    Default Pole tricks??

I have a few basic ones..a friend taught me some of them and others I kind of taught myself. Now that I have some basic ones I want to learn some that are a little more intermediate! So I am just curious..how did you learn yours? Watching videos, getting help from other dancers at your club, or did you just pick them up yourself? What do you recommend for learning more? Thanks!

Are there any pole fitness classes in your area?

There aren't any. Closest one is probably about 2 hours away, and in that case I would probably be investing most of my dancing money towards classes and gas to get there which wouldn't make sense

I picked them all up myself, I just watched the best dancer at the club and tried out the moves.

I learned from StudioVeena. Very informative.

I was afraid of the "watch and learn" technique. Sometimes, if you're self-taught and not executing pole tricks in the proper manner, you can really hurt yourself in the long run.

Just jump up on the pole and see where you're body takes you.

I do some so-so pole tricks that no other girls do, or can do, and I'm nothing special.

    They are all my own.

YouTube. Just be careful to know your limits and don't hurt yourself trying to do something more advanced tan your body can handle, if the club lets you go in early to practice or jump on the pole when there's no customers use that time. Doing push-ups and pull-ups ill help build up the muscle you need to advance and stretching to increase flexibility will open up more tricks and make some tricks easier.

If there's anyone at your club who knows tricks you want to learn you could try asking them to teach you. I personally love teaching girls new tricks (except when all they wanna do is learn tricks way too advanced for them and don't want to put in the effort to build up to them) but I know a lot of girls don't do this.

If you can afford to get an X-Pole at your house you can practice whenever you want, it really helps.

I just picked them up on my own. They hurt to learn in the first place but I kind of expected that and when I got used to those ones they no longer hurt. It's new ones I'm learning now that are kicking my ass. And the process begins all over again!

A lot of this for me too. There's some stuff that I learned from watching the other girls and youtube, but a lot of it is just getting used to holding the pole with different parts of your body and then working on having as few points of contact as possible.

I've been building upper body strength just from doing super basic stuff and advancing from there.. started out I could barely hold myself off the ground, then held the pole and did little hops where i'd go about a quarter turn.. now I can twirl around gracefully only holding on with my hands and wave my legs around. Tried to teach another girl last night basic stuff and realized then how far I've come, she's where I was five weeks ago.

I've been out of the game for a few years and have recently returned. I am having to re-learning all the tricks I used to do just from watching the videos from you-tube. Alena Downs has some excellent videos and even offers on-line course...which is great if you have a pole at home and a web cam. Other than that, I watch the videos and practice at home on my pole....I'll be glad when the bruising fades...I feel like such a noob! Lol...
