Default Urban Decay and MAC both test on animals now

I'm super disappointed. Revlon hasn't done animal testing since 1989 and they're still kicking ass and taking names! Now MAC, Urban Decay, and Origins are trying to get into the Chinese market, where the government there requires every imported cosmetic to be tested on animals. Those companies used to be really proud of their anti-animal testing stance and now they don't have morals just care about getting into a larger market. I'm boycotting them, which sucks because I used to really love MAC and UD.

Now I'm just going to stick to Revlon, Wet N Wild, ELF, Sugarpill, Lime Crime, and Manic Panic.

In case anyone is interested, there are some really great websites about which makeup products are vegan:

The last one is my favorite. Very comprehensive, like Barnivore (vegan booze list) for makeup.

Hope this helps my compassionate makeup-addicted stripper companions!

I don't care about what they test it on. I'm still gonna buy UD or Mac, I love their shit!

Sad. It's so hard to choose cruelty-free products 100% of the time.

Sick on many levels. The Chinese suck and I think their government is despicable on many levels.

I know. I was really upset when I read about it. I felt like crying. I'm going to start phasing out brands that test on animals. It just makes me so sad.

Wtf is even the point of testing it on animals?

I've always liked Manic Panic- "Tested on celebrities, not animals." I'm addicted to their blacklight reactive nail polishes.

I try my best to purchase products that don't use animal ingrediants, or test on animals. It makes shopping for cosmetics sort of hard. I love UD, and I'm sort of disgusted with UD at the moment. I just love their products, and the fact that they we're animal friendly was another reason I loved UD (well that, and the pigmentation, texture, and color payoff with their shadows). I think people would care more if they tested cosmetics on babys in a lab...Just my two cents (from the animal lover of course)

Honestly, I don't really get the hype. I don't think UD is that great. And I agree, it is a lot harder to shop for cosmetics when you're looking for cruelty free. Fortunately, there are some great lists online of cruelty free companies.

Thank goodness, I was hoping the pressure would eventually make UD pull the plug on trying to break into the Chinese market. I'm sure they recieved plenty of e-mails, fb comments, etc.

I know, I'm gutted about this. I will have to stop using urban decay as soon as my current stuff runs out

Try Inglot if you get a chance.... they are pretty damn close to mac in terms of quality (at times their products are even better) but they offer larger sizes, customizable palates, and their products considerably cheaper.

I can vouch for their lip products, pigments, and eyeshadows. I like MAC a lot but I can find more bang for my buck with inglot.

They do NOT test on animals.

I only know about Inglot because I am a cheapskate. But hey if you are interested in cruelty-free products they are a great brand to look into.

Another amazing brand that doesn't test on animals is Nicka K. They offer INSANELY cheap products that are INSANELY good. Their HD eyeshadows are $1.99 and they will blow your mind.
