    Default Positioning of the camera

I never seriously considered my cameras positioning until today while just searching for laptop vs. desktop...and it suddenly became more important to me than whether I have a laptop or desktop.

I only have a laptop (well, 6 laptops considering I've gone through so many over the past 8 years) and it will overheat if I push it too hard, for example I can't use manycam because of it. I had to purchase a new webcam because the one installed on the laptop was absolute crap and I posted about how thrilled I was about the new one...it was the best purchase I ever made IMHO.

Anyway, I've been just clipping my webcam to the top of my laptop screen...does anyone else do this? I didn't think anything of it really since I basically place it over the built in cam anyways so it just seemed like a natural place to put it. But now that I'm thinking about it, would I do better with the camera say, clipped to a dresser a few feet away showing all of me? I really don't do too bad as far as getting traffic in my rooms but I'm just wondering if anyone else has had different experiences with the positioning of their cameras.

I use a PC more often than my laptop...the PC is raised and I have the webcam on top it...I prefer it at that level because it gives a good full length view (and I look better from that height!), and it's higher than if I used my laptop.

yeah I was wondering if I would look better from another height...I'm just 5ft 1 and at the moment I don't have anywhere even set up to cam, which I need to change, pronto! I live in an apartment and in my bedroom there is a laundry room, but I don't have a washer and dryer so I've just used it as a craft closet (I have an insane amount of crafting supplies lol) anyway I was thinking of maybe emptying that out, getting a desk to throw in there and maybe some stuff to put on the walls but I'm not sure the room would even be big enough, it's about 5ft by 6 ft (thought it was at least 5 x 8 til I just walked in and reassessed it)

I usually just use my bed because I can just easily lay down...sure would be nice to have a room dedicated to just camming though! Oh and phones too since I also do PSO work but usually I'll just walk in there and sit on the floor if I need to be away from any noise lol

My bedroom, where I do all my camming, is a REALLY freakin' tiny space. With the bed and the dressers in there, along with a laundry basket, there's probably less than 4 feet by 3 feet of floor space to move around. The ceilings in my apartment are also really low, but I'm only 5'2" so it's not a big problem for me. It's super cramped, so I have to be as creative as possible with my camera angles. I try to make things interesting by moving the camera around for different purposes. When I'm just sitting on my bed at my laptop and typing or talking to the camera, I clip the webcam to the top of the screen, like you, so it's facing me head-on and angled slightly upwards (and not downwards which emphasizes the forehead.) I find this to be a flattering angle and highlights facial expressiveness. I used to position the camera a couple feet away from the bed and facing straight towards me when I was typing, but having it up close seems more intimate and it gets better feedback from viewers.

However, I also have a good tripod and it helps. When I'm standing up, I like to have the camera low down on the tripod, about knee-level, with an EXTREME tilt upwards. You could probably just put the cam on the floor or a small box or stack of books for the same effect. I have a lot of booty and NO tits to speak of, so this is my favorite cam position and it gets loads of positive responses. Bumping, grinding, gyrating, and bouncing with my back to the cam looks great from this angle. Facing towards the cam from this angle, I noticed even my barely-A-cups have a little bit of under-boob action going on, and it's really flattering to my tummy as well. This is how I deal with the fact that I can't stand more than 3 or 4 feet away from my camera.

Occasionally, I'll also use an extreme high angle as well. The tripod is useful for this because mine can stretch even taller than my height, but I've also just clipped the cam to an empty mug sitting on a high dresser. I point the cam downwards and lie on my back on the bed, with my feet facing AWAY from the camera, so I'm upside down looking up at the camera. This isn't a super sustainable position for anything other than some sexy wiggling or masturbation, because it's kinda hard to read the computer monitor from this angle and impossible to type.

This is unnecessarily long-winded! My last bit of advice is that you might want to get a USB extension cord for your webcam. I've found those extra couple of feet of leeway make positioning the cam comfortably a lot easier.

^ That. I use a weighted bottle to hold my logitech (A yoohoo bottle and aquarium gravel). Add that to a USB extension cord like VU mention, and it'll be pretty much perfect.

My cam setup is pretty ghetto looking at the moment. I'm too cheap to buy a tripod, so I use a rolling suitcase that has one of those adjustable handles. It's easy to change the height and move around.

My cam setup is really basic, webcam clipped to the top of my laptop that's sitting on a chair next to my bed where I'm lying down. Only the top half of me shows up on cam and guys often ask me to stand up/zoom out but I don't give a shit coz a) I'm lazy and b) it doesn't hurt my money one bit. Plus I am super flexible so if I try and get pretty much any body part on cam without really having to shift. However, there is one super great advantage to this, when I do my show I move so I'm sat back on my bunched up duvet with my legs apart, meaning guys are getting a POV shot as if they were gonna lick me out while still being able to see tits/face. They love it, I get tons of compliments on the angle.
