    Default Bra sizes...I hate them!

They are just like jeans sizes: inconsistent.

Ok. I need to get that out of my chest. How many of you wear like three or four different sizes?

Yep, varies. There's some famous bra store out here, they use a whole bunch of formulas to arrive at the size you need.. I went online, & took their questionaire, it helped me get a better fit, I needed a smaller band size & bigger cup size.

That is what most women need; smaller bands, larger cups not the other way around.

If you go down a back size you go up a cup size. When I was 30F I could wear a 36C which was the same cup size but obviously there was no support in the back which is where it's supposed to fit properly

Ugh I hate the sister sizing thing. It is also stupid that different brands have different sizes. So even if you have been professionally measured as one size, it won't be universally applicable to all brands-- so it ends up being like an egg hunt.

I'm usually a 32D at most places. The thing that's weird with bras for me, is that push-up bras NEVER fit me right. My boobs always spill out of it, and I'll try on every size.

After my B.A. sizing was more difficult because I was inbetween sizes.

I should wear a 34 band size but had to go up to a 36 because the cups on the 34D aren't wide enough. If I go with a 34 DD, then the cups are wide enough, but too deep.

I wear alot of sport bras for everyday. It seems to be easier to find a good fit. But even then, you have to know the brands, because they all fit different. At least there's fewer of them to choose from.

Right now, my left boob is significantly smaller than my right boob (customers tell me that all the time when I'm online) and is a pain in the butt. Right now I'm wearing 36f; my right boob feels like bursting out of the bra, while the left one barely fills the cup. My original size was either a 36c (for most bras) or 36d (if I was using a demi or tshirt bra) and both boobs looked similar in size (the left one looked slightly smaller than the right one, but it wasn't very obvious).

I hate bra sizings as well. I'm a natural H (pain in my ass too) i went to a boutique & i was wearing a 36 but they said a 36 is too small & a 38 is too big o.O so they bend the wire & alter the band. But! Those bras are like 60+$ i want to go to lane bryant & buy bras but who would i get to alter the band & bend the wire?

^What she said. Is not a matter of choosing a larger band, but most of the time is a bigger cup what we need.

There are actually two systems of bra fitting, old and new. Old was used from the 50s up until about the 80s-90s. Both fitting systems will give you a bra that "fits" and feels comfortable...however, there are VAST differences between the silhouette you get with each sizing system...as in your boobs look either meh ok or AWESOME lol.

The larger breasts you have the better it is for you to use the new sizing system because it gives greater support than the old system, the smaller boobs you have the more flexibility you have with the sister sizes...however, if you want your girls to look nice longer, i'd recommend the new sizing system.

Measure (while wearing the best fitting bra you own) directly under the bust, in a straight line. Pull the tape measure tight. Let's say you get 32"

Then measure around the largest part of your bust, keeping the tape measure snug, but not so that it "cuts" in. Let's say you get 38"

With the old sizing system you take your underbust measurement and add 4"-5" (so that you get an even number) to it to get your band size: so in this case, 36. Then you subtract this number from your bust measurement to get a number which represents your cup size. In this case, 38-36=2

    Cup sizes are as follows: 1=a, 2=b, 3=c, 4=d, 5=dd/e, 6=ddd/f, etc.

So judging by the old sizing system this girl would be a 36b.

The new sizing system, you only add 1-2" to your underbust measurement, so that you get an even number. So 32" + 2"=34.Then you do the same substraction to get your cup size. In this case 38-34=4, so under the new system, the girl with the same measurements would wear a 34d. If you want EXTRA support, don't add anything to your underbust measurement (unless you need to add 1" to get an even number). Technically this girl could probably also wear a 32ddd/f. You need to still try on a few sizes to see which one you like best, but it is also kind of a matter of personal preference. There are cup size equivalencies, like 36b=34c=32d, but the band is what actually provides most of the support so it is important it fits snuggly for perkier, happier boobies

^ I forgot to add: department stores and lower end bra stores like victoria's secret, la senza, etc, mostly use the old system for fitting. If you go to a specialty boutique or higher end store they should use the new system. Or you can just use the above post to measure/fit yourself and then just go shopping!

I have figured out my bra sizes BUT I have a hard time finding 32D or 34C anywhere. And like those of you with large breasts I don't want to pay high dollar for bras.

I got plenty of 32D bras from "fredericks of hollywood" and "lilly of france". 34C bras are pretty common.... where are you shopping?

^^^Walmart, JC Penny, Dillards, Ross and such. I can always find plenty of the next size up or down but not what I need. Not many choices where I live.

i'm a 34DD right now and its a pain in the ass trying to find bras, the only bras that fit well are nursing bras and sports bras. Unfortunately nursing bras don't give me enough support and sports bras don't work for every outfit.

I know JC Penny carries Lily of France.... They sometimes have 32D... but 34C is readily available. They are pretty good bras. And they are cheap.

You can check them out on the JCPenny site.

Dillards is having having their semi-annual intimates sale right now. Awesome prices AND I got 3 bras that actually fit! Retail for the 3 would have been $76 plus tax but I got all 3 for under $20 including tax.
