone is supposed to make money (off of me). If these fees are ok, just tell me to suck it up. Im not trying to be a baby, its just this tip out system is new to me.

You're not selfish. The people that you mention are, however, entitled vultures.

I pay minimum mandatory tip outs unless someone goes above and beyond for me, or does a favor for me, or whatever. At times I try to get into a particular host or DJ's good graces by tipping more but that is by my choice. No one should be piggy-backing on your success.

I was just dumb founded when the bouncer straight up told me, "u did 2 half an hour rooms, u need to toss me an extra 10"... wtf. Yea i did do those rooms, ME. Not you. Asshole. He didnt help me sell them, or point me in that customers direction, nada. Why should he get that money?

We pay on the weekdays: $22 plus $5 a dance.
Weekends: Around $50-$65 (depending on how many floorguys we have. They get $5 a piece and the DJ gets a mandatory $10) plus $5 per dance.
When we do Champagne for the hour: We get $250 and the club gets $300. Then I have to take 10% from my $250 and give to the Champagne host. Yeah I loathe Champagne.

Oh yuck! 250 for an hour?? Im sorry and yet the club gets 50 bucks more than u? Correct if im wrong, but without strippers, thered be no strip clubs. Its amazing how some clubs function and screw over dancers.

Ive never had a problem tipping when its deserved but i think that bouncer last night screwed up any chance at making extra money off of me. The second someone straight up asks (let alone demands) extra money out of me, the cash flow will stop. To assume more than mandatory based on my earnings, which to me, 500 aint alll that, drives me insane! Its called a tip for a reason. Next time he asks for a bigger tip, im gonna be a cheesy smart ass and say something to the effect of "u want a tip? Get a different job if ur not happy with ur pay"

One thing that irritates the crap out of me right now is credit card tips for dances in my name. The club already takes a cut of each dance run on a card, so I tell guys that don't have cash to tip me a little extra to make up for that. The bartender gets the receipts (with the tips on them) and pays me out the cash...but I have noticed that he is keeping the tips for himself. WTF. It's not like he did the dances; that tip was for ME!

But since I don't always see the guy sign the receipt and tip, I feel uncomfortable making a big stink about it. I don't know how to handle it.

Beyond that, we pay a house fee plus 10% to the DJ, and another 10% to the bartender. Why are these people expecting 20% of my income every night? I'm a good tipper in general, as I used to be a waitress, but I want it to be MY decision who gets what. Especially when there are a couple bartenders who actually cost me money by being out smoking or otherwise unavailable when I -- or my customer -- needs them. Grrr.

I tip out the minimum unless someone did something nice or extra for me. Too bad if they get pissy over it.

At my fulltime club we pay $20 a day for house fee and minimum $10 or 10% to the DJ. Of course tip the bartender here and there for drinks/food.

Two clubs I traveled to were $50 housefee but no DJ. I gave one of the bouncers a few dollars because they helped me carry my things.
The other club was just a $10 DJ fee which was awesome.

Most of the clubs I've worked at get money from me when I sell dances just to get into the damn rooms so yeah right like I will give them any more.

We have to deal with a lot to make our money so be as greedy as you want. I am only nice to employees who help me. If they didn't help me make my money then they can fuck off.

my opinion about that has evolved over my dancing career. I've noticed that even if you are generous with tips, people become greedier and greedier and you always get the short end of the stick. I've started just tipping minimum cause they usually treat me shitty anyways so at least I'm not wasting money. We earn our tips, so should they.

Honestly, I think the amount you are tipping out seems reasonable. 15-22 percent. Does your club have a deal if you work a certain number of day per week then you save on house fees? If not, you should suggest it. Work 3 days, free house fee for the rest of the week.

I over tip everyone. Im a spoiled brat, I come in super late, sometimes leave early, the managers treat me really well when it comes to house fees and vip tables, and cash out my funny money well after the club has already closed. I know i wouldnt get any of that if it wernt for my tips. But hey, they also get me great tables so i think its totally worth it. Gotta spend a little money to make a lotta money. That being said, nothing pisses me off more then someone who thinks they deserve/expect my money. Then, they get less tip then they would have otherwise.

I'm with you on the bullshit of them thinking just cuz you made more that night they get more. Especially if they all make you tip them when you had a shitty night. Like when you're leaving in the negative! F U! If you're not gonna cut me some slack if I don't make money I sure as hell aren't giving you extra when I do especially when on my good nights do not involve you helping me make that extra. The club I recently left would make girls get money out of the ATM if they didn't make enough for tipout. Whatever! I quit after 4 shifts and my last shift I left with $5.

I like dancing at dive bars- no DJs and no stage fees.
I tip my bartender 10% and my bouncer 5%, but I always over tip (until they make me mad! lol).
