    Default Makeup to look older

Does anybody have any tips or tricks to make yourself look older (at work)? I'm 23 but people often say I look like 19/20, which is a pain as it sometimes puts people off or they treat you differently.

I usually do darkish smokey eyes (but don't think I have it down very well, eyeshadow isn't that good either I don't think) with long evening lashes if I can be bothered with them. I wear my hair down, it's long and naturally curly.

I think if I'm wearing a mini dress rather than bright dance bikini I maybe look more womanly (I think it makes me look curvier and lengthens my legs).
    !
I might just have one of those faces. Thanks

I have this issue... I am 20 yet get the 'barely legal' comments all the time. Sometimes playing up to it works a charm, schoolgirl skirt and cropped tie shirt.

Straightening my hair always makes me seem older, as well as smokey eyes. If you're looking for a good eyeshadow I would always recommend urban decay. You can get a lot of looks out of the naked palette and it's pretty reasonably priced compared to quads from dior etc.

I was always told, short hair does the strick. Also dieing your hair in a dark shade of red. I would continue the dark eye shadow look (don't forget eyeliner). The mini dress (maybe even right above the knee length) sounds like a great idea because it does leave more to imagination. It temporarily hides your figure (if you're petite) so they won't know your small at first glance

Wow, I feel like I could of written this.. who would of thought looking young would ever be a problem!! Ugh, but I hear ya on people treating you differently, almost discounting your worth bc they figure you'll be flakey or not sexually mature enough or something.. not to mention the fact that they're kids look more mature than you. I have tried more and less makeup, lashes no lashes, curly or straight hair.. it doesn't help. I used to always wear long gowns and that seems to help. Try to have more sophisticated outfits and real looking jewelry. If you're like me you have a naturally high voice that gets higher and little girl sounding with excitement, so don't get too animated when introducing yourself. Also, when you get that rude and oh so annoying "How old are YOU?!" act slightly offended and embarrassed and ask them "How old do I look??" And let them settle on an age.. if they throw out 20 but look unhappy with that just be like "c'mon, you don't have to flatter me" or something like that. If they say mid or late 20's and seem happy with that just be like, "hey you're pretty good" but take your time settling on what your age "really" is and if he is regular material remember what you told him! This is why I try to never give an exact number. I've seen "older" dancers do this bc they have the opposite problem. I've also heard women in their 30's/40's in and out of clubs say that young women answer quickly with their age. I swear some of the highest earners I work with are mid 30's or older.. while assholes might make nasty comments and the young ones might not wanna throw dollars at them, they suck those lonely rich guys right in.

How long is "long" in regards to your hair? And are the curls natural looking or more polished? For the purpose of looking older, I think that having a more polished look with your curls would help a lot. Also, do you know how to use different shades of concealer and/or powdered eye shadow to contour? Contouring would make your bone structure look more pronounced. An easy look that might help you achieve a nice smoky eye without looking too young is shown in this tutorial: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5kZT4IXfcNU It's Michelle Phan's "Angelina Jolie in The Tourist" look.

    ^ That makeup is gorgeous!

Yeah I could definitely do with contouring, I have quite round features which looks cute and childish more than anything. I'll work on that, better eyeliner and shaping eyebrows- after she drew an arch in hers she looked so different!

Definitely sticking with wearing dresses, guys have been commenting how much they like it lately ^_^

^I love the look too. That girl is amazing with makeup and she's really easy to follow. I recommend looking over her "plump lips" video too if you really want the Angelina look. It's an easy lip liner trick that takes a few seconds and adds a lot to your overall look. I knew to line like she says before watching the video, but she tweaks the highlighting as well.
