The nuns should be happy to have them next door and marketing themselves as the perfect retirement home for ex strippers.

I don't think a stripclub belongs next to a religious structure. Both sides will suffer would be my guess. Instead of being ignored like most clubs are, they are asking to be targeted and have customers identified as patrons.
I also seriously doubt the owner would have built next to a mosque and my guess is the powers-that-be would have denied permits under those circumstances out of a fear of offending Muslims.

I work in a liquor store that's right next to a daycare. Is that really "appropriate?" Who cares? You own and determine how to use your own space - nothing gives you the right to demand how the space around you that you're not paying for be used by others. Go about your business, let others go about theirs.

But sadly the Catholic Church has become the whipping boy for everyone else. I do find this is tacky opening next to a convent just like it would be tacky next to a school.
I used to dance not far from that location and there are many now defunct strip clubs they could have opened.

I made a post on this not too long ago -I'm really looking forward to checking it out when it opens, maybe trying to hustle it. I actually found out a week ago that one of my old party buddy's is gonna be the GM there. Fun stuff!![]()

Who really cares if a stripclub opens next to a convent (other than the poor retired nuns I suppose)?
Do they think the patrons will wait around until morning--several hours after the club closes--and proposition the retired nuns when they take their walk?

Idk, this story brought out very mixed feelings for me. As a frequent patron of strip clubs, I am very much opposed to the morality police trying to dictate where (and often even if) a strip club can operate. However, as a father to three young children, I would probably fight like a demon to keep a strip club from opening anywhere near my home.
Honestly, I find that the happy medium that currently exists in most places, whereby strip clubs are commonly located in commercial zones, entertainment districts or in out of the way locations, works well for all concerned. I'm not really sure why the owners of this club need, or even want, to place it next to a convent. And I have no doubt that the static that the nuns are creating is not going to go away. In fact, there are likely to be a lot of parties, including politicians and LE officals, who are going to have a great deal of sympathy for nuns complaining about rowdy people, noise late in the night and other natural spillover issues commonly found with many entertainment establishments.
Anyway there it is fwiw.
I think someone opening a strip club next door to a church or school is just plain rude. I mean really was there no other real estate available? Still this is the fault of the club owner not the dancers and yes I don't think someone going to church should see condom wrappers on the ground. I'm not saying people are having sex in the parking lot but we all know alot of dirtier things happen in clubs and that's really not nice to have next door to a church. Also if this club only ran late hours then it shouldn't be that much of an issue. But having this during the day while people are walking in for morning prayer is just alittle too in your face.
I just don't see how a customer would feel ok walking past a bunch of nuns squishing around in his own man juice. Just seems tasteless and rude. Still if anyone wants to confess a few sins it's right next door and they can feel better about what they may have done just moments before.
Club Paradise in Toronto is in the same building as a church lol.
its a building on the corner, and the left half is a church and the right half is a strip club.

Haha that's great, I love it!
The first club I worked in, and one of the best of them despite some glaring flaws, was in the same shopping center as a stripmall church (no pun intended). The whole stripmall/shopping center was a little more upscale than usual. The stripclub used to be one of the biggest regular type nightclubs in town, and was set up perfectly inside for conversion. But now it's a huge giant Chinese restaurant, because the church freaked and got the city to pull strings or investigate or whatever, and find some reason to shut it down. I know it had something to do with zoning regulations, but you'd think they wouldn't have been able to open in the first place.
It was one of the most perfect locations ever for a stripclub, because it was basically right across a big thoroughfare from Embrey-Riddle Aeronautical University, with 30,000 future pilots with rich parents. Amazingly enough--despite this location--the club was slow after opening for about 6-8 months until I started there, but it was easy to turn it around and soon we were slamming every weekend when I worked. But this pissed off the church even more. I don't remember even seeing this Prayers 'R Us outlet or whatever they called it, but maybe I did and forgot where it was--not too close really.
The dancers were really pissed they had to go to other clubs, but not long after that Lollipops opened, which was truly gigantic and immediately kicked everyone's ass in Daytona. Still, no matter how good Lollipops might be, that location would have made a shitload of money if they hadn't closed it.
Really, it shouldn't make a bit of difference in the maintenance of whatever kind of faith or religion if women are rubbing on guys a hundred feet away, 6 hours before sunday service. I'm sure all the various gods wouldn't hold it against their loyal worshippers if they knew, so long as all the various sacred ceremonies, goat sacrifices, etc. were carried out without a bunch of crazed customers, strippers and DJs barging in and interrupting things after partying all night.
