    Default receding gumline

I think several years of smoking has led to me having a bit of a receded gumline. The thing is it is not on all of my teeth. Some of my teeth are more receded than others. Such as one of the "fang" tooth's has a decent gumline, but another "fang" tooth has a severely receded gum line. It confuses me.

Any suggestions on what to do with receding gums? I have stopped smoking and drinking hard liquor. I think I will try to do fluoride rinses which might help.

I do floss every evening and brush my teeth twice a day.

Anyone else have this problem and have suggestions on stopping it? I don't want to have to get gum surgery grafting so I want to try to stop this from getting any worse now. Thanks for your help

I do. It's runs in my family my sister had the grafting and it didn't work. They, depending how bad the pockets are will suggest a deep cleaning which is really expensive like I just needed my bottom teeth and they do it in sections because it's very painful and they wanted like 600. I have insurance but not dental so I've yet to get it done but I guess I should get on it soon because if the pockets get too deep you can lose your teeth.

Go to the dentist. This isn't something to fuck around with.

I do. It's partially genetic and also caused by my braces moving the position of my teeth so the gum position changing. Definitely continue daily flossing. Go to the dentist and they may have to do a skin graft. My mom had it done... The problem with receding gums is periodontal disease and your teeth could eventually fall out.

Thanks everyone. Looked up a list of dentists and periodontists already. One of the teeth looks bad like really long...funny how it is only that one tooth. Making an appointment on Monday. If it costs a lot I don't care some of them have financing options. I guess all these years of smoking really caught up. Need to keep my teeth now. Dentures are not sexy and teeth implants are super expensive.

Yeah you`re going to need to get a graft done...I`ve had one and it is not a fun experience...unless you need to go on a diet, the whole not being able to swallow anything thats not soup or smoothie for a week or so is great for the belly silver lining!
