Dizzy Do you have an iPad/tablet?

I've decided I want to get a tablet, but I just cannot decide which. I'm going between the iPad and the Galaxy tab, and every time I think I've decided which one I want, something changes my mind!! I don't have any other Apple products, although my Blackberry is about to die and I'd like to get an iPhone when it does (also open to something Android though). I'd mostly be using it for surfing the web, sending lots of emails, reading books online, youtubing and maybe some Hulu. What do you tablet-owners like best/worst about the one you have? Any recommendations or things I should know when choosing?

Honestly I love my iPad to death. I download e-books through the Kindle app, take notes in class with a stylus, and do everything on it from my online banking to watching Netflix and use Spotify for music. The only downfall for me was the lack of USB ports and the price. The iPad is the fastest tablet out still I believe, I've never had any problems with it.

I'd stay away from Apple products, but that's just the opinion I've formed from owning my iPad. It's fast and sturdy, but I'm sure you could find something at least similar for a tenth of the price. Also, the charger is ~$30 and they tend to break rather easily. o_o You should try looking at Amazon's tablet store. You'll find a toooon of reviews on like every tablet ever made.

I LOVE MY iPAD!!! Really. I also don't lug around 2 books and a note book around anymore because it is all on my iPad. I also have music on it, Netflix, Doodle Jump, banking stuff, iReconcile (finances managing app), calculator, calendar, planner...... ugh I loooove it. Now that I work in a nice club with cameras and lockers and shit I take it to work too in case I have time to work on school stuff or get bored or need a break. I can also facetime/skype and take fun pics in photo booth

I bought an iPad, and I absolutely love it. Zero regrets. I've heard lots and lots of complaints about the other, cheaper tablets, like the Kindle Fire, and I don't have a single complaint about my iPad.

I would recommend the iPad. Tablets from other companies have a few more years to catch up to the iPad. But please note that compared to laptops and desktops, tablets remain underpowered (limited by both their memory and processing power). Other than that, they are quite handy and versatile.

I have a Samsung Galaxy Tab. I bought it because I have a Android phone so everything sync's effortlessly. If you have a gmail account, everything will automatically sync. It's incredible now that I think about it.

Photos from my Blogspot are automatically in my gallery on my tab, all my contacts in gmail are automatically in my contact list on my phone and on my tab. Everything in my google calendar is automatically in my phone and my tab. The very second i snap a pic with my tab or my phone, its uploaded to picasa right away and accessible on the web, my phone, and my tab. etc etc etc.

It has flash support. I get it that HTML5 is the next gen thing and will replace flash and apps, but in the meantime, Flash is still huge on the web. Every app I had on my iPhone, I have the same app or a good equivalent on my galaxy phone and galaxy tab.

I think the iPad is more refined and smooth and shiny, but the Android tabs can do so much more. If you're going to get an android tab, get the new line go galaxy tabs, or the Asus transformer tabs.

I've had a Xoom for about 6 months and it's basically a toy. It's more convenient to use than fiddling around with a laptop on the couch or in bed, but at some point you may have an epiphany feeling like the Internet is following you around everywhere. Web browsing is fine, minus the usual quirks with on screen keyboards and the hardware limitations of too many browser tabs and too much intensive content. Videos are generally fine and there are some fun games. It's just the little things like trying to copy and paste and multi-task that get old.

As far as picking between an iPad or Android tab...it's pretty simple. The iPad is almost idiot proof and a single device. You will keep getting iOS updates for years and apps are guaranteed to be compatible. Android is open source and has a much more diverse range of devices, from well known partners like Samsung to $100 China brand specials. Google develops the OS and it's the responsibly of device manufactures to add in their own crap and push down OS updates the the consumer, which is often confusing and difficult for the not so savvy. Much as a like using Android as a tinkerer, there's no "gota have" core feature that trumps the iPad beyond some better hardware options, which the Galaxy Tab 2 doesn't have.

A lot of people in the industry sorta see the writing on the wall for Android as innovation has slowed and Windows 8 tabs are around the corner. Personally I would just get an iPad, wait awhile too see how the Windows tabs shake out, or buy a throwaway 7" $100 Android tab like the Skytex Alpha 2 to see if you really even like using them on a daily basis.

If you are only using it for basic internet things, apps, movies, and reading, a Nook Tablet might be a worthwhile investment. I bought one a few months ago and I am in love with it! It probably cant do some of the really high tech stuff that an ipad can do but it is perfect for people who want something really simple and easy to use (i have a samsung galaxy phone and im not technologically adept, therefore i personally find it sooo difficult to use, lol).

You almost do everything with tablet. Just install LMI (Logmein) or (team viewer) and you can access any desktop anywhere.

Tablets are great, especially if you're out of the house a lot or want something lightweight. I have the motorola xoom 4G verizon version, and I love it to death. I also got it for less than 300 with accessories, which is definitely appealing since that is how much a netbook costs.

Ipads area great, but they are screwing you on cost (for instance adding 150$ extra for more storage, when it is literally another sd card inside..) and they are not as customize able and expandable as android tablets. Their biggest advantage is that they have a better tablet optimized app market. Also, the ipad is not the fastest tablet available, though the ipad3 does have the highest resolution. I would look for comparison reviews such as this one

If you want basic things and don't need 1000s of apps, I would get an android tablet over an ipad.

with the ipad3 they are trying to sell you on the retina display. do you really need that much resolution on a tablet? that's arguable. I find the resolution on all the android tabs more than acceptable.
