Default Screw you __________ club in NYC!!

Tonight I just re-auditioned at a club I used to work at for a year, which I left in good standing (did not get fired or owe any money)…

And they did not re-hire me!

    Unbelievable.

I really can't even say anything else right now because I'm just.. Wow.

Could you ladies give me some feedback on what you think about that?

Could you give us some info as to why you weren't hired or what club it is? Because based on your short rant we can't give you any feedback because there is absolutely no information there.
Are you fat? Or do you weigh more than when you worked there in the past?
Did you go in without hair/make up/nails done?
Did you have a poor attitude (like rant-style)?
    Did you bomb your audition?

Any of these are reasonable for not hiring you.

Could be any number of things ...

    - lots more dancers are looking for work these days, so the clubowner has more 'options' than ever to choose from

    - the clubowner may remember that you weren't big on 'extras' ... versus new girls walking in nightly who are much more willing to provide 'extras' thus earning themselves and the clubowner more money

^ That's bullshit and untrue of any of the manhattan clubs I've worked at. You always use that excuse about clubs but I'm definitely not an extras girl and never came across this at any club. In manhattan if you are gone more than 6 months they like you to re audition to see if you've gained a ton o weight etc but it's up to the hiring manger. I had a friend go back to a club after having a baby and they told her she had gained to much belly weight and wouldn't hire her back after working there 3 years before, That's just the way it goes sometimes just because you were x material at one time doesn't mean you currently are.

The fact you left is any reason for clubs (or any job) not to rehire. Owners/managers sometimes take it personally.

I really doubt this is true for stripping. Maybe in a vanilla job but definitely not with stripping. Fact is if you were a good entertainer and made the club money they'll hire you back in a second (so long you haven't become a tub of lard).

I'm convinced the reason my old club didn't hire me back was because I was 15 lbs heavier. They never tell you why they said no but that's the only change. When I went in for my audition and saw how much thinner the girls are now versus when I was there before I figured I was screwed. So, I've taken this ego bruising event into a positive one and I've totally changed my lifestyle. My eating habits are different and I'm walking 3 miles a day 4 times a week. I've lost 11 lbs so far in like 6 wks. I've got a few more weeks before I'm going to see if I can audition again. If after all the weight loss they still say no then it must be for other reasons I don't know of but the nice thing is I've ended up in better shape feeling good about myself again. I kinda got in a rut after I quit dancing and "let myself go". I hope I never do that again!

I admire you for being real and for your determination. Feeling good about yourself is far more important than all the rest. I am sure it will open doors for you, if not with your old club then with better and bigger things.
