Default Honest Feedback on Ebony Modeling Situation

I have cammed on and off, but up until now it wasn't a necessity. Anyway wigs and weave were what I wore while camming and the look was all glamorous. I have fallen on some hard times. Money is tight in my household. In my day to day life, I am natural (meaning little makeup and an afrro). My cam persona wears make-up, get dolled up, cute lingerie, etc.

How do you think my custies will react to seeing me natural until I can get the money to go back to my normal cam persona look? Granted it's been awhile since I cammed, so it might be like recruiting new custies again anyway.

I've seen threads talking about Ebony models looking bad, ghetto, etc.

Well what about a natural afro, clean background, conservative lingerie, and just a little makeup ~~~ until I can afford to buy these things again???

How do ya'll think I'll do??? Desperate times and desperate measures here.

Some of my best money days have been going online literally looking like I rolled off the side of the road.

But for the most part I like to feel comfortable when I get on cam. Comfortable to me is having my hair tied back, a little mascara and lip gloss, bra and panties. Not too much, but definitely not the "just rolled out of bed" look. I am Asian, but I think this advice and situation applies to women of all races.

PrettiPeach, I personally think the au naturale look for black women is SUPER hot! I don't think that you should run into any major problems...perhaps your existing regulars might initially be somewhat surprised, but might be really happy to see the "real" you. And the possibility of attracting a whole new genre of regulars is quite strong I would think! I wouldn't really let it bother you, just go with it, and who knows, you mind find that you make more money and put less work into getting prepared to cam...all in all a happy situation! I wish you the best of luck!

I would totally rock it! There are ton of guys that LOVE a natural/minimalist look...it is refreshing and can help you stand out. Embrace your look girl and don't even worry about it.

I'm an ebony model, and I have seen other ebony models with natural hair, dreads, and they appear to be doing okay (by "okay"- I have seen an ebony model on SM make her gold show countdowns successfully). Personally, I tend to wear wigs, but I have had some regulars literally beg and try to tip GOLD just to see my natural hair! lol. But there are plenty of styles you can do with your natural hair: wets sets, two strand twists, two strand twist outs, braids, if you weren't wanting to rock the fro...or were wanting some variety. Check out YouTube...there are so manyyyy natural hair tutorials and stuff.

Also, if you do decide to purchase wigs once your finances are where you want, I'd suggest rockeytrading.com <- there is a $75 minimum, but because it's wholesale, you're getting wigs for a lot cheaper than if you purchased through your beauty supply store, or through another vendor online.

Hopefully this helps and make that $$

I've seen an ebony model on SM I won't say her name that wears her hair an makeup natural and is always in the #1 position in her category. I tend to watch other ebony models as well an the 1's with braids, locs, etc seem to do as well as the one's with weave an wigs...well as in they always get pvts. I think you will do fine as long as you have confidence, look presentable, an have decent equipment. I use to wear weave an wigs but got tired of the maintenance so I wear braids now an do ok. I would love to wear my natural hair but its not to my desired length an my confidence isn't quite there for that yet.

As a last resort you could always get cheap drugstore foundation an elf or dollar store makeup. Like milliauna said youtube has tons of hair tutorials that you can do for free or on the cheap. Yarn braids, micro braids, kinky twists are some easy styles to do or learn to do if your on a tight budget.

I have had dreads sine '95 and I wear my hair natural on cam, I have had guys tip or give gold just because I have natural hair. Not everyone expects an ebony model to have a wig or weave. Most of my clients love natural hair, and I have never had a negative response to my hair on cam. My clients both black and white love to talk about my hair. So rock your fro you'll probably do very well. Also you can still do the glam look with your fro if it's hit.

I'm natural too and don't really wear that much makeup...maybe some lip gloss or lipstick here and there. I always get compliments on my hair from the guys on my hair and they apparently love my skin for some reason even though I'm wearing 0 makeup. I think it's a bit refreshing for them to see someone who's not "dolled up" all the time and it kind of makes us seem more like "real" girls to them instead of mystical pornstar unicorns lol.

Oh and in real life I tend to get the most compliments on my hair on the days I think it looks like shit or just threw it into a puff or something to run to the store...it's crazy lol.

P.S. If you do decide to cam with your fro...be prepared to get compared to Lauryn Hill, Macey Gray, and Jill Scott...A LOT lol

Funny story! Just yesterday, i was camming and was in a group chat with at least 6 people, i was grooving and dancing and i guess i was feeling myself a little too much and decided to do this hair roll while dropping it like its hot...my lace front wig came off and flew across the room...i was so embarrassed, i couldnt even played it off i i tried! i was thinking omg they are going to laugh and leave, i ran and grab my wig and i was like im so sorry my wig came off *nervous giggle*....and then one customer said "lol your hair was the last thing on my mind!" .....not one person left my chat room!!

I say it like this is long as you look decent It's all that matters. Don't let stereotype let you believe that you need weave and makeup and all that crap. I just started wearing my natural hair recently and people are like why have I been wearing weave because I look really pretty natural. It's all about how you jazz it up and your swag at the end of the day. Go for it girl and be confident with it.
