Default Went once and now I'm hooked! Help Me!

K just went to my first strip club with a coworker last week, I'm OBSESSED! Only 2 girls did anything on the pole that I couldn't do. I was shocked. I now have a membership to a local ladies gym with pole classes and chair, bunch of other dance classes as well and I'm obsessed with auditioning at this club with in the next year just to see if they'd hire me.

Questions is 26 to "old" to be stripping?

What's the average jean size of strippers? I saw so many different sizes from 00 - 8/10

Is it possible to just work 1 or 2 nights a month? Or should I just stick to amateur nights at random clubs?

Can my day job fire me if they find out I'm stripping?

    Thanks ladies!

    1. 26 is not too old. Many women dance into their 40's, and still look good. No one will care about your age as long as you present yourself well and have a good personality.

    2. Dancers come in all shapes and sizes.

    3. If a club doesn't require a schedule, yes.

    4. Yes, you can be fired. Is it legal? No. You can get fired for anything.

    Thanks for the replies!

My day job isn't worth risking losing...I think I'll stick to off the books amateurs nights, it's not about money for me, but just the experience.

Depending on where you live, dancing might well be off the books anyway - at least in terms of having a dancers license etc. What you do with taxes is a whole other story. But a lot of clubs don't keep any official record of their dancers, don't file any paperwork or issue tax forms etc, so in that sense you might be able to stay off the radar to your day job just fine.

Where you're likely to get caught out, is simply someone seeing you, and word getting around. It only takes once for you to be talk of the office and then immediately you're in the position like M!nx mentioned ^^, where it's not legal to fire you but your reputation is shot and you could easily be let go. So if losing your job is something that you can't risk happening, amateur nights are absolutely no safer. In fact they might be worse, because they draw a crowd, unlike a regular night with regular business,

^ Respectfully I disagree BOTM, I chose dancing because I wanted the experience- I saw the money as one element within the "seedy glamorous" world I pictured dancing to be, wanting the experience is my main motivator to chase something in life. That said, I started for the experience and stayed for the monies.

OP, I agree with everything else posted. Don't do it if you can't afford to lose your Day Job, BOTM makes suggestions of alternate options that will give you a taste. Reading the posts on this site will give you a far more balanced perspective of what dancing is like from a strippers POV.

If your schedule allows you could strip in another town/state but if anyone from your town travels for work & goes to strip clubs in your hometown then sooner or later it's likely you will meet.

BTW, I'm 32 on the 18th of June.

There are various sizes. But just because there are strippers of all shapes and sizes doesn't mean every club will hire you

It depends on if you're in a schedule nazi region like me or not.
Can my day job fire me if they find out I'm stripping?
No, but there's ways around it.

    Thank you ladies.

I've been a member/lurker since 2008, but I've never stepped foot in a club till last week.

As strong as my desire is to dance and actually just get really good a pole tricks and acrobatics...it's not worth losing my job and not just any job, I'm a teacher.

So I'll take your advice and stick to the classes and maybe if I get really good I'll do some "'masked" videos and at least be able to show off my talents a bit.

    Thanks!!!!

If you're dancing in the same town as your day job, sooner or later people will find out. Whilst they aren't legally able to fire you for it, if your day job is really important and even slightly up-tight, it's my guess it will effect your career.

Also, if your main reason for dancing is to do pole work - I wouldn't recommend stripping. Obviously it depends on the club and the area but in my experience pole tricks are like 5% of the job.

26 is definitely not too old though and the average jeans size would depend on what sort of club your auditioning for. The more classier clubs generally only hire girls that are an Australian 8 or smaller (I think this is smaller than a US size 4), however other clubs won't have these requirements and there will be girls there of all sizes.
Some mistakes are too much fun to only make once.

They can't fire you for you stripping or being a stripper. thats sexual harassment and a huge lawsuit....but they can fire you for another reason if they find out, so bottom line is do your job right. Do not talk about it to anyone at work....so on the DL. If someone asks you at work if they saw you....it will be considered sexual harassment if they keep bothering you and if they do see you at the club and talk to you about it just lie...and if youre at the club just tell them you never recognized them. This is what I would do.
    You;re not too old.
dancers come in all shape and sizes I am a size 5 on a good day and size 7 at on a bad day :p
I have taken pole classes as well and watch youtube like its my religion and practice at home. get a big mirror if you dont have one and practice

I totally agree with you, I don't think I'd have the ovaries to get off the pole and approach tip bar...LoL I'll see how the classes go

It sounds like you'd enjoy pole classes more. =] I'm just going to add that firing you for being employed as a dancer is discrimination and you could sue. I've looked into this as I am applying to grad school to become a teacher. I don't imagine I'll strip and teach at the same time, but while I'm in school it's an option.

If you really want to try it and you are a teacher with a summer break coming up, it's totally doable. I'd recommend dancing a 3-5 hour drive outside your home area. Totally doable for 3-5 day long dancer trips. I danced on the sly for a couple of years and 80% of the time, I was only 3.5 hours from where my home area ( and conservative family / job was ). If you are a teacher, it's just not worth doing locally in my opinion.

I was totally obsessed with dancing too but the money was Always a part of it for me. I'd never get naked for free in a swingers situation or something like that. If you are really just doing it for thrills, you can do that in other avenues like other people have suggested. I assume it's way MORE thrilling though when you are making good money.

Keep in mind that dancers don't always make good money! It's quite a depressing situation when you travel somewhere and it's like pulling teeth to get people to buy dances ( happens to everyone at some point ).

The thing I disliked the most about dancing was staying up till 2a.m. - 4a.m. and having my body thrown off from late hours. It's fun at first ( sleeping till Noon ) but I felt like my whole life was just being sucked up by staying up late / sleeping late / not even being in day light for 3-4 hours until I'd go back into a dark club at 6p.m.!

I'd totally recommend traveling dancing for you though because I think you'll have a break from your teaching job coming up and it's the perfect time to try it. I danced all over the western U.S. traveling by pick up truck ( I had a shell on it and would sleep back there sometimes and at hostels or hotels sometimes ). My main goals were just to have no one I knew in my civilian life find out about stripping AND to keep as much of my stripping money as possible ( I watched costs by trying to travel as cheaply as I could without being totally ridiculous about it ).
