I bought the L'Oreal Feria Extra Bleached Blonde #205 1 step lightening system. It's been roughly about 2 weeks since I went to the salon. Can I/should I use this on my hair or should I just go back to the salon?

I'm going through the same thing. I'm going to a salon to get my blonde done, but I feel like this lady is going to fuck it up or give me an ugly shade so I'm like well if I did it at home at least I'd know what I'm doing...
Are you just touching up the roots or doing all over blonde again? I'd say go to a salon, but if you've been to that person before and hated the results, do not go back. I wish hair dressers would be honest about their skills and abilities, but they aren't. I guess their egos gets in the way. You could always try to do it at home... PM Avery- she gives good at-home blonde advice.

Kinda like my wig its honey blonde at the tips lighter blonde on top. I posted some recent pics in picture post.

I would really wait for your stylist to come back. Especially if your hair is different shades in different places already, it will be really difficult to get a uniform color or have there not be a drastic contrast. You'll need to get any color stripped out before using a bleaching product like that or what will probably happen is your roots, depending on their current color, will either turn bright white or barely lighten at all, the lighter part might lighten a little, and the darker part will stay a lot darker than the part that lightened (same as if your roots are really dark already). When I started bleaching my hair at home, that's what happened to me. The ends that were a darker blonde before never lightened to the bleach blonde that I was dying my new hair. It looked ridiculous forever because I refused to just cut off the darker parts until they grew way out...I'm retarded lol
I looked up the product and am seeing all sorts of bad reviews from people saying it mismatched the color of their hair/didn't lighten it at all/or even turned their hair a darker blonde. Some even say they got a yellow-ish color which is also something that happened to me the very first time I attempted DIY blonde-ing - and that looked awful. If this product is anything like that one that turned my hair school-spirit yellow, stay away from it! If your stylist is on vacation for 2 weeks, it would really bite to mess up your hair and not be able to have someone you trust fix it in a timely manner. If she's been doing a good job on your hair, I would wait it out. It's not worth screwing up your hair to get it done only 2 weeks earlier.

Oh please please please go to a salon!!! At home bleaching (especially with box color) is so risky!!!!!! I say this with 5 years of salon experience. Go to a reputable salon and ask for a senior stylist if you are concerned about the stylist's skills. And if you are not satisfied with the results, any salon worth their weight will offer a redo service at no charge. Don't ruin your beautiful hair! Some root regrowth is better than bright orange, weird, multi tone hair!!

I would say give it a try.
I was able to get my blonde hair myself.
I used the Clairol Born Blonde Bleach kit.
I think one time won't hurt. If it doesn't get you to the results you want, I'd wait a little longer, but personally (just from my experience) I would say give it a go.

This!^ It sounds like you bought a drugstore boxed color? They aren't strong enough to really lighten hair, so yeah you might end up w/an orange-y color.
I do my roots only at home, using professional Clairol color from Sally's..now my roots down to about my ears is darker, & past that through my ends is very light from the sun/ + highlighting awhile back. After I dye my roots w/perm color, I am using water-based color Roux on the lighter areas to darken them a bit so the all over color is not so contrasting.
What ever you do, good luck.
I bleach my own hair with volume 25 developer and the powder bleach from sally's and it comes out pretty damn good : ) i think ill go to the salon to get the bottom of my hair lightened to the same color but for my touch-ups every 3 weeks i do it myself. And save a shit load of money. I think it depends on what color blonde u are tho. Im platinum so it's easy if you've got highlights or anything that'll b harder. Good luck

Knowing what I know now, I would wait, if I were you. I lightened the fuck out of my hair from black and it was pretty much fine the first few rounds. Then, I waited 3 more weeks, bleached the roots and put a toner all over and it fucked my hair up bad. I have extremely thick hair and the amount of hair that broke off was literally enough to fill someone else's ponytail. I'm not bald or anything from it and I've since done keratin treatments so it's not as damaged as it could be, but really, you can't be sure if this is going to be the one to put your hair over the edge. You recently posted that it felt mushy in the shower---that is the number one sign of damage that you need to look out for. I was hard-headed and ignored everyone who told me to be patient, so I get where you're coming from, but I really think it'd be best to wait.

Please wait! 4 months later and I am still growing out my shitty ass pixie cut from not being patient. :/ 2 weeks is not too long![]()

I personally would never touch my own hair. Especially with drug store colours. I did once when I was a dirt poor student... Vowed never again. But depends on your own skill and confidence I guess...

Thanks to everyone for all the replies. I'm leaving it alone and doing a deep conditioning treatment before my shoot tomorrow. No need to show up with my hair falling out and having to wear a wig in 80 degree heat.

^ If its for a shoot you can always get the photographer to tweak to the colour you want on photoshop. I did that for my 1 and only shoot. I had platinum with hideous roots and she made the roots disappear![]()
